Jute is type of vegetable fiber used to
make items such as rope, twine and
much more. Jute is one of the
cheapest and the strongest of all
natural fibers, raw jute is the
natural fiber which is extremely eco
friendly. Jute was once known as the
golden fiber of Bangladesh, since it
was the most important cash crop
for the country.

5. Botanical description of jute
• Plant: annual herb, tall, slender half shrubby,
nearly 2.0-3.0 meters of height.
• Stem: long, slender and colour varies from full
green to dark red branched.
• Root: well branched tap root.
• Leaf: simple and petiolate.
• Flower: small and yellow in colour.
• Fruit: capsule, pod round( c. capsularis) and
elongated (C.olitorius)
6. Use of jute
• The importance of the jute sector to the
Bangladesh economy, it is a major cash crop for
over three million small farm households, the
largest industry, producing about one-third of
manufacturing output, and the largest agricultural
export commodity in Bangladesh. Jute is used
chiefly to make cloth for wrapping bales of raw
cotton, and to make sacks and coarse cloth. The
fibers are also woven into curtains, chair
coverings, carpets, area rugs, hessian cloth, and
backing for linoleum.

from the leaves of evergreen
shrub or tree. It is
predominantly an agro-based
export-oriented evergreen crop
in Bangladesh and a perennial
crop grown as a monoculture on
large contiguous areas. Under
natural conditions, a tea plant
grows to a small tree.
9. Botanical description of tea
• Plant: evergreen shurbs or small tree.
• Stem: small, colour varies from full green
branched with alternate elliptical leaves.
• Root: two types of roots, “feeding roots” and
“extension roots”. The fibrous roots are thin
0.3 to 3.0 mm and much branched .
• Leaf: thick and hard and the surface is glossy
green.
• Flower: white, fragrant and up to 4 cm
diameter, with five petals.
10. Use of tea
• Bangladesh is an important tea-producing
country. It is the 10th largest tea producer in
the world. Tea is the second largest export
oriented cash crop of Bangladesh,
following jute. Exports In 2019, Bangladesh
exported $3.34M in Tea, making it the 58th
largest exporter of Tea in the world. At the
same year, Tea was the 159th most exported
product in Bangladesh.
11. Water Lilly
Water lily is the national
flower of Bangladesh. It’s a
aquatic flower that grows
all over Bangladesh. In
Bangladesh there have so
many ponds, bils, haors,
lakes everywhere in the
country. And water lily is
the common flower in these
water bodies.

• Mashed green roots were used as poultice for
swollen limbs; the roots for problems of the
womb, digestive problems, a rinse for mouth
sores; leaves and flowers as cooling
compresses. Many places people eat water lily
as vegetable. Water lily is a delicious item of
