PAST CONTINUOUS
Use
We use the “past continuous” to talk about something that was happening continuously
in a designated time in the past. Ex.: At 10 0’clock last night I was sleeping.
COMPARE:
I am eating. (estou comendo, presente, neste momento).
I was eating. (estava comendo, passado, num momento do passado).
Past continuous – verb to be (in the past) + ing
Form
Positive Negative Question
I was playing. I wasn’t playing. Was I playing?
You were playing. You weren’t playing. Were you playing?
He/ She/ It was playing. He/ She/ It wasn’t playing. Was he/she/it playing?
We/ You/ They were playing. We/ You/ They weren’t playing. Were we/you/they playing?

2. PREPOSITIONS OF MOVEMENT
 Getting off/ on(to) the bus.

Usamos o “past simple” para falar de Usamos o “past continuous” para falar
algo que começou e TERMINOU no de algo que estava acontecendo num
passado. / We use the "past simple" to momento do passado./ We use the

Podemos usar o “past simple” e “past continuous juntos numa mesma frase com

Usamos o “past simple” para falar de uma “ação curta” acabada (completa). We
use the past simple to talk about a "short action" finished (complete).
Usamos o “past continuous” para uma situação mais longa, com duração maior.
We use the "past continuous" to a longer, lasting action.
