Orange Square: Stories from the Divestment Student Networkdinahdewald
The Roots & Media Divestment Roadshow is a two hour, multi-media teach-in with social media guru Joe Solomon, heavy-weight educator Johanna de Graffenreid, and a founding member of the rapidly-growing national Divestment Student Network. Among us we bring nearly two decades of experience fighting the good fight paired with the fire of the youth movement, building on the hard work of thousands of grassroots activists from generations past.
The Roadshow's first hour provides an in-depth look at the history of the climate justice movement. We do this by honoring the resistance of environmental justice frontline communities, and weaving their stories together. This is followed by an engaging workshop on the art of breaking through on social media to get the word out about your successes. The final piece presents a vision for the future of our divestment campaigns: we explore the power of organized students and youth, and how the Divestment Student Network is leveraging that power.
Dinah DeWald is a founding member of the the Divestment Student Network. The Divestment Student Network is a place for students to dream big about the changes we can make as youth organizers when working together in concert. The Network’s membership includes current students and recent alumni of university fossil fuel divestment campaigns. After its official launch at PowerShift 2013, the Network swelled to include members from dozens of schools, and continues to grow rapidly. In its first few months of activity, DSN has hosted several visioning workshops for student divesters, developed a Peer Mentorship program to foster skill-sharing across campaigns, formed a frontline solidarity group to support deep and respectful relationships between youth divestment and impacted communities, and published a student-authored publication, The Orange Square. The Network is also leading coordination of the second national Student Divestment Convergence, being held in the Bay Area this spring.
Digital inclusion for older isolated people - our learning journey, pop up un...NHS England
Expo is the most significant annual health and social care event in the calendar, uniting more NHS and care leaders, commissioners, clinicians, voluntary sector partners, innovators and media than any other health and care event.
Expo 15 returned to Manchester and was hosted once again by NHS England. Around 5000 people a day from health and care, the voluntary sector, local government, and industry joined together at Manchester Central Convention Centre for two packed days of speakers, workshops, exhibitions and professional development.
This year, Expo was more relevant and engaging than ever before, happening within the first 100 days of the new Government, and almost 12 months after the publication of the NHS Five Year Forward View. It was also a great opportunity to check on and learn from the progress of Greater Manchester as the area prepares to take over a £6 billion devolved health and social care budget, pledging to integrate hospital, community, primary and social care and vastly improve health and well-being.

Balancing Cloud-Based Email Benefits With SecuritySymantec
As organizations try to take advantage of the business benefits and cost savings afforded by cloud offerings, email software as a service (SaaS) stands as one of the easiest first paths toward cloud adoption. Generally simple to set up and maintain, cloud email often is the first win for organizations that may not yet have the wherewithal for more complex cloud deployments.
Unsurprisingly, statistics show that 58% of businesses today have already migrated to cloud email.1 And the enterprise is also quickly catching up. Gartner estimates that between 2014 and 2017, the percent of email seats based on a cloud or SaaS model will triple.2 Many reputable cloud email providers do offer some fundamental security controls bundled into their services. Nevertheless, organizations struggle to find the right balance of ease of use for their employees and cloud cost savings. After all, they must still maintain the same level of security their organization came to expect when email was hosted on internal infrastructure in their on-premises environments.
In today’s Information Age, it has become increasingly important for school districts to display data in an easily accessible and understandable format via the web. We operate in a “click-and-get” world where our society expects immediate access to information without leaving the comfort of our home/office. The new ACS Web Data Display provides current information about Auburn City Schools (ACS) in three areas—Academic Achievement, Significant Statistics, and Community Characteristics. Our data display will:
Provide the public with a multi-year snapshot of the performance of ACS on all state assessments;
Enable families, from within the United States and internationally, relocating to the Auburn community to develop a visual picture of Auburn City Schools and our community-at-large;
Communicate ACS’ high expectations for academic achievement and commitment to quality programs that prepare students for success in future endeavors;
Respond to the requests of Auburn University faculty members to have access to data necessary for grant proposals and research interests; and
Promote the unique and successful collaborations between ACS, the City of Auburn, and Auburn University as an education focused community committed to the success of all children.
This presentation is an asset to Auburn City Schools as we continue to convey information to our stakeholders through new and innovative measures.
