Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Priming
In an online class, we use a
computer, laptop, cell
phone, or tablet, and
sometimes we experience
malfunctions. What do you
think are the causes of
malfunctions?
Acquisition of a complete set of
tools, equipment, and paraphernalia is a vital
requirement to any industry especially in
hotels and resorts.
Knowing the proper care and use of
tools, equipment, and paraphernalia is
highly needed in preserving their longevity
and usefulness. Following the standard-
based procedures will help them become
more effective.
Cleaning procedures vary from one
tool to another. Even chemicals and cleaning
materials to be used depend on the kind of
materials that the tools and equipment are
made. Some require a daily maintenance
schedule, while others may be cleaned less
often. Therefore, before doing any
housekeeping, make sure to read and
understand the user’s manual for specific
tools and equipment.
The following are some commonly used cleaning materials for electronics;
1) A duster is used to wipe away
dust from surfaces of office tools
and equipment.
2) Compressed air is pressurized air,
a tin can that blows away dust
and dirt especially on hard-to-
reach spaces.
3) An electrostatic cloth is unlike the
usual cleaning cloth, it has
magnetic properties that gather
dust and dirt particles.
The following are some commonly used cleaning materials for electronics;
4) A lint-free cloth is a special
cleaning cloth that does not
leave any lint on equipment.
5) A toothpick or metal pin
serves as a framework for cotton
cloth to reach deep holes.
6) A cleaning solution is a mild
detergent mixed with water and
disinfectant like rubbing or
isopropyl alcohol.
Here are some of the guidelines to be observe uponcleaning some of the major tools
and equipment for front office use:
1.Monitor
 Turn off the computer and unplug the
monitor from the power source.
 Use moist, soft, and clean cloth with
rubbing alcohol to wipe away dirt on the
monitor screen.
 Never spray water directly on the screen for
it might damage the internal parts.
 Attach the monitor to the system unit after
cleaning.
