Ajay Garg, a Student of Padmashree Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Engineering and Technology, has been selected for INTED2011 (International Technology, Education and Development Conference) that will be held in Valencia (Spain) on the 7th, 8th and 9th of March, 2011. He has been selected for his innovative work on two Research Papers in Indic Languages and Next Generation Approach towards education. Ajay will be the only student participating from Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad for "INTED2011".
Ajay has put forth a new proposition in Learning & Administration for effective education and literacy as a new paradigm in Virtual Universities, through which new and emerging technologies will empower university and college administration and staff to implement changes in processes without relying on direct support from IT professionals. In the present competitive world it is important to cope up with the demanding speed of changes to systems. Ajay's invention will help towards bringing education at the grassroot level.

Incarcerated offenders face a number of additional challenges to those faced by most other students studying at a distance. Lack of internet access is especially problematic for those studying in a sector that is increasingly characterised by online course offerings.
This paper outlines a project underway at the University of Southern Queensland and the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre in Gatton that is aimed at addressing this challenge. A standalone version of Moodle is being developed that will run on a server and an isolated network of computers within the education centre of the prison. Satellite Moodle will run independently of the internet and will not be able to connect to any computers or networks outside the education centre. The features of Moodle will be modified to allow students to access their coursework and engage in forum discussions. Library resources and course readings will be provided on eReaders, without internet connectivity.
It is expected that the project will result in numerous benefits, among them: students will be participating in learning experiences more closely related to those experienced by students outside of the prison system; they will be learning relevant IT skills, e-literacy and e-research skills; USQ will be fulfilling its obligation in relation to equity of access; and will be addressing the Federal Government’s agenda of increasing participation by socially and economically disadvantaged groups in higher education. Satellite Moodle will also enable USQ to provide internet independent versions of courses to students in other areas that do not have access to the internet.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. 1.Adaabiliptty Struggle.
Switching from traditional classroom and face to face instructor
training to computer-based training in a virtual classroom makes
the learning experience entirely different for students. Their
resistance to change doesn’t allow them to adapt to the
online learning environment, whereas it takes time for them to get
accustomed to Course Management Systems (Students with a
“traditional” mindset find it difficult to adapt; however, they need
to accept the new learning circumstances with an open mind and
heart. Understanding the benefits of eLearning and even
discussing them with their peers may change this mindset and
better prepare students for online classes.MS) and the methods of
computer-based education.
3. 2.Technical Issues.
Technical Issues.
Many students are not provided with the high bandwidth or
the strong internet connection that online courses require,
and thus fail to catch up with their virtual classmates: Their
weak monitors make it hard to follow the Course
Management System and their learning experience becomes
problematic. The only solution to this problem is knowing
exactly what kind of technological support they will need for
a certain course before enrolling in it, as well as properly
equipping themselves for the course’s successful
completion.
4. 3.Computer Literacy
Computer Literacy.
Although students are generally tech savvy, and thus able to
manage computers well, lack of computer literacy is a major
issue among students today. Many of them cannot operate
basic programs such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and
therefore are not able to handle their files. Basic courses in
computer literacy enhance students’ knowledge in the field;
having a fundamental knowledge of computer hardware
would help them participate in online classes without
interruptions and hindrances.
5. 4. Time Management.
Time management is a difficult task for e-Learners, as
online courses require a lot of time and intensive work.
Furthermore, whereas it is mostly adults who prefer web-
based learning programs for their place and time
flexibility, they rarely have the time to take the courses due
to their various everyday commitments. A regular schedule
planner would be a significant help to these learners, as
they could even set reminders for their courses and
assignments.
6. 5.Self-Motivation.
Self-motivation is an eLearning essential requirement; however,
many online learners lack it, much to their surprise. After enrolling
in distance learning courses, many learners fall behind and nurture
the idea of giving up, as difficulties in handling a technological
medium also seem insurmountable. Students need to find the
motivation to follow the new educational trends and also properly
equip themselves for future challenges in their education and
careers. Only a positive attitude will help them overcome the
challenges in eLearning; though this is hard to practice, students
need to understand that it is necessary in order to reap the
eLearning’s benefits in the future.
