17. Questions & Benefits
The following questions will help you determine the
customer’s needs and drive home the benefits on how media
distribution can deliver a better solution for less money.
Qualification Questions
What type of signals do you need to extend / distribute?
What is the maximum resolution you will be using?
How far are your screens from your players?
How many screens will be receiving the same content?
How we save your customers time and money
Distributed signals, same content, many screens, less expensive
than competitor
Cabling, Transmitters to Line Splitters, not available from
competition
Maintenance – having players accessible, environmentally friendly
saves OT hours and raises MTBF

Editor's Notes
Welcome to our presentation today on the competitive differentiators that make ComQi stand out in the digital signage market today. My name is ------ and I am the ------ for ComQi. Our agenda will cover who we are, what our product do, when our solutions should be used, the value proposition for our different product families and finally how we stock up against the competition. Recognizing that time is money, let’s get started right away.
ComQi was formed in 2011 with the acquisition of Enqii holdings, a leading content management software company by Minicom Digital Signage, a leader in signal distribution, extension and control products. The resulting company provides the digital signage market with all of the elements to a digital signage solution except the mounts and the screens…
ComQi has the solutions that address most of the needs for signal extension in the marketplace. We look at the main reason folks use digital signage and have narrowed those reasons into three general classifications. Networks are used to either merchandise a product or brand, provide information to the audiences or to use the screens to advertise products or services in hopes of increasing sales. Many of the networks we have deployed combine several of these functions together and our solutions are uniquely designed to meet these needs…
If we look for a minute at the true criteria for judging the success or failure of a digital signage network, it always boils down to the content strategy. Did the signs do what you expected them to do in terms of influencing the audience experience or behavior; increase awareness to brand, activities, opportunities; provide information that is necessary and relevant to the venue or just make the network owner feel better – with their signs installed. All of these criteria and applications revolve around the messaging – but what really influences the cost of ownership in a digital signage network. That is where our experience comes into play and the solutions that ComQi offers you to help reduce those costs, both in terms of capital investment as well as installation and maintenance.
So looking at the relationship between using our extension and distribution equipment in various vertical markets versus using other methods – you can clearly see where we can save you time and money. Let’s take a closer look at some best practices when designing your digital signage network
There are three distinct situations where placing a player at every screen is always more expensive, in installation costs and/or operating costs or both, over the life of a network. When you are in a venue sending the same content to multiple screens, signal extension and distribution (E&D) equipment will be less expensive and have higher performance than a player on screen. The reasons for this are:Signal receivers tend to be less expensive than playersPlayer and/or software licensing costs are reduced because there is only one player for the content, rather than multiple playersWith multiple players showing the same content you need to be very careful with clock speed and times so that every image is appearing at exactly the same time. Otherwise you are faced with screens that look jerky because the messages are not synchronized. The second scenario for using E&D equipment in lieu of player at screens is when screens are placed in environments that are either difficult to reach or servicing the player will disrupt the business flow. For instance, a shopping mall has screens placed eight to ten feet off the floor and require lifts or ladders to service them. This type of equipment is not usually brought into a location during business hours so servicing entails overtime, security and multiple man hour costs. Another example is a service line at quick service restaurant or an amusement park. Servicing the player at the screen would severely disrupt the business and potentially annoy customers. In both of these examples, having player in an accessible location would cut servicing costs and down time of the messaging considerably over the life of the network. Installations will be comparable as the cable used to bring network connectivity to the player at screen is the same cable used for signal extension. Finally, E&D equipment is ideal in digital signage installments when screens are placed in harsh locations. Such environments include screens located in outdoor locations such as transit platforms, amusement parks, drive-through menu boards or stadiums. Additionally, QSR’s where fumes, heat & oil are prevalent or a manufacturing plant where dust, heat and dirt are present and can detrimentally influence performance of the player. In each of these scenarios the servicing of players happens more frequently than players placed in safe and environmentally friendly locations and signal extension is utilized. The underlying message of this piece is this: The decision on where to place players in a digital signage network will have an impact on the total cost of ownership of that network over its four or five year lifespan. Players, while becoming more reliable, still require the most maintenance and upkeep over time than any other element in the digital signage network ecosystem. Placing a player in a safe, secure and accessible location will ensure that the network’s uptime will be maximized while the costs of maintenance will be minimized over the life of the system hardware. And those savings can be substantial.
So going back and looking at the three criteria for using E&D equipment versus player at screen in the vertical markets we have been using in this presentation – we can clearly see that our equipment would be relevant for just about every scenario examined. So what are our solutions? What do they look like? Let’s take a closer look…
Here are our six product families that are currently gracing screens around the globe. We will spend time going into each individually in teh coming slides, but lets highlight some features of all of them:All of our systems support 1080p resolution out of the box. The distance will depend upon the product family and the quality of cable being usedAll of our analog products support input and ouitput to screens through VGA connectors but can also support player output of DVIi or Display Port with adaptorsAll but one configuration of our products can use CAT5, CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT7 cable, without limitation or need for special featuresAll of our products ship with their power suppliesAll but one of our products ship with the cabling needed to connect the Transmitter or Broadcaster to the playerAll of our products come supported with a three year warranty...
All of our products work in essentially the same way. We take output from a player (whether digital or analog signals) and transmit those signals over CATX cable to either a Line Splitter or directly to a receiver. All of our product come in a one to one or one to many configuration and because we are a digital signage company – they have been designed to provide the network owner /operator the most amount of flexibility in placing their screens with the least amount of cable needed. Let’s take a closer look at each of the solutions…
