2. CBSE Disaffiliates 20 Schools For Engaging In Malpractice
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has
disaffiliated 20 schools for engaging in malpractices. The
Board has disaffiliated Five schools from Delhi alone.
A notification by the CBSE said the stringent action was taken
after discrepancies were found in adherence to affiliation and
examination norms during surprise inspections by the board.
CBSE also said that these schools were committing various
malpractices of presenting dummy students, ineligible
candidates and were not maintaining records properly.
After a thorough inquiry, the board decided to disaffiliate
and downgrade them.

3. King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck conferred
Bhutan’s highest civilian award, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo,
on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Thimpu on Friday.
Prime Minister Modi is the first foreign leader to be given this
prestigious award.
The citation of the Order states that the award recognises
Prime Minister Modi’s personal accomplishments and
leadership, and his contributions to strengthen the bonds of
friendship between India and Bhutan.

4. Directorate General of Civil Aviation has imposed a financial
penalty of eighty lakh rupees on Air India Limited for
violation of regulations about Flight Duty Time Limitations,
FDTL and Fatigue Management System, FMS of the flight
crew.
DGCA conducted a spot audit of Air India Limited in
January this year to verify the regulatory compliance by the
operator in respect for FDTL and FMS regulations.
During the audit, the evidences were collected and fleet-
wise random reports were analyzed.
DGCA said in a release that the analysis of reports and
evidences revealed that Air India Limited operated flights
with both flight crew aged above 60 years flying together
in a few instances, which is a violation of Aircraft Rules.

5. 1st Foreign Office Consultations Between India And Mauritania
Held In Nouakchott
The 1st Foreign Office Consultations between India and Mauritania was
held in Nouakchott.
During the consultations, both delegations engaged in constructive
discussions on a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of
mutual interest.
External Affairs Ministry said, the discussions encompassed various facets
of collaboration, including political cooperation, economic partnership,
development assistance, cultural exchanges, and cooperation in
multilateral forums.
India and Mauritania share long-standing ties of friendship and
collaboration.
The bilateral trade between India and Mauritania has grown steadily
during the last three years and it reached over 378 million US dollar
during 2022-23, from 108 million US dollar in 2021-22.
India’s Resident Mission has been opened in June 2021 which has been
providing impetus in strengthening our bilateral relations.

6. India And Bhutan Exchanged Several MoUs To Strengthen Partnership
India and Bhutan today exchanged several agreements of mutual
interest to further strengthen their partnership.
The documents were exchanged between India and Bhutan in the
presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of
Bhutan Tshering Tobgay in Thimphu.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Bhutan will give new boost to
bilateral relationship by focusing on developmental partnership. India is
currently engaged in capacity development of Bhutan and assisting
several projects in the sectors including Hydroelectric, digitization,
financial inclusion, health and education.
India is providing support to various digital programmes like E-Business
National Single Window, Bhutan Integrated Taxation System, Integrated
Citizen Services, and Digital School to enable Bhutan becoming a

7. UN General Assembly Approves First Resolution On Artificial Intelligence
The UN General Assembly has approved the first resolution on
Artificial Intelligence, AI.
The resolution gives global support to an international effort to
ensure the powerful new technology benefits all nations, respects
human rights and is safe, secure and trustworthy.
The resolution, sponsored by the United States and co-sponsored
by 123 countries was adopted by consensus with a bang of the
gavel and without a vote. It means the resolution has the support of
all 193 U.N. member nations.
Over the past few months, the United States worked with more than
120 countries at the United Nations including Russia, China and
Cuba to negotiate the text of the resolution that was adopted
yesterday.

8. Dhan Bahadur Budha, Minister of Urban Development, Government of Nepal
and Naveen Srivastava, Ambassador of India to Nepal jointly inaugurated the
new building of Shree Jestha Varna Mahavihar, Lalitpur built under GoI’s post-
earthquake reconstruction grant in the cultural heritage sector in Nepal.
The project was taken up under the post-earthquake reconstruction grant in
the cultural heritage sector in Nepal.
The Jestha Varna Mahavihar, which got damaged during the 2015 Gorkha
earthquake, has now been reconstructed with Government of India’s Grant
assistance at a tendered cost of NPR 13.78 cr.
The project has been implemented by Central Level Project Implementation
Unit, Government of Nepal.

9. UN Security Council To Vote On US Resolution
On Gaza Ceasefire
The United Nations Security Council is set to vote on Friday on the
United States’ resolution calling for an immediate and sustained
cease-fire in Gaza to protect civilians and enable humanitarian aid
for Palestinians.
on the other hand, the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met
with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv today as
part of an intensive diplomatic push to reach a cease-fire.
Earlier, the European Union called for an immediate cease-fire in
the Israel-Hamas war in Brussels. The United Nations’ Secretary-
General António Guterres also travelled to Brussels to meet with
European leaders and urged them to back a cease-fire.

The theme for this year is ‘Water for prosperity and peace’. It

In Table Tennis, India’s Sathiyan Gnanasekaran has clinched the Men’s
Singles title at WTT Feeder Beirut tournament in Lebanon yesterday.
World Number 103 Sathiyan defeated compatriot and World Number 74
Manav Vikas Thakkar, 3-1 (6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4) victory over
compatriot Manav Vikas Thakkar in the final yesterday.
Earlier, Sathiyan overpowered World Number 39 Chinese Taipei’s Chuang
Chih-yuan in the semi-finals.
However, Manav had a heartbreaking day as he missed out on any gold
medal despite making it in all three finals.
He lost 1-3 to a Cuban pair in the men’s doubles final, partnering
Manush Utpal Shah. Earlier, he lost in the mixed doubles final to another
Indian pair of Diya Chitale and Manush Shah.
