BJP. People are speculat-
ing setback to the party
ahead of polls in Uttar

feel that her exit will not

On 22nd of October 2016 , the residents of
pocket-E , GTB ENCLAVE were more than
happy on the inauguration of first of its kind
‘HERBAL PARK’ . The park that is named
after Lt. NETA JI SUBHASH CHANDRA-
BOSE is one of a kind. The project that
started almost a year ago was taken under
the responsible wings of the Residents
Welfare Association. The chief guest for
the event Ms. Swati Gupta, chancellor of
the area was proud of the fact that pocket-
E has set up a great example of how to use
the natural resources well by opening the
park. She said “ I certainly believe that this
concept should be adopted all across
Delhi. Nowadays we are all going towards
nature and when we are going towards
nature we should use all the available
resources that nature has offered”. On
being asked, if we can see more herbal
parks in the area, she answered “ofcourse
see the parks that come under M.C.D are
under our control and we try our level best
to help anyone who comes up with a good
initiative.
When R.W.A requested that they want to
open a herbal park, we provided them with
all the resources”. In future we will see
herbal parks as well as kitchen parks which
will also help to grow awareness about dif-
ferent plants and their benefits to people.
The man behind this unique concept is Mr.
Maheshwar Dutt, the president of the
Residents Welfare Association of the area.
Mr.Dutt, who is renowned environmentalist,
believes that this park is a gift to the future
generation of the area. On being asked that
how did this journey began he said “ about
an year ago this place was in a very differ-
ent state than it is right now. I focused on
the needs of the public. As R.W.A is the
body that is to help the people we tried to
come up with the solutions. Most troubling
issues of the area are like theft and no
proper parks. With the help of the people
and our team today, I can say that these
two problems have been under control. We
have managed to open 8 parks in the area
and CCTVs alongwith a control room, has
been set up all across the colony to keep a
proper check on the streets. We did it
because its our responsibility as an elected
body to help the people.” When asked how
difficult was it to open a park Mr.Dutt said,
“see in any case funding is the most impor-
tant factor. Without proper monetary sup-
port its really hard for a project to be com-
pleted.
The government authorities were taking a
lot of time to provide us with proper funds.
That is when I presented the concept of
public private partnership to the residents.
All the residents of the area cooperated
and contributed funds for this park the park
was made in a budget of rupees 55000
againt the budget in government books that
was rupees 20 lakhs.” Mr. Dutt was grateful
to all the residents of the area. “Over the
years this R.W.A body has worked most
efficiently, we are proud of Maheshwar Ji “

be opening for public within next 6 months,
will have plants and trees with medicinal

Smriti Irani, Union Textiles Minister was relieved by court
in a fake degree case, observing that a petition accusing
her of faking a college degree has been filed to “need-
lessly harass her”. This order comes as a big relief for
the 40-year-old minister, who was shifted out of the high-
profile Human Resource Development Ministry in a cab-
inet reshuffle a few months ago and was alloted the tex-
tile department which was being seen as a demotion.
The degree case was filed last year by a man called
Ahmer Khan, who accused Smriti Irani of making contra-
dictory statements about her education in affidavits that
she filed while contesting different elections. While Ms.
Irani had in 2004 said she had a 1996 Bachelor of Arts or
BA degree from Delhi University, in later elections, she
said her highest educational qualification was B.com,
Part 1 (correspondence course) from Delhi University.
Ms. Irani has deliberately furnished incorrect details,
which is punishable by law. The court had asked the
Election Commission and Delhi University to submit
details of Ms. Irani’s graduation degree, but they both
said it could be traced.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump
slammed his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, saying her
victory in the upcoming US presidential elections would
result in “four more years of Obama” and the “spread of
ISIS”.

got four more years of (Barack) Obama. We have a dis-
aster. We have ISIS all over,” Trump said during his
address in North Carolina.

