Roman iovlev battle - JDI vs Selenide - Selenium CampРоман Иовлев
The Battle on Selenium Camp conferece February 2017
http://seleniumcamp.com/talk/qa-livecoding-battle-typed-element-framework-jdi-vs-untyped-elements-framework-selenide/
Why typed elements (like Buttons, Images, Checkboxes, Links etc.) are bad practice in UI tests? Or are non-typed elements (like SelenideElement for ´em all!) more evil? Is it better to have predefined Element hierarchy or not?
Alexei and Roman have delivered a sound theoretical battle earlier at Heisenbug-2016 Conference in Moscow. But were everything said just words? The both QA wrestlers are still standing behind their concepts and are willing to prove their point at live coding sessions before the judging audience! In this QA Battle the parties will solve problems using a typed framework JDI and an non-typed one – Selenide, commenting their actions. The audience will decide with their votes which of the concept was better.

Test automation (TA) activity has become a key critical work to guarantee the quality of system under test (SUT) by driving test and also development effort effectively. To bring this efficiency to projects, companies are investing on TA projects in a more motivated way. The question here is how we should design the automation strategy to handle complex TA projects together effectively. It can be done by automating test scenarios as E2E (end to end). Vertical E2E TA consists of; automating Test Data Preparation Phase and Unit, Integration and UI tests. For horizontal E2E TA; UI and Integration test cases, which are automated, designed as integrated real user scenarios. I will tell about the prerequisites, principles and key factors to have E2E automated tests. And also I will share hands on experienced E2E test automation projects that Selenium was the key tool.
6 Traits of a Successful Test Automation ArchitectureErdem YILDIRIM
The sector demands that software development life cycle to be delivered faster and cheaper with increasing quality and reliability. TLC (testing life cycle) is a crucuel part of the time, cost and quality level for AUT (Application Under Test). Market got to point that all long ornate talks can be summed up in one word: EFFICIENCY. In quality aspect, automating testing activities had already been came forward to reduce development cycle times, cost, resources allocated with traditional test along past years. It's OK that automation increased the efficiency of the test process, so what about the efficiency of automation itself? Why most of the test automation projects fail (even if you're not aware of it is actually failing)? Because, automating without good test architecture may result in a lot of activity, but little value (if you are lucky). We will talk about following 6 main traits to build a successful test automation architecture; selection/implementation of test levels to be automated, design principles/patterns, locater strategy, tools / framework selection (aside from SeWD / Java), methodology (E2E Testing, TDD, BDD, Continuous Testing) and OOP pillars.

Building a Test Automation Strategy for SuccessLee Barnes
Choosing an appropriate tool and building the right framework are typically thought of as the main challenges in implementing successful test automation. However, long term success requires that other key questions must be answered including:
- What are our objectives?
- How should we be organized?
- Will our processes need to change?
- Will our test environment support test automation?
- What skills will we need?
- How and when should we implement?
In this workshop, Lee will discuss how to assess your test automation readiness and build a strategy for long term success. You will interactively walk through the assessment process and build a test automation strategy based on input from the group. Attend this workshop and you will take away a blue print and best practices for building an effective test automation strategy in your organization.
• Understand the key aspects of a successful test automation function
• Learn how to assess your test automation readiness
• Develop a test automation strategy specific to your organization
Still after over 10 years its hard to do good test automation. This presentation highlights what and how we need to approach test automation in order to create reliable, resilient and repeatable tests.
In agile software development world, we are dealing with many test tasks such as user story testing, exploratory testing, check-list based testing, regression testing, performance testing, security testing in each sprint. Besides these testing activities, one of the test types which is considerably getting crucial is visual regression testing.
Visual regression testing focuses on to check visual contents and animations, page layout, and responsive design of a website/app. Because of the limits of human vision, human-based visual regression testing is generally error-prone and cumbersome. Hence, automation is inevitable. It enables us to run the tests much more precisely in a short time period. Also, it saves us a significant amount of time to deal with other manual test activities in each sprint.
In this talk, we will walk through well-known open-source and commercial solutions for visual test automation. We will learn which technologies they use, what type of visual tests they are suitable for, and their major differences between each other. Besides this overview, we will also make a real-life visual test automation demo by using Selenium, ImageMagick, and AShot.

