  1. Begin by looking at case study p.74!
  2. Once you have an enterprise, next step is managing that enterprise!
  3. Dont forget MAPOC!Leading-Influence people and get them to work towards the goals of the business. Leaders are confident, decisive, capable of inspiring staff-Role models etcMotivating-Ensure workers work well by providing suitable incentives and rewardsCommunicating- Good listener and clear at commPlanning-Setting objectives, identify trends and prepare plans and take advantage of ops. Break objectives down into achievable stepsOrganising-Putting together the people, finance, equip and other resources needed. Who does what.Controlling-Managers must ensure that plans stay on target by regularly monitor progress and staff performance. Facilitation is key and support of staff.
  4. Parents are managers of the home. Show leadership to kids, motivate them, communicate with them. Planning holidays, organising cleaning cooking etc., and finally controlling finances!Get the students to do the remainder in twos/groups!
  5. Able to analyse problems and break them down into smaller, more solvable parts.Set goals for staff, decide how best to organise finance, people etc and act quickly when things go wrong, must be willing to take responsibility for decisionsProvide leadership and clear directions to others-Trust staff and delegate to othersConfident in their approach, inspire staff to work together as a teamAble to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and written with all stakeholdersBudget their time and delegate work where appropriate so do not waste time or are overloaded
