Pre-Production
By Leah Ellis
Style sheet
I plan to use colours like this as I feel
they are muted enough that they will
not cause too much eye strain to
young eyes and colourful enough
that they will still stand out and fit
together still.
I wish to use a rabbit as
my character design so I
want to use real rabbits
in motion to get a good
idea of proportions and
anatomy before turning
it to a slightly more
cartoonish style.
I would like a stereotypical idea
of superhero, and feel that the
best way to do that would be to
have a cape on my main
character that can flap behind
them as they more.
I love the simplicity used within these
designs and how they still manage to give
cross the perfect cartoon style, so I think
this is something that I wish to use in my
work, an outdoorsy setting mainly – as they
are creatures, I would like them somewhere
similar to their natural habitat - that is still
very simple and cartoonish no matter how
detailed the characters are.
I would also like to make it not too realistic,
which is where the idea that they made it
homely with a door and comfort items and
such.
Storyboard
Refined Story Board
Primary Shots
This storyboard, after getting analysed by multiple others
as well, was concluded to be too long with multiple shots
that could just pad it out and make it more like a
complete episode instead of a trailer so I shall shorten it
to the main shots and then I can add in more shots if I
have time and it does not seem complete.
After doing this, I have found that I had created 10 frames
that are not essential and could add much more detail
than I need, and so would be more useful to be added
only if I have extra time after creating the rest.
Shots 1 - 11
Shots 1 to 11 are showing a very small section of
her backstory that may intrigue the viewer so
that has been selected to stay.
Shots 13 and 14
Shots 13 and 14 are also going to be seen as more
essentials as they add in the more trailer aspects, such as
the title cards and and a shot of a villain so we, as an
audience, can become interested in what may happen.
Shot 16
Shot 16 is essential as it gives another villain
that can be explored more in an episode.
Shot 18
Shot 18 includes a section that I would really like
to keep as it reminds me of usual cartoon
trailers of having a character almost respond to
the narrator.
Shots 21 and 22
Shots 21 and 22 are being kept as it gives the
shot of important fighting to ensure that the
viewers know something like that will be
included in the show.
Shots 25 and 26
Shots 25 and 26, are what I would also like to
keep as it is almost a repeat of the previous 2
shots on this list, but I feel that can be quite
important.
Shots 29 onwards
Shots 29 and onwards I would also like to keep
as I feel that is a conclusive ending to the trailer
and is something that I would really like to
include.

I have requested overnight
use of an audio recorder
so that I can do my voices
and foley work. In that
time with a high quality
audio recorder and
therefore, a good quality
of audio for use in my
animation.
I have booked it at a time
that my voice actor has
agreed that she is free and
that I have time to do any
form of foley work that I
wish to, as I will be at
home and have access to
many different textures
and objects to use.

Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
My saved work could become corrupted or
lost.
I plan to back it up to more than 1 place and be
careful to safely eject my hard drive when I
leave the computer. I will also save multiple
versions so that I can go to an older one if
needed.
I could leave my hard drive at home/ not have
it for a lesson to work on.
I will try to have my work saved to somewhere I
can access in college as well as the hard drive so
that I can always work on it.
The software that I am using could crash while
I am using it.
I will try to always save it when ever I do
something to it so that I do not lose a day’s
worth of work.
The file could not work on a different
computer due to programme versions.
I will try to always use the same computer, and
if I cannot, try to use one with the same version
of the programme.
My voice actors could not be available. I will try to only select reliable voice actors and
arrange times that I know they are available to
record the sounds/voices.
Potential Issue Solution
I could run out of time to complete my work
how I wish.
I will create a time table for how I wish to get
my work done and do my best to stick to that
and if I cannot in lesson time, will try to come in
at other times to work on it more.
My graphics tablet disconnects and makes me
unable to use the pen to draw.
I will have to save my work at the time and
possibly restart my computer, or wait a couple
hours. I cannot see any other way to restart the
tablet drivers.
Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
Eye Strain from looking at a computer screen
for extended periods of time.
I will make sure that I take breaks during
production to look away from the screen and
Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) from moving my
wrists a lot to type and use the pen/mouse.
I will try to take breaks when I feel that I need
them, and use some form of cushioner if I need
it in order to create less stress on my wrists
from the angles.
Backache from sitting for a long time in one
position, hunched to work.
I will try to sit properly at the correct form of
desk, with the correct type of chair and
supports. If I cannot get those, I will ensure that
I take adequate breaks from sitting and working
and walk around, or do something to stretch
out and avoid aches.
Stress from the software not being user
friendly or requiring too many extra clicks.
Or from things not going right while working.
Try to use user friendly software and be
familiar with how it works before starting a big
project. Also I should try to remain calm while I
work and not let little things get to me while I
work.
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
There could be some water around that could
spill and get into the computer/ make a trip
hazard.
I will try to keep all liquids under control and try
to have a water bottle that is not very likely to
leak, if at all on my desk and clean up all spills
as fast as possible.
There could be bags/coats in walk ways for
people to fall over.
I will ensure that all my possessions are out of
walk ways and somewhere safely tucked away.
Trailing wires could cause trip hazards or
possibly be pulled out.
I will ensure all wires are tucked safely away
from danger so that they are not pulled or
tripped over. Or if they need to be in the open,
ensure that people are aware of them.
During creating Foley sounds, I could harm
someone or something with hits, slips, or a
breakage.
I will try to keep any damage to a minimum by
being delicate and cautious, looking out for any
possible issues at all times.

I will try to take breaks when I feel that I need them, and use some form of cushioner if I need it in order to create less stress on my wrists from the angles. Backache from sitting for a long time in one position, hunched to work. I will try to sit properly at the correct form of desk, with the correct type of chair and supports. If I cannot get those, I will ensure that I take adequate breaks from sitting and working and walk around, or do something to stretch out and avoid aches. Stress from the software not being user friendly or requiring too many extra clicks. Or from things not going right while working. Try to use user friendly software and be familiar with how it works before starting a big project. Also I should try to remain calm while I work and not let little things get to me while I work.
  • 29. Potential Issue How will the issue be avoided? There could be some water around that could spill and get into the computer/ make a trip hazard. I will try to keep all liquids under control and try to have a water bottle that is not very likely to leak, if at all on my desk and clean up all spills as fast as possible. There could be bags/coats in walk ways for people to fall over. I will ensure that all my possessions are out of walk ways and somewhere safely tucked away. Trailing wires could cause trip hazards or possibly be pulled out. I will ensure all wires are tucked safely away from danger so that they are not pulled or tripped over. Or if they need to be in the open, ensure that people are aware of them. During creating Foley sounds, I could harm someone or something with hits, slips, or a breakage. I will try to keep any damage to a minimum by being delicate and cautious, looking out for any possible issues at all times.

Editor's Notes

  1. Explore colours, fonts and image styles similar to what you want to produce. Discuss all three elements in relation to why you chose them and where you may use them in your project. Go over as many pages as you need to
  2. Mock up of a potential design using the colours and fonts established in your style sheet and sourced images Alter this slide to make it appropriate for your planned product types. Add further layout slides to create at least one for each product you plan to make.
