Mba project on recruitment and selection processAnil Kumar Singh
Abstract: In this research paper, a study hs been made on the recruitment and selection processes between the two different sectors, i.e; Manufacturing sector and Services sector. The study indicates various techniques used by the two companies, that is, Kudos Chemical Limited, that is a manufacturing company and Virasat-e-Khalsa which belongs to the services sector. The study made under observation comprises of the services and guidance of a recruitment agency called Jobachievers, that is functioning from its office at Chandigarh, to provide job opportunities to the dserving candidates, in mostly areas in Punjab.
Index Terms: Recruitment, Selection
1) INTRODUCTION
The two companies undertaken in the project study comprises of a manufacturing firm named KUDOS CHEMICAL LIMITED and a servicing unit named VIRASAT-E-KHALSA. The former is having a chemical base and is in the business of manufacturing “caffeine”.
The latter is a service unit, having the structure of a theme museum, in which the culture of Punjab has been depicted in a versatile manner. Both of the companies need an adequate base of employees, who can carry out the various functions int the firms. Due to the different nature of the working aspects of these two firms, the recruitment and the selection process of both the firms are entirely different.
The only area in which the recruitment process of these two firms concides is that both the firms seeks out the help of recruitment agencies to find the appropriate and deserving candidates for their firms. The project report, hereby, includes my work at such a recruitment agency named “JOBACHIEVERS” under which I studied the recruitment and selection processes of various firms and prepared my project report on the comparison between the recruitment and selection process of a manufacturing firm and a service firm.
The process of recruitment begins with the sending of the “Job description” by the company. The job description is comprising of the following requirements:
1) Position vacant
This very first point, clarifies to the recruiter, for which required position, the candidate is needed. The recruiter then make use of the data that is available to him, or creates new data of the candidates. Since I undergone the training in a job consultancy, there was pre-recorded data already available. Thus, the recruiter can contact the person and can make him attend the scheduled interview for the required post.
2) Examining the Job description
The Job description provided by the company tells the recruiter, the complete insight of the position vacant and also provides the knowledge of what the company is seeking in the required candidate. Understanding the complete JD (Job description) only can help the recruiter to move to the next step. If the recruiter fails to understand the need of the company from the JD provided, then all of the steps undertaken by the recruiter would turn out to be a failure.

Do Problems 1, 2, 3, Below and 7-4, 7-10, 7-11, 9.3, 6-7, and Risk Analysis Questions
#3,5 and 8.
1. You make decorative stones for landscaping. A ton of coarse stones requires 2 hours
of crushing, 5 hours of sifting, and 8 hours of drying. A ton of fine stones requires 6
hours of crushing, 3 hours of sifting, and 2 hours of drying. The coarse stones sell for
$400 per ton. The fine stones sell for $800 per ton. In a work week your plant is capable
of 36 hours of crushing, 30 hours of sifting, and 40 hours of drying.
Use the graphical method first, to answer a. below. Then use your spreadsheet to verify
your answer and get the numbers you need for b. and c. For full credit for your graph,
draw the constraints and at least one iso-revenue line. Draw a circle or an arrow to
indicate the optimal point.
Determine:
a. How much of each kind of stones you should make to maximize your revenue.
b. How much revenue you'll make at the maximum.
c. How much it would be worth to you to get another hour of crushing time, sifting time,
or drying time.
2. You make three kinds of computers: Cheap, Good, and Deluxe. These sell for $1500,
$2000, and $2800. The Cheap model requires 3 hours for circuit board installation and 1
hour to fit the peripheral equipment. The Good model requires 1 hour for circuit boards
and 5 hours for peripherals. The deluxe model requires 3 hours for circuit boards and 2
hours for peripherals. You have 120 hours available for circuit board work and 60 hours
for fitting peripherals. Determine:
a. How much of each kind of computers you should make to maximize your revenue.
b. How much revenue you'll make at the maximum.
c. How much it would be worth to you to get another hour of circuit board assembly time
or peripheral fitting time.
This time you'll have to rely on your spreadsheet rather than the graph method. Why?

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Unilever launched surf in 1952, and is the third biggest selling product in the washing
detergent market behind Unilever's Persil and Procter and Gamble's Ariel.
As on 2006, Unilever sold consumer products in 150 countries. As much as 85% of their
profits came from overseas and 7o/o of their profits attributed to Asia and the pacific. Unilever
attempted to break into the Japanese Detergent Market with surf super concentrate. It achieved
14.5% of the market share initially, during the "test marketing" ;which fell down to 2.8oh when
the product was introduced (launched) nationally. Surf had designed to have a distinctive
premeasured packet as in Tea - Bag - like sachets, joined in pairs because convenience was an
important attribute to Japanese consumers. It also had a fresh smell appeal. Japan has a average
monthly sun hours ranging from 110 hours during September to 190 hours during August, and
the average temperature ranges from - 1 degree Celsius to 9 degree Celsius. Japanese washing
machines are popularly have a low agitation function. Despite weak perfornance in the Japanese
market, surf continued to perform wellin several markets including India through 2006.
Answer the questions :
a. Identifu where Unilever might have gone wrong? Was the research
done properly?
b. Suggest an appropriate survey and sampling method for the case.
