Production Problems

Initial Thoughts
Technical Problems
• My graphics tablet could break, this would mean I was unable to draw
or colour my illustrations. To combat this, I will try to keep my tablet
safe and be careful, not to do anything unnecessary with it, or my bag
while it is away.
• The Mac could stop registering the tablet. This has happened the last
time I went to use the tablet with the college Macs, and I realise that I
need to either wait a while for it to reactivate or I can restart the
computer and it will register the tablet again straight away.
• My hard drive could run out of stage space. To sort this, I would need
to delete or move some content off of it to create the storage space
for this project.
• My Mac may not have the programmes that I need. This should not
be a problem as I am hoping to use Photoshop mostly, which I know is
already installed in all the computers around college.
• My hard drive could break while I’m using it. This would delete my
work, and so I will make sure that I have it backed up to my computer
as well.
• I have not done much typography, this means that it could not be
great, so to combat that I will do some experimenting to try improve
my skills.
• I am not experienced with professional printing. This could mean that
I can mess up some parts of it, although to solve this I will be
researching it enough, and check what the service I am going through
suggests I do, following their directions.
• I don’t know how long it will take to print the work, so I will need to
look into that, and then ensure that my production is finished in time
for me to evaluate it on time.
• I am unaware of how much it costs to print. To sort this, I will check
the pricings and ensure that I have enough money for it by saving up.
• The printing may require it to be a certain size. This would mean that I
have to know this before I can start working as I’ll need to produce it
to that specifics to ensure I can print.
• The screen will most likely make the colours look different to the
printer. To solve this, I will can do test prints of a couple pages that I
create and then edit the colours accordingly and hope that the
printers at college and the professional printers are similar enough.
Theoretical Problems
• I may not be able to afford the printing. To solve this problem, I will
check out that I can get the printing done at a reasonable price and
try save up for it if I feel I will need to.
• I may run out of time to produce the product. To avoid this I will try to
stick to my schedule and ensure that I do all the tasks in a reasonable
time, without spending too long not doing anything.
• College may be closed on some days that I scheduled to work. If this
happens, I will try to find another time to try do the work, out of class
time or try to fit in more tasks into one lesson.
• My bus may go on strike, not letting me come into college. For this, I
will either look at different options of buses that I can get or I will ask
a family member if they can drive me down.
• I could get eye strain. This is because I will be sat at a computer the
whole time, so I will need to ensure that I take adequate breaks from
the screen throughout the production time. I will do this by going for
a quick walk around, changing to do something on paper, or just
closing my eyes for a minute and look at anything else until I feel it’s
better to look back at the screen. I will also be ensuring that there is
no glare on my screen as much as possible.
Experiments I experimented with different typography methods, that
proved to me that I was not great at it, but I feel it was good
to test it out to see how I can do it better in other ways.
I also tried creating my art in other ways to see if I did not
need to use my graphics tablet in case that was going to not
work too well and I was unable to use it. I found that this did
not work too well for how I wanted the aesthetic to be, seems
it is very flat lines and I wanted more of a hand drawn look.
