21 reasons why people don't read your newsletter anymore. Cyriel Kortleven created this slideshare as a last attempt to inactive subscribers in his mailinglist.
This document discusses how libraries must adapt to changing workforce demographics and learning styles. By 2020, half of the US workforce will be millennials who prefer self-directed, informal and just-in-time learning over formal training. As such, libraries need to shift from trainer-centered models to learner-centered approaches that facilitate learning moments anywhere and anytime. The document also outlines challenges to change and provides resources for developing a learning culture and organization.

Energy-efficient operation of GSM-connected infrared rodent sensorsGabor Paller
This document discusses the energy-efficient operation of an infrared sensor node that detects rodents and transmits data via GSM to support precision agriculture. It describes the AgroDat.hu project which establishes an agricultural decision support system using sensor data. Prototypes of soil and camera sensors are presented, with a focus on developing intelligent camera sensors that can process images locally to only transmit relevant data. Various architectures are evaluated to balance the energy use of on-sensor processing versus transmission. The findings suggest using low-power microcontrollers for sensor control and communication to minimize idle power consumption and enable energy savings through local processing and triggered transmission.

When Tech meets Fashion, what could possibly go wrong? @nickdemeyBoard of Innovation
This document discusses common pitfalls when combining technology and fashion. It notes that simply throwing technology into fashion does not make sense and provides examples of fashiontech startups that failed because they did not understand user behavior. The document emphasizes the difficulty of introducing new behaviors versus altering existing ones and stresses the importance of observing real users when developing fashiontech products and business concepts.
