Once upon a time, in a very thick forest lived many animals, birds, snakes and
insects. There was also a bat among them. There was a bitter war between the animals
and the birds. The bat did not join either side, but waited to see who would gain the
upper hand.
Now answer the following:
1. Where did the animals and birds live?
2. What do you generally see in a forest other than animals?
3. Which group did the bat join? Animals / Birds
4. Why did not the bat join any group?
5. Name any two animals and birds you see in your surroundings.
Task – II (10 Marks)
Continue reading narrative
First, when the birds began to win, the bat joined the birds and said “Hai,
(friends) birds I am your friend, look I have wings like you! ” later when the animals
looked like winning, the bat said “ Hai Dear animals, I am your friend.”
Write a possible conversation between the animals and the bat.

After the discussion with the bat all the animals and the birds went back to their
homes. On the way a fox one of the animals in the forest felt like inviting other
animals to its house for a feast.
Task – III (10 Marks)
Write down an invitation which the fox might have made. So, all the animals and the
birds went for the feast. Among the birds the crow which was living with his wife in
the huge banyan tree in the middle of the forest could not attend the feast as it had a
problem with black a snake living in the same tree.
Task – IV (5 Marks)
State whether the statements are true or false in the brackets given below.
1) All the birds attended the feast ( )
2) The crow could not attend the feast ( )
3) The snake was a friendly one ( )
4) The banyan tree was a small tree ( )
5) The crow and the snake lived at a corner of the forest ( )
