At the heart of PARS: an MDM that manages the relationships–between domains, applications and time–required for accurate reporting and analytics.
Acolyance (€522M+revenues) is a leading French agriculture and wine cooperative serving a network of 3,500 agriculture members and 7,000 wine producers. Management is very focused on innovation and is preparing a large-scale transformation for 2014 wherein ERP will be deployed to support most of business processes (finance, accounting, harvest, retailing, procurement, sales, …). Unlike traditional viewpoints with ERP systems as the solution to manage all master data within their perimeter because they were intended to be *the* company core system, Acolyance has decided to make its master data program a prerequisite of its ERP implementation. By having an MDM approach synchronized with the ERP strategy, Acolyance is convinced that ERP will be able to concentrate on its core business processes and to deliver quicker and better. Additionally, MDM enlarges the ERP scope by facilitating collaboration with trading partners. In this session, topics to be discussed include:
- Applying MDM as a key approach to secure ERP implementation projects
- Leveraging MDM to fill in functional weaknesses of ERP systems
- Using MDM to facilitate the update cycle of master data that cannot be updated directly in production systems without ERP customization

(DVO208) Mission-Critical Business Applications in the CloudAmazon Web Services
In every industry, organizations have been looking to move their entire business, not just their back office applications, to the cloud. Until recently, mission-critical applications have not been cloud-ready. Options have been limited to point solutions from multiple vendors that require extensive integration, and cloud applications that simply lack the deep, unique functionality required by manufacturers, hospitals, banks, or hotels. In this session, hear how enterprise application suites that run critical operations and provide real-time analytics have reached the tipping point and now make it possible to run your entire business in the cloud. Session sponsored by Infor.
ERP 2.0 (Cloud, New Functionality, FAH, Integration and M&A Focus)Emtec Inc.
You're almost there! Your ERP has successfully been installed and you are now moving into the next phase of the ERP lifecycle. Time to consider what option will be of most value to your organization, such as Cloud, Fusion Accounting Hub, Analytics, Integration and M&A flexibility.
In digitally-connected exploration and production, enormous amounts of data are created. A single well can generate upwards of a terabyte of data daily and seismic exploration data sets can easily reach several terabytes in size. IBM Aspera software enables Chemicals & Petroleum companies to transfer large files and data sets at maximum speed, fully utilizing the available bandwidth, regardless of file type, size, transfer distance or network conditions, reducing turnaround times for gathering, processing and distribution, alleviating expensive IT infrastructure upgrades, and eliminating the need for slow, costly shipments.

EMC's IT Transformation Journey ( EMC Forum 2014 )EMC
The Cloud transforms IT from being reactive into a business enabler improving your organizations agility. But IT Transformation is not just about technology. It involves changing IT roles, skills, and processes to adapt to the new IT paradigm. Led by EMC IT, let's come together in this insightful session to explore how to transform your IT infrastructure, operating model, and applications.
Building a Robust Foundation for Digital Asset ManagementYokogawa1
No sound operational decision can be made without relevant and accurate plant information to support it. No timely decision can be made if accessing source information is difficult. And no automated actions should be allowed without reliable data inputs and confirmed availability of final control elements. This presentation will showcase how Koch has achieved a solid digital foundation from the sensor level to the digital twin of sensors and beyond, including standardization of how new system devices are categorized and templated making maintenance activities highly repeatable and efficient. The outcome is a solid data foundation off of which higher level advanced analytics can be undertaken for superior asset performance.
The Oil and Gas industry is evolving rapidly. This is why SBM Offshore has launched an enterprise-wide program to redefine its way of working. In this presentation René Meijers, the Head of Data and Information Management at SBM Offshore, will provide an overview of their entire multidomain MDM program.
In this case study, hear how The United Technologies Corporation, a globally distributed, Fortune 500 company manages their Oracle Hyperion EPM metadata using Orchestra Networks’ cost-effective, Oracle DRM alternative: EBX5. Also learn how UTC is creating much more value from their Oracle EPM applications by sharing dimensions (such as entities) with their entire finance application ecosystem. The goal, consistency across all financial applications and hierarchies for controls, tax, tax provision and more. The session will also cover practical issues: data exchange with HFM, governance, workflow and hierarchy management.
Sabre is a technology solutions provider to the global travel and tourism industry, encompassing four business units: Sabre Airlines Solutions, Sabre Travel Network, Sabre Hospitality Solutions and Travelocity. Sabre provides software to travel agencies, corporations, travelers, airlines, hotels, rental car, rail, cruise and tour operator companies. Divisions within each of these groups also service the business or corporate travel market. Sabre grew out of American Airlines and was spun off with an IPO in 2000 and currently employs approximately 10,000 people in 60 countries. In addition to managing the business processes and reporting across the four divisions, the IT group has been tasked to provide an agile architecture to accommodate M&A opportunities in the hospitality industry. Clearly, one of the biggest opportunities for leverage of corporate information assets is travel-related “public” and “private” reference data. Critical to the launch of such a program is to answer the key question “Why after all this time do we need RDM?” This session will provide insights and best practices concerning the establishment of an enterprise RDM program in a large global enterprise by discussing topics such as:
– Establishing the business value of an enterprise RDM program (“Hello, Houston … we have a problem”)
– Overcoming the cultural & territorial obstacles by selling change as a compelling argument for RDM (“Shift Happens”)
– Futureproofing the enterprise RDM program solution, outcome & direction (“What we didn’t think about”)

