separating the overlapped fingerprints is a very challenging problem for the existing algorithms. The challenging work in separating overlapped fingerprint is the separation of mixed orientation field into its component orientation field. Relaxation labeling algorithm is proposed to perform the task of separation. Initially, we use Local Fourier analysis method in order to estimate the initial orientation field. Then Relaxation labelling algorithm is employed to detach the initial orientation field. Finally, by using Gabor filter the required component fingerprints are obtained.

Ridges on the internal side of the upper bill tip (i.e., “filing ridges”) of parrots and some cockatoos form patterns that are characteristic of genera and, therefore, can be used for the classification of parrots and cockatoos. These patterns are also individually variable and, thus, could be used to fingerprint individual parrots. The objectives of our project were to evaluate the degree of individual variability and to develop a method and algorithm for registering and comparing the patterns of ridges by using a rigid registration technique. Within the data sets, we have been able to successfully identify each anonymized specimen using this method. For 22 of the 27 anonymized specimens, we found a degree of magnitude (the total error taken as the sum of distances between corresponding points) to be on the scale of 101 or greater between the match with the correct specimen and the match with all other members of the data set via a squared residual error assessment. For the remaining specimens, instances occurred in which the difference was smaller for two birds, but the correct bird was identified, nonetheless, while accurately ruling out over 90% of the incorrect bird matches.

Class Characteristics
When the characteristics of physical evidence are common to a group of objects or
persons, they may be termed class. Regardless of how thoroughly examined, such
evidence can be placed only into a broad category; an individual identification
cannot be made because there is a possibility of more than one source for the
evidence.
Individual Characteristics
Evidence with individual characteristics can be identified as originating with a
particular person or source.
Soil is the natural accumulation of earth materials, such as weathering rocks,
minerals, and decomposing plants, along with pollen.minerals, and decomposing plants, along with pollen.
1. Soil examinations can determine whether soils share a common
origin by comparing color, texture, and composition.
2. Although it is class characteristic evidence, the analysis of soil
evidence can help focus investigations and discredit alibis.

Locating and Handling Soil Evidence
Soil evidence may be important when the suspect drives or walks on unpaved
areas, so that it is picked up by tire treads or the bottom of shoes and cuffs of
the pants. It may also be recovered in a number of other places, such as the
floor board of the subject's car or on articles in the trunk of his vehicle,
including shovels and blankets.

apparent, turn the lights off and search for them using a flashlight.

In fact, koala fingerprints are remarkably similar to human fingerprints; even with an electron microscope, it can be quite difficult to distinguish between the two. Did you know? As we have learned in our first lesson, a fingerprint is made of a series of ridges and valleys on the surface of the finger. The uniqueness of a fingerprint can be determined by the pattern of ridges and valleys as well as the minutiae points, which are points where the ridge structure changes.
3. Fingerprint Identification When minutiae on two different prints match, these are called points of similarity or points of identification . At this point there is no international standard for the number of points of identification required for a match between two fingerprints. However, the United Kingdom requires a minimum sixteen points while Australia requires twelve .
