Introduction
• A social networking site is an online service, platform, that
  focuses on facilitating the building of social networks or social
  relations among people who, for example, share interests,
  activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections.
• A social network service consists of a representation of each user
  (often a profile), his/her social links, and a variety of additional
  services. Most social network services are web-based and
  provide means for users to interact over the Internet, such as e-
  mail and instant messaging.
• Social networking sites allow users to share ideas, activities,
  events, and interests within their individual networks.
Features and Benefits
•   Features and Benefits of Social Networking Site, Social Networking has become a
        popular trend in modern days.
•    A social networking site can be a good way to make connections with people with
    similar interests and goals.
•   We all need a network to keep in touch with people and to get to know more
    people. Well, but where is the time for us to go personally and visit everyone. Its
    all possible now, just through these social networking sites.
•   Social media participation has become an essential tool for networking with
    professional contacts, making new contacts, recruiting employees as well as
    keeping-in-touch with the world. Today, online networking websites provide an
    easy platform that lets you stay connected with the right people or group to
    explore your choice of opportunities.
•   This platform also provides an option for students to exchange notes on scripts,
    poets, content editing and customization among others. These social networking
    sites are offering them education potential.
Advantages and Disadvantages
Advantages :
•   Finding Good People .
•   Free Business Promotion
•   Free or Low Cost Advertising.
•   Everything Is Public.
Disadvantages :
•   Time Consuming.
•   Negative Publicity.
•   Fake users.
•   Nothing for return.
Background Information
• Social networking began in 1978 with the Bulletin Board System
  (or BBS.) This was the 1st system exchanging information over
  phone lines and only one user could be logged in at a time.
• Later in the year, the very first copies of web browsers were
  distributed using the bulletin board Usenet(BBU.) It allowed users
  to post news articles or posts.
• Internet Relay Chat (IRC) 1988,first version of (messaging ,
  limiting access to most people , file sharing)UNIX based .
• Geocities was among the first social networking sites on the
  internet, launching its website in 1994.
• In 1995, TheGlobe.com was launched,(user interact with peoples
  and publish their own content).
• In 1995, SixDegrees.com(User create a profile and make friends).
• Friendster was the pioneer of social networking. In it’s first
  three months, the social networking website acquired 3
  million users. (MySpace)
• In the following years, other social networking websites like
  Classmates.com, LinkedIn, Orkut, Tribe.net.
• Facebook.com was launched in 2004 with the intent to
  connect U.S. college students(Harvard College), In it’s first
  month, over half of the 19,500 students signed up. In 2008,
  Facebook surpassed MySpace as the leading social
  networking website.
Five principles of social Networking website
                    analysis
User Requirements
•   To create a database to store the user’s details securely.

•   He/she will get user profile, user home page and chat window with video calling
    and online users.

•   He/she can update some images, videos and text and also send the message to
    others.

•   Option for changing his/her personal profile and account settings.

•   The user can add any other user to his/her friend list.

•   C# for coding and developing

•   SQL SERVER 2008 databases

•   Microsoft Visual Studio 2010

•   ASP.NET , HTML, Ajax, JavaScript for designing and developing.

•   Windows Operating System integration considering the desktop as well as IT
    professional

• Pentium-IV (Processor).
• 256 MB Ram
• 512 KB Cache Memory
• Hard disk 10 GB
• Microsoft Compatible 101 or more Key Board
