The State Department s Center For Strategic...
The excerpt above is the caption from the notorious video, Welcome to the Islamic State Land,
released by the State Department s Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications on July 23,
2014. The State Department s video vividly depicts graphic images and short clips of the Islamic State
in action. It portrays the way the group treats people on the ground and urges Muslims not to join the
Islamic State. The video is one of the strategic releases by the State Department s Think Again Turn
Away media campaign to frame the Islamic State as inconsistent in its ideology, and as a dangerous
place for Muslims whom follow the terrorist group. This notable propaganda counter offensive effort
by the CSCC uses raw material gathered from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specifically, its mission is to identify, confront, and undermine the communications of al Qaeda
affiliates. To achieve its goals, the CSCC is divided into three entities: intelligence and analysis, plans
and operations, and a Digital Outreach team (DOT). Within its intelligence and analysis section, the
CSCC coordinates its efforts with various U.S. intelligence agencies. There are two guiding principles
the intelligence and analysis section follows. First, it must ensure all of its efforts are interagency
coordinated. Prior to the launching of the CSCC, there was very little interdepartmental coordination.
Within the U.S. government, there were multiple agencies with overlapping responsibilities within the
counterterrorism/counter violent extremist realm, yet their efforts were uncoordinated. Second, the
intelligence and analysis section attempts to make the best use of information provided by intelligence
agencies and academic analysis of the adversary of interest. The plans and operations team is
responsible for designing and implementing all non digital counter violent extremist communication
tools. These tools are used to counter terrorist groups ability to gain support and to recruit new
members. The materials produced by this section are available to be used by all U.S government
agencies. The third section of the CSCC is its Digital Outreach Team. This team is responsible for

Barbara Brown Taylor s An Altar In The World
Many people consider themselves spiritual, but they would not consider themselves religious. People
seek deep meaning in everyday life, but they are not church goers. Barbara Brown Taylor seeks to
speak into this divide in An Altar in the World by revealing meaningful practices to discover the
sacred in everyday life. Taylor outlines twelve practices addressing vision, reverence, incarnation,
groundedness, wilderness, community, vocation, Sabbath, physical labor, breakthrough, prayer,
benediction and how through these simple practices we can engage God in different and new ways.
Taylor seems to pair her twelve practices as she progresses. Therefore, she opens with the practice of
waking up to God celebrating vision. This is the practice of awakening to seeing the presence of God
in all that we do. This is accomplished by acknowledging the divine when it happens in the midst of
life and taking time to stop long enough to reflect on where you are, who you are with and how
awesome that place is in the moment. This practice pairs nicely with the practice of paying attention.
Playing attention is the practice of having reverence for everything in life. This is accomplished by
slowing down, being present in the moment and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter 11 dealing with prayer deals with the practice of being present to God. While this is a rather
nebulous chapter from Taylor the practice focuses on intentionally coming before God and being
transparent and available to God. The finally chapter, the practice of pronouncing blessings, deals with
benediction. Pronouncing blessing express a common wisdom that acknowledge the world for what it
is and embracing it with gratitude as we have been embraced with God. Benedictions are a blessing to
send people on their way. When we practice pronouncing blessing we affirm God in all things and
send other in God presence as we wish and practice to be in God

Anxiety Essay
Anxiety is one of the most common mental illnesses effecting nearly 15 million people. Symptoms of
anxiety can vary from minor to major effects depending on the victim. Teenager Georgiann Steely has
had anxiety since a child (Landro 1). There are many types of anxiety ranging from social to phobic
anxiety. Anxiety affects many people in today s society. To understand and treat it, one must look at its
causes, the effect on the victims, and how it is currently treated.
Throughout the years, the amount of people diagnosed with anxiety has increased. Because of this,
many are trying to figure out its causes. Many people do not fully understand anxiety as a whole,
thinking that it is a sporadic or one time occurrence. Anxiety is a disorder where ... Show more content

Throughout the past years medical research has advanced concerning mental illnesses. Treatments for
anxiety has been created based on research found on how to tackle anxiety. A common treatment is
medication. Two common medications for anxiety is serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and serotonin
norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Although other drugs are used, these are the most common (
Treatment ). This suggests that since medications are the most common, more severe symptoms may
need extra treatment. Anxiety has multiple treatments including psychotherapy. Psychotherapy has
multiple branches, one being cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on management of
symptoms and skills to help relaxation. Another would be cognitive restructuring, which enforces
positive thinking, along with coping plans for certain situations (Landro 2). This passage suggests that
psychotherapy takes a personalized approach for treating anxiety. Although the treatments main focus
is to better the patient, it leaves a lot for the victim s family and future. Treatments make take a while
to help, which leaves victims feeling worse ( Depression 2). This can lead one to conclude that
because episodes are likely to occur, families must be extra careful to watch and support the victim in
the future. Anxiety treatments range from medication to therapy. Victims may experience relapses in
the future and it s important to continuously check up on