Testistanbul 2016 - Keynote: "Enterprise Challenges of Test Data" by Rex BlackTurkish Testing Board
If you are testing a simple mobile app, you may find it relatively easy to find representative test data. However, what if you are testing enterprise scale applications? In the enterprise data center, one hundred or more applications of various sizes, complexity, and criticality co-exist, operating on various data repositories, in some cases shared data repositories. In some cases, disparate data repositories hold related data, and the ability to test integration across applications that access these data sets is critical. In this keynote speech, Rex Black will talk about the challenges facing his clients as they deal with these testing problems. You’ll go away with a better understanding of the nature of the challenges, as well as ideas on how to handle them, grounded in lessons Rex has learned in over 30 years of software engineering and testing.
Testistanbul 2016 - Keynote: "The Story of Appium" by Dan CuellarTurkish Testing Board
When I demo’ed what is now called Appium at the Selenium Conference in 2012 I had no idea what I was doing starting an open source project. I knew little about how open source operated and worked behind the scenes. Thanks to the help of a great community and the advice of some seasoned open source contributors, Appium has quickly become the most popular open source mobile automation framework. Along the way, mistakes were made, lessons were learned, and occasionally we got things right. I’ve put together a collection of stories and lessons that I’d like to share with others to help everyone manage, contribute to, and consume open source software projects more effectively.
Automated verification is becoming increasingly important. Getting a product from idea to customer as fast as possible in a Continuous Delivery, or a Deployment pipeline is crucial in more businesses than ever before. But how do we get a product through that pipe line, with high quality? Kristian will talk about how automated verification can get you there.

Testistanbul 2016 - Keynote: "Performance Testing of Big Data" by Roland LeusdenTurkish Testing Board
Agile, Continous Intergration, DevOps, Big data are not longer buzzwords but part of the day today process of everyone working in software development and delivery. To cope with applications that need to be deployed in production almost the same moment they were created, software development has changed, impacting the way of working for everyone in the team. In this talk, Roland will discuss the challenges performance testers face with Big Data applications and how Architecture, Agile, Continous Intergration and DevOps come together to create solutions.
Test Automation
Test automation is the use of test automation software like Selenium or self-developed testware to execute test cases.
Test automation is mostly used to automate repetitive testing tasks in a formalized way. It is also used to execute tests that would be difficult to perform manually like performance testing.
There are many advantages of test automation that are mostly related to the repeatability of the tests and the speed of test execution. There are a lot of commercial and open source tools available which can be grouped into two main categories; Code-Driven and Graphical User Interface Testing. Thus the key success factor in test automation is selecting the right tool and have a specialized test automation team.
It is to use test automation tools by considering ROI (return on investment). Otherwise it is quite easy to waste big amount of energy, commitment and definitely money.

Test Otomasyonu:

This session is a practitioner’s view of testing and testing practices within an iterative/incremental development environment. We will begin with a discussion of some of the challenges of testing within an agile environment and delve into the guiding principles of Agile Testing and key enabling practices. Agile Testing necessitates a change in mindset, and it is as much, if not more, about behavior, as it is about skills and tooling, all of which will be explored.

Large-scale testing projects can stress many of the testing practices we have gotten used to over the years. This can result in less than optimal outcomes. A number of ideas and concepts have therefore emerged to support industrial-strength testing of big and complex projects. In this excerpt from a larger workshop Hans Buwalda shares experiences and the strategies he and his colleagues have used for testing on large projects, both in Europe and the US. Learn how to design tests specifically for automation and how to successfully incorporate keyword testing. See how to obtain more stable automation, what benefits and issues are of virtualization, and what to expect of global outsourcing. The information presented is based on nineteen years of experience with testing and test automation including projects that have tests executing continuously for many weeks on dozens of machines.
In today’s environment of plummeting software delivery cycle times, test automation becomes a more critical and strategic necessity. How can we possibly keep up with software delivery's explosive pace while retaining satisfactory test coverage? How do we keep the reins on costs and reduce risk? Carl Nagle maintains that the long-term solution is a greater level of “sustainable” test automation. The Software Automation Framework Support (SAFS) method separates test design from test execution with a data-driven, action-based approach that encapsulates volatile application-specific data into readily localizable “maps” for simple maintenance. Test designs (scripts or programs) are completely independent of the ready-to-run SAFS engines that will execute them. And since the test design methodology does not change over long periods of time, testers can focus more on getting robust automation in place quickly and pay less attention to each new technology, testing tool, or test IDE. Join Carl to learn how test automation thrives when testers and tools are not tied up in application-specific silos.

