The document discusses Ericsson's 3D visual communication demo showcased at Mobile World Congress 2013. The demo aims to improve video conferencing by adding depth perception through 3D technology. It allows for more realistic and immersive communication. While the demo currently uses glasses, the goal is to deploy glasses-free auto-stereoscopic displays. Further work is needed to standardize new 3D video codecs and implement them in real-time for high quality 3D visual communication products and services. Summary: Cloud computing emerged, a decade or so ago, from underused computing and storage ressources in Internet players mega data centres that were thought to be provided "as a service". As a result of this inception, Cloud is often considered as a synonym for massive data center, which somehow fuels a very centralised vision of (cloud) computing and storage provision. However, we might be at a time in which the pendulum begins to swing back. Indeed, several initiatives are emerging around a vision of more geographically distributed clouds where computing and storage resources are made available at the edge of the network, close to users, in complement or replacement of massive remote data centres. This presentation discusses, through some examples, the evolution of cloud architectures towards more distribution, the signs and stakes of these mutations.

License-exempt spectrum bands make it possible for operators who do not have access to licensed spectrum to deploy wireless broadband networks. Traditionally vendors have developed specific solutions for license-exempt operators, often based on proprietary technology that limits the flexibility and upgradability of their networks.
With Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.16e WiMAX, license-exempt operators have access to the most advanced wireless broadband technology on the market today and can take advantage of the same performance, ecosystem, and volume of scale that incumbent, nationwide wireless operators with licensed-spectrum can.
While often positioned as a mobile broadband technology that operates in licensed bands, 802.16e WiMAX can also support fixed and nomadic services, and vertical applications in a range of frequencies up to 6 GHz, including license-exempt bands such as the 5.x GHz band and, in the US, the lightly licensed 3.65 GHz band.
As 802.16e WiMAX products for license-exempt bands are introduced in the market, operators need to know what the value proposition of using 802.16e WiMAX compared to alternative solutions is. How do they stand to gain from a technology that was developed to support mobility? Do they need the extra features that 802.16e WiMAX offers?
We just finished a white paper that addresses these questions by looking at operators' requirements and how 802.16e WiMAX meets them.
This paper describes a service-oriented architecture for data acquisition and control leveraging some of the latest concepts in software engineering. By addressing the business requirements to support role-based applications
and services, the platform removes the “islands of automation” issue and allows a vertical decomposition of the application stack to lower the barrier to entry for new applications

With the growing popularity of X-Reality (VR/AR/MR) generation of global media-data is expected to accelerate at much higher rate. Most of these data need real-time processing such as real-time facial features/emotion recognition to environmental context recognition/mapping beyond the capabilities of an MR glass. The demand for high communication bandwidth and ultra-low latency (<15ms motion to photon latency) will drive the community to exploit the capabilities of the telco edge nodes and push telcos to build more powerful edge nodes. The real-time analytics of media data with strict real-time constraints will be the ‘killer application’ of 5G networks and edge computing. In addition, we believe, multimedia analytics and 5G/edge computing will be the key to push for mass adoption of XR devices. In this talk, we will explore some suitable media analytics methods and architecture to run media analytics with the 5G edge nodes.

Distributed Shared Memory on Ericsson LabsEricsson Labs
The Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) service allows you to develop highly interactive and responsive web-based groupwares without having to deal with complicated issues such as networking protocols, database management and concurrency control.
The OAuth2 Framework allows you to protect your web resources using the next generation OAuth, (http://oauth.net/2/) as well as accessing OAuth2 protected resources, most notably the Facebook Graph API. The API consists of libraries for building your own OAuth2 server as well as client side access. The standard is still in draft mode so expect some level of changes. Currently version 10 of the OAuth 2 specification is the one being supported.
The framework is implemented in Java on top of Restlet.org HTTP framework.
It can execute on all platforms that Restlet is available on and it is validated using Java SE, EE and Android.
Donated to Restlet.org as an open source project with very generous open source license for reuse.
