Development of the Wi-Fi Offloading Business Concept within the African Marke...Beneyam Haile
Offloading traffic to Wi-Fi networks is now becoming
an attractive way of alleviating congestion and extending
coverage without the need for significant additional investments for increased mobile network coverage and capacity. While Wi-Fi offloading technology standards are maturing and various vendor solutions being adopted by operators in developed economies, the offloading business models need to be reevaluated for Africa where the Wi-Fi adoption patterns and regulations are a rather different. In this study, we aim to analyze the Wi-Fi offloading business model for the African market context in a holistic manner by identifying plausible offloading scenarios, noting the critical success factors (or barriers) and evaluating the emerging value network configurations. Finally, we present an exemplary business model for an Offloading Service Provider based on an existing offloading vendor solution and using the STOF model as the theoretical framework.

High speed internet development in Africa using 4G-LTE technology-a reviewjournalBEEI
The African continent is ranked second most populated region and has a huge amount of natural resources to be locally transformed or outsourced overseas. The traditional telecommunications system has helped connect people and enabled them to manage their businesses and trading in Africa for a long-time; many African countries have embarked early in changing their network and technology systems during the first years of the information age. Over a few decades ago, the introduction of new telecommunication methods and techniques have influenced much of African countries’ growth via different perspectives. The situation has triggered an enormous interest in people. They analyzed the factors supporting such changes, which in the case of this paper is all about the advent and adoption of LTE/4G-LTE technologies including its service commercialization in Africa. This review article attempts to provide an overview of 4G-LTE networks technologies and the internet; it includes the current evolution of telecommunication networks within and even beyond the African continent, assisted by the 4G-LTE expansion. An extended view is provided throughout this article’s development with respect to what could be expected (or is missing) for the sake of this continent’s telecommunication infrastructure enhancement and a better QoS to Africa’s dwellers.
Understanding the critical role of last-mile connectivity and always available Internet access for their enterprises, savvy firms utilize redundant connections from multiple service providers. Despite the good intentions, their Internet connectivity risk may be equivalent to putting all their eggs in one basket.
Given the central role of telecommunications in the global economy and in the lives of humans worldwide, an understanding of innovation in telecommunications is critical to understanding the global dynamics of innovation generally. The technical, economic, and political dynamism of the sector means that there could be no better time for this work.

Vodafone summer internship- Branding & Pos Material developmentAbhimanyu Singh
This topic was undertaken during my summer internship at Vodafone in April, 2012. the job was to understand the importance of branding, particularly in store branding for vodafone in multi-brand outlets. to understand the the effect of point of sale materials on both customers and retailers. a detailed market survey was conducted in Bangalore covering 12 towns and some 250 retail outlets. the second part of my internship was to devise a new point of sale material for instore branding of retail outlets. I came up with dedicated merchandise holders for vodafone posters and information cards as traditional practice is to paste posters on walls which were later overlapped by competitors posters`. this was seen as a disadvantage for both retailers and the company in terms of visibility and information providing. A pilot project was conducted to find the acceptability of the new point of sale material. all the retailers who were a part of the pilot project agreed to keep the holder as they found them useful.
This document is a “distilled” version of the much larger report that Analysys Mason and IAMAI have prepared. The detailed report is available for purchase on IAMAI’s website – www.iamai.in and is an in-depth guide to each of the specific sub-segments within the mobile value added services ecosystem.
This summarised version of the report covers the following areas: The Indian mobile VAS opportunity, policy and market enablers, key trends in the mobile VAS industry in India, key growth areas in services and applications and mobile VAS industry growth forecasts
The key takeaways from this report summary are as follows:
• The Indian non-voice market is at an inflexion point, and the growth opportunity remains significant
• Similar to other mobile-first markets, mobile internet (handset plus dongles / CCDs) will drive growth in non-voice revenues while traditional services stabilize
• However, various market and policy enablers are required in on-deck VAS, off-deck VAS and SMS channels to realize this growth opportunity
• From a market perspective, a self-regulating body for settling issues between market participants can be an effective way to address on-deck challenges
• From a policy perspective, we believe that following a model of market determined revenue share with no special VAS license is the best route
• We recommend establishing an agency under the direction of TRAI to help address off-deck adoption issues and facilitate the allocation and management of a central short code registry system
• It is also recommended that a common standard for local language characters should be mandated on all handsets sold in India to facilitate growth in SMS
• Resolution of above issues also becomes imperative for maintaining market efficiency and balance of power in the evolving VAS value chain
• Among the emerging services, we believe that mobile commerce and utility services will have a significant social impact
• Finally, we believe that mobile internet adoption will result in a proliferation of data enabled services and applications around video, advertising, community, entertainment and enterprise mobility
This report provides strategic suggestions in relation to the 4th mobile service based on following three questions and answers.
What network technology the new mobile carrier (4th mobile carrier) must consider for strategic reasons?
- As of now, major mobile operators in the global market are migrating from 3G to 4G rapidly. The 3G market is divided into various network technologies which are CDMA EVDO, WCDMA and WiMAX. But, in terms of 4G, LTE is the dominant technology. For the success of the 4th mobile carrier, it is required to offer not 3G but 4G service with reasonable prices.
What could be the methods to deliver new and reasonably-priced 4G services?
-3GPP defined that LTE encompasses FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) and TDD (Time Division Duplex). Among them, TDD (LTE-TDD) in unpaired spectrum just like WiBro has a high chance to be in line with the mainstream trend in the global mobile market.
What economic ripple effects are expected when the 4th mobile carrier conducts LTE-TDD?
- The 4th mobile carrier is required to analyze possible economic ripple effects if it provides mobile service (including handsets) based on LTE-TDD in accordance with the definition of 3GPP.

Towards Future 4G Mobile Networks: A Real-World IMS Testbedjosephjonse
In the near future, current mobile communication networks will converge towards an All-IP network in order to provide richer applications, stronger customer satisfaction, andfurther return on investment for the industry. However, such a convergence induces a strong level of complexity when handling interoperability between different operators and different handset vendors. In this context, the 3GPP consortium is working on the standardization of the convergence, and IMS is emerging as the internationally agreed upon standard that is multi-operator and multi-vendor. In this paper, we shed further light on the subtleties of IMS, and we delineate a blueprint for the implementation of a real-world IMS testbed. An open source Presence Server is deployed as well. The operation of the IMS testbed and the Presence Server are checked to assess their conformance with 3GPP standards. A simple third party application is developed on top the IMS testbed to further assess its operation.

Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.
