Workshop 1 - Rebecca North
The ROSS program engages high school students to monitor water quality in reservoirs year-round, including winter months typically not sampled. Students collect weekly water samples and measure parameters like algae, nutrients, clarity and toxins. Preliminary results show nutrients and algae are higher in fall than summer, and low-level cyanotoxins are present all year. The program not only provides new limnological insights but educates students about local water resources.
