By Deepak Mehta, 3DEE. Presented at Crowdsourcing Week Brussels 2014. More info: http://crowdsourcingweek.com/
This talk was first presented at the Maryland Society for Educational Technology 2014 Common Ground conference. It is meant as an introductory talk about 3D printing and how to get started designing for 3D printing and printing even if you don't have a 3D printer.
We discuss:
* What exactly is 3D printing
* What can it do
* What it can't do
* The uses of 3D printing in fashion, architecture, food, medical devices, and tools
* Real world projects using 3D printing and everyday people
* How 3D printing can be used in the classroom
* Different types of 3D printers
* Different types of 3D printing materials
* Different software solutions for creating 3D designs
* Some 3D printing resources

What is 3D Printing? Why is it such a hot product? Why has 3D Printing been on the lips of technologists for years and now it’s on the lips of the general consume? Why is 3D Technology, or additive manufacturing, poised for explosive growth and why is it so important to BDPA? By ‘printing’ and shaping materials such as paper layer upon layer in various geometries, we can now create three-dimensional physical objects at a fraction of the unit cost. This advance in technology has opened the door for numerous applications that are revolutionizing businesses across all industries. Everyday people are also joining in on the fun and coming up with ever more creative uses for 3D printing.
Our guest speaker for this month is Jeff Smith, co-founder of high quality 3D printing technology company, Fabricon3D, located in Cincinnati. He is very enthusiastic about technology and how it can be leveraged in a business setting to get the job done faster and better. Jeff is an entrepreneur who has run a successful executive search practice (Smith, Fischer & Associates) since 1998.

Haptic 3D modelling software: its development. PPPresentation at 3DPrintShow ...Ann Marie Shillito, FRSA
Anarkik 3D Design for 3D modelling software is a great experience. Its haptic (which means ‘virtual touch’), its fun, its intuitive, its playful, its serious, its not CAD! Its different, easier and quick to learn. It is not prescriptive. Serendipity is the default. Its not for everyone as not everyone wants or can deal with a programme with so few constraints. Artistic persons can!
We developed Anarkik 3D Design for designer makers, applied artists and 3D artists who want a balance between working at the bench and working digitally, want freedom to explore digital form creating, be playful and be able to access 3D printing.
My presentation is about how the right software can make 3D print technology more accessible to many more people and to explain why some artists and designer makers need software that is different from CAD.
Application of 3 d printing in construction management (1) (1)adarshkaushik6
This ppt is completely about 3d printing and its application in construction. This ppt is done by students of Thiagarajar college of engineering Madurai.
There is no doubt that technology and industry will continue to evolve in many forms. Many futuristic sectors are currently being developed. Initiatives such as the robotic and the internet of things are becoming more and more of a factor.
From a presentation given at the Jupiter Branch of the Palm Beach County Library System on Wed, Jun 25, 6:30 pm:
Robotics Engineer, Pierre Baillargeon, will discuss 3D printing. Learn about this new innovative technology, how it works, what it looks like and what are some of the things you can create using a 3D printer. (60 min.)
The story: from professional contemporary jeweller, using exotic metals like titanium and niobium, to founding and running a software development company producing wonderfully disruptive 3D haptic (virtual touch) products. 3D haptics just has to be tried to experience its WOW effect, and to understand its potential as an enabler, particularly in learning programmes. Our main product is 3D modelling. Haptics makes it very easy and quick to learn and use and gives access to 3D printing. Our #TouchableUniverse Project is focused on building an enabling platform for developers to add haptics to their programmes, and on apps that demonstrate the potential of haptics to enhance learning.
3D printing is a form of additive manufacturing technology that allows for production of physical objects from digital data, constructing an object of virtually any shape layer-by-layer, by depositing material layers in sequence. 3D printing is a quickly expanding field, with popularity and uses for 3D printers growing every day.
In this report, ICE Team has aggregated all the intriguing applications of 3D printing. The report also includes information on how 3D printing works and major 3D printers available in the market. Finally our future scenarios for a world with 3D printing will provoke you and help you take a step up and see how the future might look like. As always we look forward to your comments, suggestions and feedback.
3D printed cars, homes, prosthetic hands, food, International Space Station tools, and almost anything imagined is now mainstream. 3D printing seems to have taken over the world and 3D printers are now affordable for many consumers. However, basic 3D design principles tend to be neglected, especially in library makerspaces. 3D printing objects work well only when one follows basic fundamentals of 3D design. In this webinar:
- Understand 3D printing and how it works.
- Discover a variety of free 3D design applications and repositories.
- Learn basic 3D design fundamentals (e.g., understanding 3D space and geometry, modeling, surfaces, textures, and rendering images).
- Gain hands-on experience designing a 3D object that can be 3D printed.
Note: it is recommended attendees create a Tinkercad (https://www.tinkercad.com/) account before this workshop.
3d Printing: History and Current TechniquesDavid Gerhard
Why do we care about 3d printing? What are the economics of 3d printing? How do the different 3d printers work? How do you design something to be 3d printed?
Discusses about the different media of Advertising use, and the the kinds of Advertising. This slideshow particularly discusses Interactive advertsing, most particularly Kiosks, and Point of Purchase. It also discusses about the difference between Product and Non-Product Advertising, Commercial and Non-commercial Advertising, and Awareness Advertsing.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
