This document provides information about the SHRP 2 Roadway Information Database (RID). The RID contains data from existing Department of Transportation databases, supplemental mobile van collection, and Highway Performance Monitoring System data. Mobile van data was collected on over 25,000 miles of roads across 6 states, including alignment, lane, shoulder, sign, and other roadway attributes. The RID integrates these various data sources into a common linear referencing system and is used to characterize roadway segments for safety analysis. An example demonstrates extracting curve data from North Carolina to identify rural two-lane highways with shoulders less than 6 feet wide.