1984 And The Classic Dystopian Novel By George Orwell
During Joseph Stalin s regime of the Soviet Union, 1984, the Classic Dystopian novel by George
Orwell, was burned and banned, because the book shone a negative light on communism. The book,
1984, follows the life of Winston Smith, who lives in a country called Oceania. Oceania is a
totalitarian society, ruled by a government known as The Party, whose leader is called Big Brother. In
Oceania, every movement and sound a person makes is surveillanced, and one wrong facial
expression, statement, or action can cause the Thought Police to take the person away to never be seen
again. A small percentage of the population questions The Party s dictatorship, and the novel follows
Winston s struggles to keep his hatred of The Party under control, along with his attempt to fight The
Party. Many, such as as Joseph Stalin, and you, the school board of Sowell High, wish to ban 1984.
However, the Classic Dystopian novel, 1984, should under no circumstances be banned in any school
library. The novel, 1984, has a plethora of reasons supporting why it should not be banned in the
libraries of schools. For example, 1984 teaches its readers the dangers of government control and
totalitarianism. In addition, banning books in general is unconstitutional and violates the First
Amendment. Lastly, 1984 reveals aspects of present day societies that go unnoticed.
To begin, the novel 1984 should not be banned because the novel educates readers about the dangers
of totalitarianism and government

The Success Of An Organization Or Business Process
Are you tired of smiling and nodding when someone talks about these concepts because you sort of
get what they are but not really?
You re not alone.
Those of us in the industry who live and breathe this stuff meet people every day who have no idea
what we do and why it s important to the success of an organization or business.
Q. OK, so what is a Business Process?
A. Pretty much everything you do at work.
It s true! Everything is a process, whether you know it or not. It can be formally documented or just
live in the experience and know how of your employees, but trust us there are processes all around
you.
Think of it this way.
A process can be defined as a series of actions or steps that are undertaken in order to achieve a ...

Grab keys, briefcase, and coat.
When we say business process, we are referring to processes that happen every day at work in order to
achieve a specific outcome. Do these sound familiar? What steps do you think apply to each?
Recruitment
Performance evaluations
Customer service
Strategic planning
Approvals
Each of these processes (and dozens of others) happens every single day in most businesses, and if
you re lucky, they are smooth and efficient and wonderful and everything goes well all of the time and
all your employees and customers are happy with them.
Q. So Business Process Improvement then, is just making things run more smoothly at work?
A. Yes! It s also about making those improvements with a specific end in mind:
Improving customer satisfaction,
Making employees happier,
Improving efficiency (getting more done, and with less resources)
Saving time, and/or
Improving the bottom line.
When we undertake business process improvement, we do so because something is wrong, and we
have noticed a trigger of some sort.
Q.What sort of trigger?
A. It could be so many things. Let s use an example to illustrate.
Let s talk about your car. If you don t own a car, just pretend you do (and since you re pretending, you
can make it the car of your dreams while you re at it. Go ahead and get fancy!)
Driving your car is a process:
Unlock doors.
Sit in driver s seat.
Put key in ignition.
Start car.
Check mirrors.
Place foot on brake.
Put car in gear.
Check mirrors again.

Euripides Iphigenia Among The Taurians
Regardless of the subject matter of a Greek Tragedy, the plot of the play brings up emotions like
sympathy and dread within the audience. Iphigenia Among the Taurians is a tragedy written by
Euripides in the early 400 s BC that follows the family of Orestes. While Iphigenia Among the
Taurians is considered within the genre of ancient tragedy, the play may not be the first example
someone might conjure up since the main conflict is resolved and the story ends with Iphigenia and
her brother Orestes successfully escaping the barbarians to go home to Greece. However, despite the
non traditional ending of a tragedy, Iphigenia Among the Taurians still manages to be classified as a
tragedy by Aristotle s standards. His definition focuses on the ... Show more content on

Aristotle also writes that tragedy must seek... cases where the suffering occurs within relationships,
such as brother and brother... when one kills (or is about to kill) the other, or commits some other such
deed. While the reversal and the recognition components cause the audience fear and anxiety,
suffering bring out the emotion of pity in the hearts of the viewers who are sympathizing with the
character. There are several incidences of suffering in the plot. The most prevalent one, again, is
Iphigenia about to kill Orestes. Even the chorus laments this tragic deed and they cry out I cry for you,
for your end marked out, the bloody rain of lustral water. Orestes replies that his death needs no pity.
Although there is no physical suffering, the audience still feels pity for Orestes because he believes he
is about to die, until the recognition occurred. The next major part of suffering occurs towards the end
of the book as Orestes, Iphigenia, and Pylades attempt to escape the barbaric lands by pretending to do
a cleansing ritual. A fight broke out between the barbarians and the Greeks as they both wanted
control over the ship. A messenger recounts the event for the king, Thoas by stating then taking a

Disadvantages Of Corruption
THE ECONOMIC AND FISCAL COSTS OF CORRUPTION IN A COUNTRY
Introduction
In this essay, I argue that high levels of corruption lead to low levels of investments in the country
which further lead to a crippled GDP overtime. Corruption also lead to reduced government fiscal
funding by investors (lenders) and may result in increased taxes which may result in country
instability overtime.
I begin by providing the context of a country s economy as it relates to government and firm s roles in
developing a country and its economy. I then provide examples of countries (Brazil and South Africa)
which have been plagued by corruption and I also discuss the major economic problems they have
experienced in recent years as a result of corruption. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Government budget deficit is a result of government spending more that it collects in taxes. One factor
is that, it is probable that Brazil government was unable to collect enough taxes because firms are not
as productive as they should be and that the high level of unemployment causes the government to
collect even less taxes from the employed population. The second factor is this, it is probable that
firms have lost confidence in the government s trust and transparency and they (firms) do not invest as
much as they should to be more productive and hire more people.
Furthermore, the Brazil political environment led to instability in the country and during that period, it
is almost impossible for Brazil s economy to be as productive as it should be because of mass protests,
mass stay away from work and firm investment protests.
The Brazil economy, has unfortunately taken a huge knock. Since 2015, Brazil s has been in recession

