The diversity of learning continued at AP1 this week with a wealth of different experienc-
es on offer for our children creating an environment to thrive in. Our Extra Curricular
Club programme continued with a total of 118 activities on offer. It was lovely to see our
F1 and F2 children attending the two new clubs that we have offered this term - indoor
creative play and outdoor physical play. Even after such a long day, there was still
enough energy to take part and have great fun. In addition to this, well done to all of our
early risers who attend morning clubs. It surely is a great way to start a new day!
Well done to 3S this week who produced a very entertaining Special Assembly on Tues-
day. Themed around the Egyptians, the country that 3S adopted during International
Week, I really enjoyed the drama, dance and song that taught us lots about this fascinat-
-ing period in history. Mr Chris McKelvie even had his vital organs removed - live on stage! It has also been a
very exciting week for all of the year 3 children as they took part in their annual sleepover on Thursday even-
ing. With a packed evening of activities in school, a night in the Gym and breakfast in the canteen, I am sure
that a great deal was taken from this unique experience. Well done to everyone as for many, this was their first
night away from home without their parents. I’m sure they will all sleep well this evening.
Congratulations also to our athletics squad that took part in the HCMC schools athletics competition at the
University of Sports. Our young athletes excelled in every discipline on Tuesday, representing our school with
both integrity and respect for others. I would also like to thank those Y6 students who attended in the capacity
of helpers on the day. Their help in running such a large event was invaluable. More details of the competition
can be found on page 4 of this newsletter.
Thank you to all parents that donated items for our TET collection and also the toothbrushes for KonTum. As
always, your generosity towards our community partners is very much appreciated. Nearly one tonne of rice
was donated by AP1 parents alone and more details about the toothbrush collection can be found on page 6 of
this newsletter.
Finally, I would like to remind you about two important events that are happening at AP1 next week:
Headteacher’s Coffee Morning will take place in the MPR on Wednesday 11th February from 8.15am. This
term’s topic for presentation is ‘Community Service at BIS’. Please click here to access the letter that was sent
out to you last week. I am looking forward to meeting with as many parents as possible.
TET Assembly for all parents of MPF and MP1 children (F1 to Y2) will take place at 10.00am next Friday and
for parents of MP2 and MP3 children (Y3 to Y6), a repeat of the morning assembly begins at 1.15pm. Please
remember that all children can come to school on this day dressed in their Ao Dai. Details of both assemblies
have been sent to you today and these letters can be found on the Primary Parent Blog in the ‘Parent Docu-
ments’ section.
I hope that you enjoy reading through this weeks newsletter.
Have a good weekend.
3. LS Department - Year of the Goat 2015
Issue 20/Page 3
2015 will be the Year of the Goat
What are people born in the year of the goat like?
They are mild mannered, shy, and sympathetic. Personality traits, such as creativity,
dependability, intelligence, and calmness make them very charming to be with. They
are more comfortable when left alone or when they stay at home.
Are you a goat?
If you were born in these years then you are a goat: 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, or 2015.
The Goats as Learners – Will you learn like a goat in 2015?
Though they love to be in groups, they do not want to be the centre of attention. They are reserved and quiet,
most likely because they like spending so much time in their own thoughts.
I am thoughtful and
look out for problems
I am dependable and
follow the process
I am clever and
use the facts
I am calm and happy I am creative
and make things
I am sympathetic
and use my feelings
Which learner hat do you wear most often?

4. PE Department - Athletics Competition
Issue 20/Page 4
This Tuesday AP1 sent four teams to take part in the HCMC Athletics competition which was held at the
University of Sports. The afternoon saw the primary teams compete and started off with the U11 and U9
Girls taking part in the track events and the U11 and U9 Boys participating in the field events. Our teams
were so successful that I cannot possibly list all the events that the pupils medalled in. I was thoroughly im-
pressed with all the pupils’ effort, commitment and determination. BIS AP1 came home victorious in all four
competitions:
U9 Girls - Champions. U9 Boys - Champions. U11 Girls - Champions. U11 Boys - Champions.
Well done to all the pupils who participated.
I would also like to thank our Year 6 leaders. Without them, we could not have run the day. They were fan-
tastic, using their initiative when needed and all of them were so efficient and helpful.
Well done leaders!
