Opening Spiel – GREETINGS
For today’s MANCOM we are celebrating
two important events:
1. EARTH MONTH – kaya BLUE ang Major
Color natin ngayon. Earth Day was first
celebrated on April 22, 1970 to raise
awareness about environmental issues like
pollution, deforestation, and loss of
biodiversity.
O Bakit Blue hindi Green?
Most people assume that green is the best,
and often only, choice for environmental
THEME
2. activism. But think back to the elements we
considered when discussing just how
amazing the Earth really is.
Blue is one of the more easily recognizable
environmental associations. Water makes
up about 71% of the Earth’s surface. When
we gaze at the Earth from space we see it
as a majestic blue sphere with smaller
pieces of land.
Water is the foundation of life itself. As
such it’s one of the central points of the
environmental movement. By focusing on
the color blue during Earth Day we can
show our commitment to this vital
resource.
2. National Literature Month (Buwan ng
Panitikang Filipino)
As declared by Proclamation 968, April is
Buwan ng Panitikan or National Literature
Month.
Ito ay may temang Panitikan at Kapayapaan
Literature is 500 years old in the
Philippines. It started on the island of Cebu
with the arrival of the Spaniards in March
1521.
National Literature Month is celebrated
annually in April in the Philippines. It is
organized by the National Commission for
Culture and the Arts (N.C.C.A.) to recognize
the works of esteemed writers and scholars
of Philippine literature. It also promotes the
history and cultural legacy of Philippine
literature among Filipinos of today and the
younger generation.
Kaya we are in for a Literary Treat for
today.
