3d game level workflow

Unity 3D Game Level – Workflow
This design I am trying to make a 3d environment using unity, the style I’m trying to go for is kind of
old theme to it with a large area to explore that shows interesting things around the map with a cold
atmosphere in the background to make it stand out on the map. So far I’ve started building the
mountains where I can put my medieval houses around the mountains and added a lighting and
darkness on the map that creates shadows on my level design. Then step by step I added some
surroundings to the medieval houses and made a small village then started thinking about my
making the atmosphere, with that I got a snow paint then brushed along the surface on the
mountains that I made and turned out well with a cold atmosphere around it as soon as I got that
done I build a water effect on the very bottom of my level design I surrounded it with mountains so
it looked like a small island, I also made a small lake and an average size lake on each side of the
level design map on both lakes I added some steam effects which made the lake stand out more and
look interesting instead of being just a basic water design. At the other side of the map I made
another village that contains different medieval buildings and structures then I also did the same as
the first village by surrounding it with a barricade of castle walls and corner posts then again I added
a mesh collider on each buildings that I made so the first person controller wouldn’t go through on
any buildings and stop as soon as the controller hits them. Then to finish of my 3d level design I
added a long bridge that leads to both villages I put a mesh collider again on the long bridge so that
my first person controller would not go through the bridge as he walks on it and fall from the map.
I’d say the objects that I placed on the map was really good on how it stood out on the game level
design I tried to make it look like a medieval theme to it as I can, by adding some houses that looked
like mansions and bars and some small houses and making an entrance to each village with an arch
way on both villages. Overall since I struggled at the start of the task I thought I was able to get the
level design done on the deadline since my unity had a lot of technical difficulties I could have done
more on my level design if I had more time but at the end I manage to get it done. If I had to do this
task this again I would have made it better by adding more objects and textures to it since I learnt a
lot of new things on unity.
Probably my inspirations I got is from an old medieval game like Shadow of Mordor, Skyrim with a
cold winter theme, that allows you to explore around it and see different environments.

I turned this small village into a surrounded castle with a snow effect which is simil ar to all the
inspirations medieval type of theme.
At the back of the village I made a small pond with an effect of a steam that shows the water is
warm and made it for the village people to keep warm in the winter atmosphere that I made.

For the floor I made an island full of water since I had some stuff in my unity crashing down and
some stuff not working I had no time to work on the floor so I had to come up with a quick solution
and made this, I thought it stood out well and did an alright job.
I surrounded the place small mountains to make a small island, again I thought of this since some of
components on my unity had some technical difficulties.

At the other side of the island I made I did the same thing by surrounding the place and made this
average size pond added with a lot of steam effect to make it look like its warm water for the village
people that lives in the island and used this inspiration from the medieval times.
I made a snowy effect in each mountain I made since I got the inspiration from medieval games like
Skyrim, Shadow of Mordor. I mixed up the snow paint with the concrete so it blends both together
and stands out really well.

I made a bridge that leads to the other side of the mountain, I also added a mesh collider so you
won’t fall when you walk on the bridge I used this bridge because it a kind of old theme to it with a
medieval type I thought I would have stood out in my uni ty.
I painted these walking path on to make it look like an old game with a medieval theme to it and also
this can guide you on where to go around the island that was made.

At the other side of the bridge I made a second village, from the outside I made it look like this
surrounding it with an arch way and also at the sides with a castle wall and corners with a tower.
I did the same thing all the way around the second village by surrounding it with a castle wall and
castle towers. I thought that I would look like a medieval village and the inspirations that I am going
for.

From the inside of my second village that I made it looks like a small village with a couple of houses
and bar and used this to make it stand out for the theme that I am going for.
In all the houses of my island that I made, I used a mesh collider so you wouldn’t be able to go
through in all the houses and stop as soon as you hit towards it.

Overall my 3d unity work looks like this and I thought I did a good job on making it since I had some
stuff that didn’t really work and just manage to work in the right time and it was a good task on how
I have to make my own 3d level design.