Syrian government opens new
Aleppo corridor for evacuations
The Syrian government on Friday opened
a new corridor for rebels and civilians who
want to leave the besieged eastern neigh-
borhoods of Aleppo, but the UN said
planned medical evacuations haven’t
begun as planned because of a lack of
security assurances from the warring
sides.
The evacuations, part of a Russia-
announced pause in fighting, were
announced a day earlier with great hopes
by UN1 officials.
But the spokesman for the UN’s humani-
tarian aid agency, Jens Laerke, described
an “astronomically difficult situation,”
although he declined to specify who was
responsible for the breakdown in the
plans.
Speaking to reporters in Geneva, Laerke
said that the evacuations couldn’t begin
“because the necessary conditions were
not in place to ensure safe, secure and
voluntary” movement of people. UN
humanitarian aid official Jan Egeland said
the UN had received the “green lights” for
the evacuations from Syria’s government,
armed opposition groups and Russia,
which announced a pause in fighting in
rebel-held eastern Aleppo.
Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov
said al-Qaida-linked militants in Aleppo
were refusing to leave the city along the
corridors created by the Russians and
Syrian forces. He told reporters in
Moscow that Russia is “seriously con-
cerned that, despite the gestures of good-
will from Moscow and Damascus,” the
fighters from the al-Qaida affiliate previ-
ously known as the Nusra Front are
“refusing to leave the city.”
Aleppo’s civilians are also being prevent-
ed from leaving the eastern, rebel-held
part of the city through the corridors,
Lavrov added.

The Pakistan Supreme Court has held that a psychiatric
disorder like schizophrenia does not subjugate the death
sentence.
“In our opinion, rules relating to mental sickness are not
subjugative to delay the execution of death sentence
which has been awarded to the convict,” says the
Supreme Court in its 11-page judgment on the famous
Imdad Ali case.
Safia Bano, wife of the convict Imdad Ali, had
approached the Supreme Court, claiming that her hus-
band was insane and the execution of death sentence
may be delayed till he gets medical treatment so that he
can write down his will.
Imdad, from Burewala district of southern Punjab, was
awarded death sentence in 2002 in a murder case. His
sentence was upheld by all superior courts, including the
Supreme Court. The president has also rejected his
mercy petition.

Delhi: The Indian Coast Guard Ships ‘Aryaman’ and
‘Atulya’, the eighteenth and nineteenth in the series of
twenty Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), designed and built by
Cochin Shipyard Limited, were commissioned at Kochi
by Financial Advisor to Defence Services Shri Sunil
Kumar Kohli. Additional Director General K Natarajan
Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard) was
present on the occasion. The ceremony was also attend-
ed by Inspector General VS Pathania Commander Coast
Guard Region (West) and flag/senior officers of Indian
Navy and dignitaries from Armed Forces, Central and

The 50m long indigenous FPVs displace 317 tonnes of
water and can achieve a maximum speed of 33 knots
with range of 1500 nautical miles at an economical
speed of 13 knots. Equipped with state-of-the-art
weaponry, advanced communication and navigational
equipment, the ships are ideal platform for undertaking
multifarious close-coast missions such as surveillance,
search and rescue and interdiction. The special features
of the ships include an Integrated Bridge Management
System (IBMS) and Integrated Machinery Control
System (IMCS).

Movie Review: ‘1:13:7 EkTera Saath’
Arshad Siddiqui’s ‘1:13:7 Ek Tera Saath’, is a shoddily
executed film that includes romance, horror and paranor-
mal activities.
Set in Rajasthan, the film follows Kunwar Aditya Pratap
Singh, the Prince of Jodhpur who manipulates his way to
prevent his treasured home, the Darbar Palace, from
being converted into a luxury hotel. The story takes a
twist when a spirit takes advantage of Kunwar Aditya
Pratap’s deeds.
While the premise of the film is interesting, the plot trots
on a convoluted, yet run-of-the-mill path. The writing,
which includes the dialogues, is mediocre and lacklustre.
The characters, with no depth to their arcs and pouting
frivolous lines, are lazily etched making them paper thin
and shallow. Their demeanour makes the entire narrative
unconvincing and the fault lies not in the cast, but the
director’s inept handling of the project.
Ssharad Malhotra who is oft seen on Indian television, is
a fine actor, but as Kunwar Aditya Pratap Singh, he is
loud and unconvincing. Similarly, Melanie Nazareth
essaying Aditya’s girlfriend – Sonali and Hritu Dudani in
a double role portraying Aditya’s wife Kasturi and her
look alike Nikita Chaudhauri, are weak and unimpres-
sive.
Deepraj Rana in a mystic role of an Investigating Police
office, is bland and wasted. Vishwajeet Pradhan as the
conniving uncle of the Prince, is staid and perfunctory.

