This document discusses different types of eczema, including atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis. Atopic dermatitis is a chronic, relapsing disease associated with immunologic irregularities and inflammation. It commonly presents as bright erythema, oozing vesicles, or scaly, light red to red-brown plaques. Contact dermatitis occurs after sensitization and exposure to an allergen, presenting as red papules and plaques 2-7 days later in the shape of the causative agent. Treatment focuses on lubricating dry skin, using topical immunomodulators or corticosteroids, eliminating the contact allergen, and avoiding irritating the affected area.