Seven Habits Category 3
In Category 2 of the Seven Habits Profile which tests Life Balance, I rated on the high end of good. I
will always put myself in the middle when it comes to balancing the people in my life and the feelings
of others because there is always work to be done. This is what makes me a self aware person, though,
because I am conscious of the fact that no matter what I do, there is always room for improvement
(Lanz, 2013). I use this skill in leadership by helping followers be mindful of their life balance. In
Category 3, I ranked in the middle of good . This category measures my aptitude for being proactive.
The area I struggled most with in this category was focusing on my own abilities rather than what
others are able to do. It has been demonstrated many times that hard work pays off. Little can be done
about the actions of others. It is important to control specifically what I can in order to achieve success
(Lanz, 2013). Yet, my need for control causes me to stress about things beyond my control. If I could
improve in this area, then I know my ability to be proactive would improve because I would not be as

I have been in my current position for almost six years, and it has grown more dissatisfying every

that do not have much to do with my specific job duties. I avoid having to deal with the fact that I am
in a job that is less than satisfactory. This relates to my current leadership habits because it reinforces
my tendency to allow negative team members to distract me from the task at hand. It is important to
communicate and work with those individuals, but that interaction must be prioritized within the

Reality Is A Perception That Organizes How People Relate...
Reality is a perception that organizes how people relate and organize the world. The Paracingulate
sulcus is a structure in the brain that is associated with our monitoring of what is reality and what is
not. With out this monitoring system people end up with disorders such as schizophrenia. The New
York Times interprets the results of a study published by the University of Cambridge and University
of Melbourne on the effects of the Paracingulate sulcus on how people monitor what is reality. The
Study, A Specific Brain Structural Basis for Individual Differences in Reality Monitoring, examines a
variety of research on the matter and presents the hypothesis that the people with out a Paracingulate
sulcus will have poorer monitoring of memory compared to people with a clear Paracingulate sulcus
on either one or both sides of the brain. Even though both articles explain the exact same research, it is
interesting to see the many differences of the two articles. The article was chosen for more then its
connection to cognition and what is being studied in class. The article interested both participants in
more ways than one. The idea of reality being a perception that changes from person to person is not
something people think about explicitly. It is merely by reading the article that one can take interest in
the fact that each person perceives the world a different way. Even more so, this perception can be
altered by having, or not having, a specific structure in the

Copper Mining Essay
The purpose of this investigation is to determine the following question; What have we learned about
the mining for copper that could minimise environment impacts of mining in the future? Copper is a
metal used for jewellery, copper wiring, electrical motors, engines, but mainly used in electrical
generators and powers. This is because copper has a high thermal and electrical conductivity. Hence,
copper is essential in today s society. The mining for copper in Queenstown, Tasmania was founded in
1883, but first started in 1896.
Copper mining led to the formation of acid rain because Acid mine drainage (AMG) was formed into
the river system by natural processes when the pyrite bedrock was exposed to oxygen and water. This

A scrubber is used to remove gases and destroys the harmful chemicals in the atmosphere, which
prevents the formation of acid rain. Additionally, FDG works by spraying a wet slurry of limestone
into a huge chambers where the calcium in the limestone responds with the sulfur dioxide in the flue
gas. When sulfur produces 〖SO〗_2, the fumes gas goes through the scrubber where a spray mixture
of limestone and water reacts with the 〖SO〗_2. It produces calcium sulfate (when 〖SO〗_2
consolidates with limestone), known as synthetic gypsum. Scrubbers reduce the health risks of the
local residents and workers. It is extremely important to remove sulfur dioxide because it combines
with water in the air to form sulfuric acid (acidic compound) when released into the atmosphere. Thus,
scrubbers are utilized to remove acidic gases as it filters out the sulfur dioxide leaving water released

Zappos Customer Service
1. Zappos logistics contribute to its core competency and competitive advantage
Sharing Information with Suppliers Zappos has a very special relationship with all of its suppliers.
Through every interaction they work to WOW them by not only being great business partners but
Zappos shares all of their inventory information with them. They developed an Extranet which allows
venders to see on hand inventory, sales and pricing and margins. This insight provides Zappos with a
clear competitive advantage when it comes to managing their inventory. Instead of only having
internal buyers worry about when and what to purchase the venders themselves can make

