REPORTED QUESTIONS
We report questions in the form of statement, not like questions. We report like if
we were answering the question made in the directed speech. It is the same
rule of reported speech: present simple goes to past simple, present continuous
goes to past continuous, etc.
Ex.: “Can I dance?”, she asked. → She asked if she could dance.
“ What’s your name?”, he asked. → He asked what my name was.
Yes/ No Question
My name was Charlie.
We use “if” or “whether” when we are reporting yes/no questions.

Examples where five?’
‘Do you like English?’

She asked you if you could sing when you
