6. ‘We’ is used to indicate two or
more than two persons.
 Look at the following sentences:

2. We have various duties towards our families.
3. We enjoy watching T.V. in our free time.

7. ‘It’ can be used for one
thing/object.
 Look at the following sentences:
1. It is my car.
2. It is a wonderful evening.
3. I don’t know anything about it.
4. It is very cold.

8. ‘You’ indicates the person with
whom you are talking.
 Look at the following sentences:
1. You are my friend.
2. You have a good collection of saris.
3. You dance very well.

9. ‘he’, ‘she’ and ‘it’ the main verb
uses ‘s/es’
 Look at He plays cricket.
1. He has a big house.
2. He is a nice boy.
3. She dances very well.
4. She has lots of jewelry.
5. She is a religious lady.
6. “It” is used for non human things.
7. It also uses s/es with the main verb.

10. ‘They’ is used for a group or to
represent a plural number
 Look at the following sentences:
1. They are playing.
2. They have big plans.
3. They like watching movies.

11. ‘self’ & ‘selves’ When you want to
emphasize/ highlight something
 Look at the following sentences
 I myself washed the clothes.
 I washed the clothes myself.
 We ourselves moved the furniture
 We moved the furniture ourselves.
 You yourself had given me this book.
 You had given me this book yourself.

12. This’: It is used to introduce
someone or something that you
are going to talk about
 Look at the following sentences.
1. This is the pen which I
purchased yesterday.
2. This is what I will do. I will talk
to my parents about it.
3. This article is from ‘The Times of
India’.
4. This is fantastic.
5. This is awesome.

13. ‘These’: It is used in the similar
fashion but with reference to a
plural number.
 Look at the following sentences.
1. These are the pens which I
purchased yesterday.
2. These are the things which I will do
tomorrow.
3. These articles are from ‘The
Speaking Tree’ column of ‘The
Times of India’.
4. These pages are from ‘The Times of
India’.

14. ‘That’: (i) It is used to refer to
something or someone placed
at a distance
 Look at the following sentences.
1. That blue house is mine.
2. Where is the book that I brought
yesterday?
3. It is stated in the report that you
disappeared without informing.
4. That is my car.

15. ‘Those’: It is used in the similar
fashion but with reference to a
plural number.
 Look at the following sentences.
1. Those are the government
quarters.
2. Where are the books those I
brought yesterday?
3. All those who will disobey the
law will be punished.
4. Those are the government offices
