• SNS(Social Networking Service) is an online service,
platform, or site that focuses on building and reflecting of
social network or social relations among people, who, for
example, share interests and/or activities. Web based social
networking services make it possible to connect people who
share interests and activities across political, economic, and
geographic borders.

informally known as “tweets”
• Twitter was created in March
2006 by Jack Dorsey and
launched that July.
• In 2011, 200 million people use
Twitter
• nowadays, Lots of celebrities and
politicians using Twitter to
communicate with their fans.

• Cyworld is a Korean social network
service operated by SK
Communications.
• Cyworld launched in 1999 and it was
purchased by SK Comuunications in
2003.
• Members cultivate relationship by
forming Ilchon(일촌) or “friendship”
with each other through their
minihompy.
• The “Cy( 사 이 )” in cyworld mean
“cyber” but is also a pun on the
Korean word for relationship.
• Revenue is generated through the
sale of “Dotori”(adorns), which can
then be used to purchase virtual
goods such as virtual appliances and
background music.
• But, their commercialization and

resulted in decrease of users.