Large-Scale Agile Test Automation Strategies in PracticeTechWell
After providing an introduction to several key agile testing concepts—including the Automation Triangle and the Test Automation Quadrants—Geoff Meyer discusses approaches to effectively deliver automated testing. Geoff shares practical insights and demonstrates how they were employed in the test automation strategies developed for several large-scale agile projects at Dell. He shows how the overall test strategy and implementation of each underlying agile concept was influenced by the realities of the project’s organization structure, application architecture, incumbent tools, and tester skillsets. Geoff explores the similarities of the projects from their common goals of establishing automated regression suites, achieving in-sprint automation, and test staffing approaches. More importantly, he delves into the implications of organizational structures and how they led to divergent approaches to test strategy from the choice of automation frameworks to the decisions to automate at the REST/SOAP-based API level or UI level.

Providing Globus Services to Users of JASMIN for Environmental Data AnalysisGlobus
JASMIN is the UK’s high-performance data analysis platform for environmental science, operated by STFC on behalf of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC). In addition to its role in hosting the CEDA Archive (NERC’s long-term repository for climate, atmospheric science & Earth observation data in the UK), JASMIN provides a collaborative platform to a community of around 2,000 scientists in the UK and beyond, providing nearly 400 environmental science projects with working space, compute resources and tools to facilitate their work. High-performance data transfer into and out of JASMIN has always been a key feature, with many scientists bringing model outputs from supercomputers elsewhere in the UK, to analyse against observational or other model data in the CEDA Archive. A growing number of JASMIN users are now realising the benefits of using the Globus service to provide reliable and efficient data movement and other tasks in this and other contexts. Further use cases involve long-distance (intercontinental) transfers to and from JASMIN, and collecting results from a mobile atmospheric radar system, pushing data to JASMIN via a lightweight Globus deployment. We provide details of how Globus fits into our current infrastructure, our experience of the recent migration to GCSv5.4, and of our interest in developing use of the wider ecosystem of Globus services for the benefit of our user community.

Developing Distributed High-performance Computing Capabilities of an Open Sci...Globus
COVID-19 had an unprecedented impact on scientific collaboration. The pandemic and its broad response from the scientific community has forged new relationships among public health practitioners, mathematical modelers, and scientific computing specialists, while revealing critical gaps in exploiting advanced computing systems to support urgent decision making. Informed by our team’s work in applying high-performance computing in support of public health decision makers during the COVID-19 pandemic, we present how Globus technologies are enabling the development of an open science platform for robust epidemic analysis, with the goal of collaborative, secure, distributed, on-demand, and fast time-to-solution analyses to support public health.
Understanding Globus Data Transfers with NetSageGlobus
NetSage is an open privacy-aware network measurement, analysis, and visualization service designed to help end-users visualize and reason about large data transfers. NetSage traditionally has used a combination of passive measurements, including SNMP and flow data, as well as active measurements, mainly perfSONAR, to provide longitudinal network performance data visualization. It has been deployed by dozens of networks world wide, and is supported domestically by the Engagement and Performance Operations Center (EPOC), NSF #2328479. We have recently expanded the NetSage data sources to include logs for Globus data transfers, following the same privacy-preserving approach as for Flow data. Using the logs for the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) as an example, this talk will walk through several different example use cases that NetSage can answer, including: Who is using Globus to share data with my institution, and what kind of performance are they able to achieve? How many transfers has Globus supported for us? Which sites are we sharing the most data with, and how is that changing over time? How is my site using Globus to move data internally, and what kind of performance do we see for those transfers? What percentage of data transfers at my institution used Globus, and how did the overall data transfer performance compare to the Globus users?

SOCRadar Research Team: Latest Activities of IntelBrokerSOCRadar
The European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (Europol) has suffered an alleged data breach after a notorious threat actor claimed to have exfiltrated data from its systems. Infamous data leaker IntelBroker posted on the even more infamous BreachForums hacking forum, saying that Europol suffered a data breach this month.
The alleged breach affected Europol agencies CCSE, EC3, Europol Platform for Experts, Law Enforcement Forum, and SIRIUS. Infiltration of these entities can disrupt ongoing investigations and compromise sensitive intelligence shared among international law enforcement agencies.
However, this is neither the first nor the last activity of IntekBroker. We have compiled for you what happened in the last few days. To track such hacker activities on dark web sources like hacker forums, private Telegram channels, and other hidden platforms where cyber threats often originate, you can check SOCRadar’s Dark Web News.
