2. THE OUTFIT ADVISORS JOB
The primary task of an Outfit Advisor is to guide
and help the members of his Outfit develop
themselves into disciplined, responsible, self-
reliant, concerned, and selfless service oriented
citizens, each of them a potential leader of society.
To be effective in carrying out this function, he
must be knowledgeable, not only of the Senior
Scouting Program, its features and processes, but
also of his relationship and responsibilities.

4. Responsibilities to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines
Outfit Advisors are volunteers in the BSP
Observe the letter and the spirit of the policies and
principles
Abide by the Scout Oath and Law and set an
example to the members of his Outfit and to train
them to do their best to live up to it.
5. In Relation to the Sponsoring Institutions
1. Outfit Advisors are appointed by the Institution which
sponsors the Outfit. The Institution, therefore,
through the Institutional Representative, expects from
the Outfit Advisor the following:
2. Maintain the good image of the Institution
3. Assist in the recruitment of boys for the Outfit
4. Train all adult leaders as well as the boy leaders of the
Outfit
5. Make sure that all properties of the Outfit are kept
safely and in good order.
6. In Relation to the Parents and Guardians
The Scouts will not always be with the Outfit
Advisor all the time and the parents are most
concerned with the welfare of their sons…
They do expect the Outfit Advisor to insure that
the well being of their son is being attended to
just like they do. Good relationships must, be
developed between the Outfit Advisor and the
parents of the boys in his outfit.
7. In relation to the Institutional Scouting
Committee
The Outfit Advisor must remember at all times
that it is the Institutional Scouting Committee
that recruited him and it is also the Institutional
Scouting Committee that is helping him
whatever is needed financially and materially, to
ensure the smooth and effective operations of the
Outfit.
8. In relation to the Boys in his Outfit
The Boys too, have their own expectations of their
Outfit Advisor. It is well to bear in mind that the
degree of achievement a boy will have depends
highly on the respect they have of their Outfit
Advisors. It is on this respect that their influence
on the boys rest.
9. In relation to Yourself
The kind of future society is going to have will spend
heavily on the value system, and the kind of personality he
is able to develop in the boys of his Outfit... the personality
of leadership, the consistency of guidance, the strength of
character, and the persistent pursuit of excellence he is
able to provide.
It is imperative, therefore, that the Outfit Advisor strive
to make himself enormous so he can selflessly give
enormously to the boys in his Outfit.
10. OUTFIT ADVISOR’S JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Recruits, organizes and registers a Senior Scout Outfit.
2. Sees to it that Senior Scouts are advanced and recognized.
3. Trains the Boy Leaders
4. Encourages the Outfit to conduct co-educational activities.
5. Acts as a counselor to the boys.
6. Updates the parents on the progress of their boys.
7. Submit monthly reports to the Institutional Representative on the
progress of outfit operations.
11. MUTUAL AGREEMENT AND APPOINTMENT
An agreement specifying each other’s obligation is
entered into by and between the Outfit Advisor and
the Sponsoring Institution.
The Outfit Advisor is appointed by the Head of
Institution or the Institutional Scouting
Representative for a period of one year renewable.
