This document provides an agenda and summary for a community meeting about renovating the Durham Main Library. It introduces the project team and discusses the current status and design process. Key points include verifying the program from 2009, reviewing how libraries are changing with more technology and flexible spaces, and gathering community priorities for the new library to serve diverse users. The meeting objectives are to share the project background, get community thoughts to help shape the vision, and focus on high-level ideas rather than details.
A program called "Top Library Building Trends" that was conducted at ALA Annual 2010 (June 28, 2010) by LLAMA BES.

Topics will include the rethinking of spaces for services, new building design, and other “must have” items to keep your library up-to-date. Each panelist will provide a brief presentation with slides. The entire panel will then field questions from the audience.
Speakers: Kimberly Bolan Cullin, Providence Associates LLC, Indianapolis, IN; Joan Frye Williams, Sacramento, CA, Library Consultant and Futurist; Barbara Norland, District of Columbia Public Library, Senior Librarian, Building Projects; Jeffrey Scherer, Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd. After a show closes, how you handle and store materials can mean the difference between preserving theatre legacy and irreversible damage and loss. This workshop introduces theatre artists to the process of archiving their work, with tips on selection, storage and preservation. The American Theatre Archive Project (ATAP) is a collaboration of archivists, dramaturgs, and academics who support theatre makers in archiving records of their work for the benefit of future generations of artists, scholars, patrons, and the public. Members of ATAP’s New York City team have collaborated with Atlantic Theater Company, Castillo Theatre, Cherry Lane Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, HERE, and the Medicine Show Theatre Ensemble on preserving their histories. Invited panelists from HERE, The Living Theatre and Medicine Show speak about what preserving legacy means to them and their institutions.

Advocating Open Access: Before, during and after HEFCENick Sheppard
Since “self-archiving” of research outputs was first mooted in the mid-1990s, initiatives towards “green” Open Access (OA) across the sector have met with generally limited success and coverage in institutional and subject repositories is generally cited at around 20-30%. However, since the Finch report in 2012 combined with OA policies from RCUK, also in 2012, and HEFCE the following year, there is little doubt that a tipping point of awareness has been reached. This session will aim to contextualise the HEFCE policy in the broader history of Open Access and present a case study of a non-research intensive University and how the repository manager has sought to liaise with academic support services in order to facilitate knowledge exchange across the University. - See more at: http://www.cilip.org.uk/events/open-access-advocacy#sthash.9YqReHt0.dpuf