11. Mumbai: The Central Bureau of
Investigation (CBI) has named NRI
defence consultant Vipin Khanna as the
key beneficiary in the FIR lodged in the
2008 Embraer aircraft purchase deal.
Mr. Khanna, 87, is accused of receiving
nearly $6-million from Embraer, the
world’s third largest aircraft maker, to bro-
ker the deal. The Commission was
allegedly paid to him in 2009. A
Singapore-based company has also been
named. Following a reference from the
Ministry of Defence, the CBI, in
September, initiated a preliminary enquiry
(PE) into the bribery allegations. A joint
US-Brazil investigation into Embraer, has
uncovered a bribery case leading to a
deal signed between the company and
DRDO in 2008 for three aircraft equipped
with indigenous radars for AEW&C (air-
borne early warning and control sys-
tems).Embraer also sold VVIP executive
jets to the Indian Air Force. This deal is
also likely to come under a probe.
According to FIR by CBI, Vipin Khanna
significantly benefitted from the kickbacks
and from a Singapore-based company,
Interdev Pte Ltd, as the entity via which
the money was routed in three tranches
through a subsidiary of Embraer.

15. Markets regulator SEBI is mulling a greater push to put in
place strong safeguards against cyber threats to bourses,
brokerages and other entities, amid concerns over the
largest-ever banking data breach wherein 32 lakh debit
cards are feared to have been ‘compromised’.
The regulator will also look at the best global practices in
this regard including through inputs from the regulatory
authorities in advanced markets, while consultations will be
held with government entities as well as with the informa-
tion technology and cyber security experts, a senior official
said. While the Securities and Exchange Board of India
(SEBI), which is mandated to regulate stock exchanges,
clearing corporations, brokerages, portfolio managers, fund
houses, rating agencies and a host of other entities in the
capital market space, is already in the process of appoint-
ing a chief IT security officer to oversee various initiatives
aimed at protecting the mar-
ketpace from cyber threats.
The regulator has further

wants to fast-track the work
on a new and stronger policy
framework in the areas of
cyber security in the wake of
the recent suspected com-
promise of 32 lakh debit
cards across various banks,
presumably due to a cyber
malware attack in the ATM
network systems of a private
sector bank, the official said.
The matter assumes signifi-
cance as the entire market-
pace is closely linked and a
cyber security threat in one
segment of the capital mar-
kets can prove to be disas-
trous for other segments as
well.

FinMin expects report on debit
card data breach in 10 days
Delhi: The Finance Ministry has asked various agencies,
including RBI, which are looking into the largest banking
security breach involving over 32 lakh debit cards, to
submit their report in 10 days. “We expect result of the
technical enquiry in the next 8-10 days. This will give us
exact picture of the entire incidence. It will give us lead
as to where hacking or compromise took place,” Finance
Ministry sources said.
Earlier this week, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had said
the government asked RBI and banks to provide details
of the data breach and also banks’ preparedness to deal
with cyber crimes. As many as 32.14 lakh debit cards of
various public and private sector banks are feared to
have been ‘compromised’ by cyber malware attack in
some ATM systems.
Several banks, including state-owned SBI, have recalled
a number of cards while many others blocked the ones
suspected to have been compromised and asked their
customers to change PIN (personal identification num-
ber) before use. Fraudulent withdrawals have been
reported from 19 banks so far while complaints have
been received from a few banks that their customers’
cards were used fraudulently abroad, mainly in China
and the US while the customers were in India. According
to the National Payments Corporation of India, as many
as 641 customers across 19 banks have been duped of
Rs 1.3 crore using stolen debit card data.
