TITLE: MARINE SEAWEEDS EXTRACTION USING SILVER NANOPARTICLES
2.
3. PREPARATION OF SEAWEED EXTRACTION
Collected seaweeds samples (agar or alginate polysaccharides) were washed
with distilled water or Ethanol.
Washed samples were dried under shade at room temperature for one week.
The dried materials were grind into fine powders.
Powdered seaweeds samples were subjected to aqueous extraction and
filtrates were refrigerated at 4 degree Celsius.
4. SYNTHESIS OF SILVER NANOPARTICLES
For Ag nanoparticles synthesis 10mL of seaweed aqueous extract is added
to 90mL aqueous solution of chloroauric acid (HAuCl4.3H2O) and silver
nitrate (AgNO3) respectively.
Then after 2 to 10 minutes of vigorous stirring, the mixture starts the
colour changing to reddish brown indicates the formation of Ag
nanoparticles.
5. APPLICATIONS OF BIOMATERIALS SEAWEEDS NANOPARTICLES
ACTIVITY
Marine polysaccharides posses antioxidant, anticancer, antidiabetes and cardio
protective activities.
Carregeenum, polysaccharides derived from seaweeds is used to drug
encapsulation and drug delivery.
Moreover, seaweed mediated silver nanoparticles develop better tools to
control malaria, dengue, etc..
Cinereum, mediated Ag nanoparticles gives excellent antibacterial activity
against multi drug resistant organisms.
Aqueous extract of Sargassum muticum, brown algae mediated synthesis of
ZnO nanoparticles showed anticancer activity and specific role in
nanomedicine.