This move would have severe tradeoffs when it comes to customers and UPS. Currently Zappos is
UPS number 3 next day air shipping customer. By not utilizing this service it could have a significant
impact on UPS and Zappos relationship with UPS. Even though Zappos would still use UPS for the
ground shipping, UPS would see a significant revenue drop since next day air shipping is more
expensive.
Since only 60% of customers would receive their order within 2 days the other 40% would not get that
WOW factor of fast delivery. Zappos is known for its fast delivery and service and without that
customer satisfaction may drop. Having 40% of customers not being having a WOW experience could
significantly hurt the customer base.
3. Expanding the business
I would expand Zappos by extending the supply web to current retailers such as Target or Macy s.
Take Target for example. On Target.com they have an extensive shoe selection which the inventory
needs to be stored in a Target distribution center. Zappos could hold this inventory and make the
shipments when someone orders shoes on Target.com. This would benefit both Target and Zappos.
Target would be able to reduce their shoe inventory in their distribution centers. They would also be
able to offer wider selection of shoes on Target.com. Zappos would benefit by gaining a large portion
of new customers who are regular Target guests. A second way I would expand Zappos would be to

Reflection Of A Funeral Of My Friend s Aunt

thing that plays an important role in a funeral event. From a cultural perspective when a person dies

Cellular Respiration And Photosynthesis Similarities
Aerobic cellular respiration and photosynthesis have a myriad of similarities and differences. They are
both alike and different because of the purpose of the processes, how they function, their location, and
the reactants and products for each process.
Cellular respiration and photosynthesis have several differences. In photosynthesis, plants and some
bacteria use light energy, carbon dioxide, and water to produce glucose and oxygen. On the other
hand, cellular respiration is the process in which glucose is broken down and converted into energy,
specifically ATP. Eukaryotes like plants and animals carry out cellular respiration, however, only
plants and some bacteria carry out photosynthesis. Aerobic cellular respiration takes place in the ...

Cellular respiration uses the products of photosynthesis: glucose and oxygen, as reactants to make
ATP. In this process, carbon dioxide and water are produced as waste products. ADP and Pi are also
reactants, but they are made during the stages, like when a phosphate group leaves the ATP we use to
power glycolysis or when carbon bonds are broken. ADP and Pi do not come from photosynthesis.
Plants that carry out photosynthesis also carry out cellular respiration. Heterotrophs that can t produce
their own sugar also can carry out cellular respiration. They obtain glucose by eating autotrophs,
eating what autotrophs made, or other organisms that consumed autotrophs. From there, it breaks
down the glucose. Photosynthesis and cellular respiration is a cycle because it reuses and rebuilds the

The protagonist was so motivated to teach the children such that she accompanied the students even
when school was out of session. Sylvia is the antagonist in this story, owing to the way in which the
youngster differentiated her values from Ms. Moore s. Sylvia used her interaction skills to sway the
group s attention away from the teacher, particularly at the endof the story when she slipped out of the
group in search of chocolate (Bambara 6). To add salt to injury, Sylvia wasted no time in returning the
lion s share of Ms. Moore s money, seeing the opportunity to buy chocolates and other confectionary.
The exposition of the story lies in the rising wave of inequality, especially among African American
communities. The rising action in the story is when the children get busy ogling at the expensive toys
on display, which builds the tension associated with poverty. Alternatively, the story s climax is when
thestudents realize the moral of the lesson, which is economic inequality within urbanareas. The
falling action occurs when Sylvia and Sugar tear away from the group in search of the ill gained
confectionary. The denouement of the story is when the children realize the value of money and its
impact on society. Such a scene is present when the children began thinking of different ways the
exorbitant prices could change their lives, such as

Through Office Of Grants Giveaway (HBWC)
The primary purpose of the organization is to uphold improvements in the quality and value of
healthcare grants through government aided research, assessment, and sharing of data. Through Office
of Grants Giveaway (OGG) the company allocates medical donations to hospitals. The Health Body
Wellness Center s (HBWC) through OGG takes an initiative of tracking the grants distributed to small
hospitals, to achieve this, the company has contracted We Automate Anything (WAA) and given them
the responsibility of implementing the small hospital grant tracking system. This system enables them
to allocate and track the gifts within a specified period. OGG assigns awards to one hospital and
follows how they have been utilized within a period of one month. The unused portion of the subsidy
is recalled and issued to another hospital. This is done in a continuous and rotational manner.
The organization has a security objective of protecting the database from being altered. Since the data

the functions that each user performs. In this case, there are three categories of users each with clearly

Islamophobia
Many people remember September 11, 2001 as a day when 19 Muslim extremists hijacked four
commercial airplanes and flew them into sundry buildings and areas across the United States. This
includes the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., a field in Pennsylvania, and the place where the most
damage occurred, the North and South Twin Towers in New York City. Over 3,000 people were killed
in these attacks, mostly workers in the towers and the Pentagon who were of all races and religions
including Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus. Calamities like this should bring people together so that they
may comfort one another after a great loss. Instead, it drove people apart out of fear of their safety in
their own homes. People should remember this day as a tragic event that took the lives of many
innocent people, instead many Americans remember this day as the day the Muslims attacked
America. This is why Muslim Americans have become pariahs post 9/11 because, of the amount of
conflation that has occurred with Muslim Americans and Sikh Americans, the amount of anti Islam
behavior practiced in America involving various ideologies of Islam, and the amount of disrespect
shown towards Muslim Americans in America on a daily basis. Conflation plays a big role in Muslim
Americans becoming pariahs post 9/11. Conflation of certain religions and races, is usually the
product of ignorance in the religions and races that are conflated together. Most people only know that
on 9/11 there were 19 Muslims that

