Unfortunately, wrongful convictions of innocent people sometimes happen in the criminal justice
system. According to a new report from the University of Michigan Law School s National Registry of
Exonerations, 2015 set a record for the number of wrongly convicted Americans who received justice;
149 people who were either declared innocent or cleared of their convictions or guilty pleas. Many of
them had already served long prison terms for crimes they did not commit (Mencimer, 2016.)
There are many causes that can contribute to a wrongful conviction. Witness misidentification is the
most common cause; we know that the human mind is not like a tape recorder, and can make
mistakes. Forensic analysts presenting evidence that has little or no scientific basis, false confessions
by suspects during the interrogation process, government officials taking steps to ensure that a suspect
is convicted despite poor evidence, testimony by people with incentives to testify, and poorly prepared
lawyers are just some of the other causes that can result in a wrongful conviction. The death penalty
case of Cameron Todd Willingham, of Corsicana, Texas, is one that experts now agree that the
evidence proves he was wrongfully convicted. But unfortunately, he was already put to death by lethal

century. At this time, art had essentially evolved from the impressionist movement, whose ideas were
mainly the building blocks of the modernist movement. This paper looks at these specific works with
respect to how Picasso s and Matisse s pieces can be regarded as having been inspired by and moving
away from Cézanne s piece at the same time. The Large Bathers depicts some female nude figures
placed in a space between trees on either side. One striking similarity with Bonheur de Vivre is that it
also has nude female figures as part of the main subject matter. This seemed like a common theme at
the time as artists expressed their thoughts through paintings. In addition, Matisse used color to great
effect in his painting, just as color was used on Cézanne s. The canvas on The Large Bathers shows
the use of color and diagonal lines to give an impression of the element of space both in the

Introduction
Biblical interpretation is an area that leaves historians and students perplexed. There are many
questions as to when exactly a certain text was written, whom it was written by, origin of sources, etc.
To answer these questions, Christian historians have developed methods in order to make sense of the
messages in the bible. In particular, Corrine Carvalho s Primer on Biblical Methods works to critically
explain and interpret scripture so readers feel less skeptical about the legitimacy of the text. These
methods include the following: Source criticism, the reconstruction of written sources an ancient
author may have used to compose a text. Form criticism, the way a final author has put a text together.
Traditional criticism, the identification of traditions that an author employs in constructing new texts.
Historical criticism, the historical circumstances that have led an author to write a given text
(Carvalho, 2009, p. 3); they are encouraged for readers to use throughout the bible. If you look at
