UNDERSTANDING
THE ROLE OF DRR

The Basics
District Governors (DGs) are encouraged to appoint a district Rotaract committee as
noted in Rotary Code of Policies section 17.030.2.
The district Rotaract representative (DRR) is a Rotaract member elected to serve as
the co-chair of the district Rotaract committee with the district Rotaract chair (DRC),
appointed by the DG
In a district with one Rotaract club, the DRR shall be the most recent, available past
Rotaract club president.
The DRR will be guided and counseled by the DG and should work with the district
Rotaract committee and other appropriate Rotary district committees.

The DRR in conjunction with other district leaders, should:
a. Develop and distribute a district Rotaract newsletter
b. Support and implement leadership training
c. Conduct Rotaract promotion and extension activities throughout the district
d. Plan and implement service activities (if approved by three-fourths of the
Rotaract clubs in the district)
e. Provide advice and support to Rotaract clubs in implementing their projects
f. Help coordinate joint Rotary-Rotaract activities in the district
g. Coordinate public relations activities for Rotaract at the district level
h. Plan and implement a training session for Rotaract club officers in the
district

DRR Election Requirements
• The district Rotaract representative must have served as a Rotaract
club president or as a member of the district Rotaract committee for
one full term before taking office.
• The method of election shall be determined by the Rotaract
membership, reviewed by the district Rotaract committee, and
approved by the district governor in advance of elections.
• All election disputes shall be resolved locally by the DG based on
district policy in consultation with the DRC. RI will not intervene.

  • #6 Session 1: (352 D) Introduction to the role of a DRR, compliance and administrative requirements, and information about getting elected. Followed by a Q&A panel with 2-3 past or current DRRs. Session 2: (352) In “The Trainer” workshop, you’ll learn how to train the club officers in your district per their role and conflict resolution skills. You will gain valuable knowledge on how to train and react to various situations as the DRR. Session 3: (352) In “The Organizer” workshop, you’ll learn how to support Rotaract clubs in planning service projects, organize district-wide service projects, and organize a district Rotaract conference. Session 4: (352) In “The Promoter/Recruiter” workshop, you’ll learn interactively about high-level membership development plans, forming Rotaract clubs, and district/club promotion. As the final DRR session, you’ll leave motivated to take on your new leadership role.