Baroque Violin Research Paper
Since the Baroque period the violin (Baroque violin) has been a standout amongst the most important
of all instruments in music, for a few reasons. The tone of the violin emerges above different
instruments, making it necessary for playing a tune line. In the hands of a decent player, the violin is
greatly lithe, and can execute fast and difficult successions of notes. In reality, the violin appears to fit
virtuosity more than any other musical instrument ever created.
In spite of the fact that it is widely held belief that the Italian luthier Andrea Amati made the cutting
edge violin family around the year 1555, bowed stringed instruments were created much earlier than
that. Hence, it is therefore better to think of the violin as an instrument ... Show more content on

1644 1737), initially an understudy to Nicolò Amati and another inhabitant of Cremona. Stradivari has
turned into the most commended violin creator ever. Like Amati before him, Stradivari was devoted to
utilizing the finest materials accessible. While Stainers and Amatis were more suited for orchestral
music in little halls, Stradivaris and Guarneris were more preffered extensive halls with ensemble
symphonies, and by 1800 these violinists were the most prominent in Europe. It is no incident that the
rise in popularity of the Stradivaris and Guarneris corresponded with the rise of large scale orchestral
works, exemplified by Mozart s last orchestras and Beethoven s Eroica orchestra (1805) and his Violin
Concerto (1806). Stradivarious improvements, however, incorporated the refinement of the blueprint
of the instrument, the diminishment of the general swell of the top plate, an alteration of the state of
the f openings, and the formation of the present day state of the extension. The varnish of his violins
has a trademark ruddy tinge. He made instruments bound for King James II of England; Cardinal
Vincent Orsini, later Pope Benedict XIII; King Amadeus II of Sardinia; among others. Stradivari was a

Shahadah, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj, I will define the five pillars now.
1. Shahadah: Beleiving that there is no God but Allah, and Muhammad [peace be upon him] is his last

the most noble person that has ever been on this planet. His father died before he was born, and his

his grandfather Abdul Mutallib. When Abduk Mutallib passed away, the holy prophet s uncle Abu

Abu Talib was very dear to Prophet Muhammad [peace be upon him], but he did not accept Islam. He
started taking care of the prophet since Muhammad [peace be upon him] was about eight years old.
The prophet tried to convince his uncle to accept Islam and recite Shahadah till his uncles last breath,
but he didn t. He was a true Qurayshi. He refused because he claimed that the Quraysh would mock
him and accuse him of saying the shahada because he fears death.

the New England region was the center of the discussion in the Boston FBI field office building.
Officer Alecia Harrison was sitting silently in the room while the roars of the others burdened her ears.
It was a late night and the agents were talking all at once about their opinions on the situation. She
sighed, looked around the room and shouted over the silence for everyone to be quiet. The individuals
in the room grew silent as they looked at the young woman who had just interrupted their banter.

Slowly turning to look behind her, she looked out in the distance of the woods by her house. When she

The young woman opened up her door and immediately felt that sense of uneasiness again even
though her home was full of light. She could hear the water running in the bathroom and figured that
her boyfriend, James, was just taking his usual night shower. She went into the kitchen to get a quick
drink of water. As she drank the cool liquid she felt an immense feeling of relief. She advanced toward
the bathroom. She walked down the hallway heading towards the closed bathroom door. Alecia felt a
sense of panic and anxiety when she felt her foot become slightly submerged in a liquid on the floor.
She flung the bathroom door open and felt her throat tighten at the scene. Her loving boyfriend was
laying in the bathtub clearly dead with the water overflowing over the sides of the tub. His eyes were
glazed over, looking almost made out of glass, and his skin had started to become discolored. Letting
out a guttural scream, she ran to the side of the tub and tried to lift him out. However, she knew it was
too late and he was too heavy for her to lift. She sunk to the wet floor with tears falling from her eyes

Literary Devices in Updike s “The Great Scarf of Birds” Essay
In his poem The Great Scarf of Birds , John Updike uses a flock of birds to show that man can be
uplifted by observing nature. Updike s conclusion is lead up to with the beauty of autumn and what a
binding spell it has on the two men playing golf. In Updike s conclusion and throughout the poem, he
uses metaphors, similes, and diction to show how nature mesmerizes humans. In John Updike s poem
The Great Scarf of Birds , he uses diction and figurative speech to depict the beautiful autumn season
to show how inspiring and uplifting nature is to man. Updike chooses autumn as the season to set his

Man will be uplifted just like the geese flying south for the winter by observing the exquisiteness of
nature around him. Updike continues his portrayal of the vast splendor of nature through metaphors,
similes, and diction pertaining to a large flock of starlings that flew and over and lit on the gold course
where the two men in the poem are playing. The approaching flock of birds seem like a cloud of dots
(Line 16) on the horizon to observers. The author compares The image of the steadily approaching
flock of starlings to iron filings (the birds) stuck to a magnet through a piece of paper (the horizon).
The men stand in awe of the black, writhing, approaching mass, much like children do when the
magnet picks up the filings through the paper. By comparing the approaching birds to the magnet and
iron filing scenario in a simile, Updike subtly likens the men reaction to a small child s reaction when
he/she sees the magic of the magnet and the iron filings for the first time. The simile purpose is to
show how nature can make grown men feel like small, free little kids when experiencing nature at its
best. As the observers continue to watch the looming flock of birds, the flock became one huge
pulsating mass of birds that seemed as much as one thing as a rock. (Line 22) Updike once again
eloquently portrays nature as absolutely stunning to show how nature affects man. The birds
descended in a huge evenly tinted (Line

