This game is the best example of a
basketball game there is as it is by far the
most popular, as well as being one of the
few official NBA games. My game will be
nothing like this as mine is 2D only, but this
is a great example of how good a basketball
game can be. It gives me an incite into
what a real basketball game should be. For
example, it has a create a character mode,
something I want to add to my game. It
also allows you to pick which jersey you
want to wear, again something that I want
to add into my game. The movements of
the players in this game are lifelike, and it’s
something to look up to when animating
mine.

Bouncy Basketball
This game is a little more like what I am
trying to do for my game. This game is 2D
and is all made from pixel art, just like mine
is going to be. It is a good example of what a
finished game like mine would look like in
the two weeks I ha to complete it, only mine
is in a different style. Both have simple
controls, mine will be more than just the one
button, however it wont have many more,
around four or five buttons. Like my game,
bouncy basketball is a mobile game, and so
it is a very good example of how simple a
good mobile game can be. Mine will also be
quite simple, but also the style and the type
of basketball game it is is completely
different.

After finding these games, the best
way to describe my aesthetic is a mix
between this and Bouncy Basketball. I
am taking the pixel style of Bouncy
Basketball as well as the small, large
headed style of this game to create my
own style, which is shown on the first
powerpoint. The simplistic style of
these controls is more like mine, using
movement on one side amd shoot on
the other

Basketball Classics
This game is a great example, as it’s something
that I could make myself. It’s a 16-bit basketball
game that is filled with colour. It shows that a
game doesn’t need to be complex to be good.
This game only has the option to play basketball
matches, yet that doesn’t affect how good it is.
The simple keyboard based controls allow
anyone to learn how to play quickly, and it gives
people the option to choose what team they
want to play. I think this freedom in games is
important as people like customisations, which
is why I’m adding some into my own game. This
only allows teams however. Instead, I will allow
customisations of the character, giving people
more freedom to do what they want.

– The most common aspects of these games is the aspects of colour. Every game
has a lot of colour, whether it’s the background audiences or the characters
themselves, the jerseys, the stadiums, even the scoreboard has plenty of
colour.

– I like the idea of a game that has unrealistic aspects to it. For example, making
a normal basketball game however it involves power ups that make you slow,
or makes the ball bigger.