MDM Institute: Why is Reference data mission critical now?Orchestra Networks
Learn why market-leading enterprises are focusing on RDM in this exclusive webinar from MDM research analyst Aaron Zornes
More than 55% of large enterprises surveyed by the MDM Institute are planning on implementing reference data management (RDM) in the next 18 months.
Why is RDM mission critical today?
How does RDM differ from (how is it similar to) MDM?
What are the top business drivers for RDM?
What are the “top 10” technical evaluation criteria?
Where are most organizations focusing their RDM efforts?
Aaron Zornes, Chief Research Officer of the MDM Institute, answers these questions and more when he reveals findings from the first ever RDM market study based on a 1Q2014 survey of 75+ global 5000 size enterprises.
There’s growing recognition in the analyst community that reference data is a form of master data that requires its own governance. Locations, currency codes, financial accounts, and organizational hierarchies are so widely used in an organization that mismatches can result in: reconciliation issues, poor quality analytics or even transactional failures.
While it’s easy to see how poor reference data management (RDM) can cause problems, many companies struggle with determining how to get started. Multiple questions arise: What’s the scope? How should one choose between RDM solutions? How do I compute ROI? To answer these questions and more, Orchestra Networks teamed up with Aaron Zornes, Chief Research Office of the MDM Institute and Godfather of MDM, for: Everything you ever wanted to know about Reference Data (but were afraid to ask).
In this hour long webcast featuring Aaron Zornes (MDM Institute) and Conrad Chuang (Orchestra Networks) you will learn the:
Characteristics of reference data,
Key features of a reference data management (RDM) solution,
Lessons learned RDM implementations,
and more
UKOUG 2012 Metadata Management for Oracle Hyperion EPMOrchestra Networks
Orchestra Networks presentation at the UK Oracle User Group EPM & Hyperion conference on October 23, 2012. A streamlined approach to the management and governance of shared dimensions and hierarchies - the metadata for the Hyperion EPM Suite.
Orchestra Netwoks’ MDM for Oracle Hyperion EPM Applications is a single platform for managing all your dimensions and hierarchies. With built-in Oracle Hyperion models and unique hierarchy customization and management features - MDM for Hyperion provides you the tools you need to maintain dimensional consistency across organizational level, applications and time. With one-click integration to Hyperion Financial Management, Essbase and Planning, changes can be made once, in one place, rather than in multiple times in multiple HFM, Essbase or Planning instances.
Unlike manual alternatives such as spreadsheets, the fine grained permissions provides you the flexibility to maintain audit controls and permissions on all, some, or none of your Hyperion metadata. With the built-in-workflow, you can define business rules and processes that govern how the individuals in your organization work together to create your dimensions. Lastly, the version control engine enables you to retrieve (and rollback) to prior versions of your dimensions and prototype new or future editions.

"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*