Communication skills are a priority. Someone with tech skills are a dime a dozen. What employers are

Introduction
Even though marketing has the ability to influence people of all ages, children seem to be the most
vulnerable ones. The 2003 Hastings report concluded, on the evidence up to that date, that children in
the UK are exposed to extensive food advertising, and that the diet advertised is considerably less
healthy than the diet healthcare experts would recommend (Halford and Boyland, 2013, p, 182). The
case is not much different in other countries also. Reports from North America (Gantz, et al. 2007;
Institute of Medicine, 2005) clearly indicated the increased vulnerability of children towards
advertising and marketing activities of foods and non alcoholic beverage manufacturers. The majority
of the children do not have the maturity to segregate between the good and evil. They are unaware of
the traps made by the product manufacturers and service providers. Influenced by the attractive
advertisements and the sales promotion activities by the foods and non alcoholic beverage
manufacturers, children often compel their parents to purchase these things for them. Parents, on the
other hand, are ready to satisfy the needs of their children since many of the parents think that
fulfilling the demands of their children might help them to strengthen their relationships with their
children. It should be noted that the parent child relationship in the

Love Story Essay
I decided long ago that my parent s love story is worth writing about. My mom grew up in the same
red bricked house most of her life in Richland, Washington. She grew up with eight siblings (she
being number six) three sisters and five brothers. Grandpa Nelson was an engineer, along with the rest
of the people who lived on that street most of them being members of the church. Grandma Nelson
was a stay at home mom and raised my amazing aunts and uncles. My dad was raised in a military
family and went to twelve different public schools. Grandpa Robinson was in the Navy and for a short
while, in the Air Force. Grandma Robinson has 11 children (the youngest, Rebekah was a still born)
and my dad was the second child. He has three brothers and eight sisters. My dad claims Richland,
Washington as his home even though he lived all over the country. My parents technically met when
they were in the same ward as kids. My grandma Nelson was my dad s Den Leader in scouts.
However, my parent s friendship became real when they were teenagers and my dad was finally
settled back in Richland. A story that was told by my grandpa all the time before he died was one day
while my dad and his family were sitting in the pews of the chapel, my mom walked in and my dad

Christianity, Christianity And The Teachings Of Christianity
Christianity has specific teachings within its religion that all christians practice. Christians believe in
the Trinity which is the Father, Son, and the Holy spirit. God is the father, son is Jesus, and the holy
spirit is a spirit. Another teaching of Christianity is that christian life is marked by baptism. Baptism is
when christians are submerged in water or water is sprinkled over their head and it symbolizes
purification. They practice this teaching because they believe that it is a way of recognizing that Jesus
died for their sins, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead. Christians also teach that the Bible is
the word of God and they believe in the Bible and what the Bible says. Islam teaches The Five Pillars
of Islam. The Five Pillars of Islam are Faith, Prayer, Charity, Fasting, and Pilgrimage. Faith is the
belief of one god, Prayer is praying five times a day, Charity is giving or donating to those in need,
Fasting is only eating after sunset to sunrise for a whole month, and Pilgrimage is the journey to
Mecca. The Five Pillars of Islam are practiced by every Muslim. Another teaching within Islam is that
they all believe in one god who is named Allah. The last teaching is that Muhammad who was the last
prophet of their god Allah is the messiah, which means Muhammad is their messenger of god.

Informative Essay On Healing Time
We really surprised you with the first set of surprising facts that you didn t know about piercing in our
part one article, and we have finally returned with part two! Piercings are a body mod trend that is
sweeping the nation, and is only becoming more popular. We have finally brought to you the top eight
most surprising facts that everyone should know about piercing! Number Eight: Healing Time
Because of the differences in skin thickness and blood flow in various parts of the body, the healing
time for each type of body location is likely to fluctuate. Because ear lobes, tongues, and lips have an
increased blood flow in comparison to the rest of the body, they will heal the fastest and be least likely
to become infected. Number Seven: The Healing Balance While it is important to keep a pierced area
clean, it is also important not to over clean it. Over cleaning can result in intense drying out of the
wound (which requires moisture to heal), improper healing or prolonged healing, and increased risk of
infection. The professionals recommend a light cleaning about twice a day, and to avoid harsh
chemicals such as iodine. Number Six: Go Ointment Free It is often assumed that applying antibiotic
ointment to a piercing would aid its healing process, as it would to a cut. However, these healing
ointments can actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

areas. Tattoo artists need a license to open up shop, but literally anyone could start up a piercing

before making a potentially disastrous decision. One of the best ways to assure your medical safety is
to ask for a walk through of the location s sterilization procedures and equipment storage; if they

An Analysis Of Euripides Medea
The Character of Medea in Euripides
Euripides presents one of the most shocking female characters in literature, through Medea, a devotee
of the goddess Hecate, and one of the great sorceresses of the ancient world. She was the daughter of
King Aeetes of Colchis, and the granddaughter of Helios, the sun god. King Aeetes most valuable
possession was a golden ram s fleece. When Jason, the man Medea falls in love with, arrives at
Colchis seeking the Golden Fleece, Aeetes sets Jason a series of seemingly impossible tasks as the
price for obtaining it. Medea falls in love with Jason and agrees to use her magic to help him, in return
for Jason s promise to marry her. Jason fled once he obtained the Golden Fleece, taking Medea and
her younger brother, Absyrtis, with him, as King Aeetes pursued them. In order to delay the pursuit,
Medea killed her brother and cut his body into pieces, scattering the parts behind the ship. This caused
the pursuers to stop and collect Absyrtis dismembered body in order to give it proper burial, which
thus gave Jason, Medea and the Argonauts the time to escape. On Jason s safe return to his home in
Iolcus, Medea continued to use her sorcery. She restored the youth of Jason s aged father, Aeson, by
cutting his throat and filling his body with a magical potion. She tricked Pelias daughters into killing
him, but left the corpse without any youth restoring potion. After the murder of Pelias, Jason and

Japan s Attack on Pearl Harbor
The United States and Japan were in the process of peace talks when Japan launched their attack on
Pearl Harbor. The Japanese gave the American people medals. The Americans then put the medals on
bombs that were dropped on Japan in the months following the attack on Pearl Harbor. No one knew
about the attack except the Japanese. Even though the U.S sensed the Japanese on radar, it was a
surprise attack. The bombings began by the time they were able to figure out what was happening.
Before the Pearl Harbor Attack, there was already some tension between the Japanese and the
Americans as America had stopped trading oil, which was crucial to the Japanese, and was applying
pressure on Japan for invading other South East Asian countries, which the Americans did not want to
happen. An article on Encyclopedia Britannica explains the Pearl Harbor attack. The attack on Pearl
Harbor occurred on December 7, 1941. It was a surprise airborne attack on the U.S. naval base at
Pearl Harbor on Oahu Island, Hawaii, by the Japanese that led to the entry of the United States into
World War II. Japan s invasion of China in 1937 and its occupation of French Indochina in July 1941
caused the United States to respond that same month by stopping Japanese assets in the United States
and declaring a restriction on petroleum shipments and other war materials to Japan. By late 1941 the
United States had severed practically all commercial and financial relations with Japan. Though Japan

Notably, there are two domains where these double loanwords appear in Japanese speech; fashion and

to a fight. By doing this Ender was able to fight Bonzo one on one. All Ender could see, though, was
the way Bonzo looked as Ender kicked upward into his groin. The empty, dead look in his eyes. He
was already finished then. Already unconscious. His eyes were open, but he wasn t thinking or moving
anymore, just that dead, stupid look on his face, that terrible look (212). By fighting smartly Ender
won the fight with no injuries and ended up stopping the hatred against him. Later Ender heard Bonzo
is to be iced, but in fact Bonzo was killed by Ender during the

Gender Inequality During Latin American Countries
How has gender inequality affected women in Latin American countries? Gender inequality has
affected the women of Latin America in a multitude of ways, but it can be argued that the division of
gender equality is extremely prominent when analyzing reproductive rights and health care access.
Compared to countries such as Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, Latin America is
far behind in terms of civil rights and reproductive rights. The lack of rights is not in question; women
s barrier to reproductive health can be seen through anecdotes and statistics. The question thus
becomes, is there a definite answer to why these rights are absent? Factors concerning the absence of
reproductive rights include cultural norms and religion, but the one that plays the biggest role remains
the lack of female political leaders in Latin American countries. What exactly is it that is keeping
Latin America behind other countries in terms of being progressive regarding reproductive rights?
Women s political absence in Latin America has shaped reproductive rights and health care services
immensely. While Latin America s lack of reproductive rights would seem to be common knowledge,
many are unaware of how exactly women in Latin American countries are affected. In a fairly large
number of countries, abortion is illegal. In regards to this, in 2008, 12 percent of maternal deaths in
Latin America and the Caribbean were due to unsafe abortions. (Mane, 2013) 95% of the abortions

Rule of Law

Rule of Law
London International Programs, UG Law, Public Law Essay 2.
The Rule of Law, enforced by the courts, is the ultimate controlling factor on which our constitution is
based. Discuss.
The rule of law is one of the fundamental principles of UK s unwritten or uncodified constitution .The
key idea of the rule of law is that the law should apply equally to all, rulers and ruled alike. This in the
words of the 19 century constitution expert, A.V.Diecy ensures a government of law and not a
government of men . The alternative to the rule of law is there for arbitrary government. In this way,
the rule of law establishes the relationship between government and the people. AS John ... Show

The Law Is Always Applied
Disputes must be resolved by the application of the law rather than by other means. This means that
there must be a certainty of punishment for breaches of law law cannot apply in certain circumstances,
but not in others. By the same token, there should be punishment only for breaches of law people
should not be penalized except through the due process of law.
However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK; *
Not all crimes are reported and therefore legally addressed ( this applies, for instance, in the case of
most rapes) * As polices resources are limited many crimes are not detected ( for example , speeding
offences) * Trial by the media means that people may be punished without legal proceeding having
taken, or, perhaps, despite being acquitted.
4. Legal Redress Is Available Through The Courts
If people s rights have been infringed (whether by other citizens, organizations or the state,) they
should be able to protect themselves through the law. For many legal experts and a growing body of
senior judges this implies that the law should defend fundamental human rights .This is the aspect of
the rule of law that safeguards the individuals from the state.
However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK: *
There is no entrenched bill of right to protect fundamental human rights * The Human Rights

Essay on Kit Carson
|
Dean Kuhlman | Research Paper HI 315VC | | | | | | |
Kit Carson is best known for his role in the expansion of the West as a trapper, explorer, scout and
American soldier. Carson not only spent time carving the path to the west, he defended it in battle as
an officer in the U.S. Army. One of the most famous mountain men of the Westward movement,
Carson has had several landmarks, cities, and areas named after him. Among these are Carson,
Colorado, Carson City, Nevada, Carson Pass and the Carson River. (Sanford Green) Kit Carson has
been a part of American folklore for decades but his fame grew from very humble beginnings.
Born on December 24th, 1809 in Kentucky, Kit Carson was born with a love for the ... Show more

(Sanford Green) Carson had gained valuable experience with exploring the West and had gained some
notoriety as a skilled and brave mountain man through his travels. One of the more famous stories was
of a duel that took place between Carson and another man because Carson s first wife, Singing Grass,
had chosen Carson over another suitor. Joseph Chouinard who was known as the Bully of the
Mountains. , and he was to duel Kit Carson. (Sides) The duel took place at a mountain man
rendezvous that was held annually at a different location. (Sides) The irony of the duel that gained
Carson so much respect was that Carson luckily escaped a bullet that would have killed him and
merely shot Chouinard s thumb off. There are various legends about what actually happened to
Chouinard, but the story gained Carson much fame and respect among mountain men. (Sides) The
incident at the mountain man rendezvous and several other tales quickly gained Carson popularity. He
was approached by John C. Fremont in 1942; the man who Fremont, Ohio is named after, to be a
guide for the Army to survey a path to Oregon along the Oregon Trail. (Sides) Fremont was linked to
politics through his wife and was given the assignment of exploring the West. (Sides) This expedition
would be critical in providing a more accurate map for settlers moving west. They would successful
complete the journey with twenty five men in five months. (Sides) Fremont was able to document the

Jaws and Jurassic Park Films
Steven Spielberg s Jaws (1975) and his other film Jurassic Park (1993) both contain a major theme of
what makes a successful hero in society. In Jaws, police chief Martin Brody must successfully
eliminate the threat of a Great White Shark from attacking Amity Island. In Jurassic Park, billionaire
John Hammond creates a theme park where cloned dinosaurs come alive, hoping that his ideal resort
becomes a major success. Through the use of film style elements, such as editing and mise en scene,
Spielberg develops Brody s character as a person who must learn from his past mistakes in order to
become a successful hero while Spielberg creates Hammond s character as a man who only sees
himself as a hero of science and technology without realizing ... Show more content on

This contrast in lighting direction is another indicator of the inherent problem with Jurassic Park. The
major use of backlighting on Grant represents the dark side of Jurassic Park as Hammond s plan to
resurrect dangerous animals such as the Velociraptor for entertainment purposes while suppressing
nature is what leads to the park s and Hammond s demise because Hammond can not possibly re
create vicious predators from the past and suppress them in artificial environments for profit.
Hammond did not envision Jurassic Park as a dangerous place or a violation of nature but as a triumph
of scientific research and sees himself as a heroic figure of science. The lighting set up used on Dr. Wu
represents the opposing side to Grant s views on Jurassic Park, which would be Hammond s view. If
Hammond can get the best minds of the cloning field like Dr. Wu to help him realize his dream resort
then he is surely an inspiring figure to the scientific community. Whereas Brody could see the
problems that were literally sitting in front of him and learn from them to become a hero, Hammond
does not even question what he sees and his decision to ignore what others have to say about his
accomplishments only initiate his eventual failure as a role model of science.
In the final third act of Jaws, shark hunter Quint and marine

Science Engineering, And Biomedical Applications
Nanotechnology has been fast expanding in the past decade. This field comprises of technologies that
largely involve materials of sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm. These minute materials may display
distinct characteristics as compared to the same material of a larger form. Due to the smaller size,
altered shape, arrangement, or increased surface area, these nanomaterials may exhibit unique
properties like enhanced strength, flexibility, reactivity, or improved electrical conductivity and
absorption.1 As advanced nano materials are produced and commercialized for extensive use in
research areas like electronics, materials science engineering, and biomedical applications, there is
also an increasing need to develop an effective environmental health and safety (EHS) risk
management system for nanoscale particles. Therefore, an accurate determination of EHS risks of
nanomaterials could be achieved by understanding nanoparticle interaction with other systems as well
as integrating nanomaterials hazard and exposure datasets.
Since nanoscale particles are orders of magnitude smaller than many larger organic molecules which
are transported through cellular membranes and barriers, these particles are not subjected to the same
degree of regulation and thus have far more potential to enter cells and tissues to cause damage.
Nanoparticles can indeed exhibit greater toxicity than a larger sized particle of the same toxicant.2
There are several known mechanisms for nanoparticle toxicity,

Jaws Analysis
When a young woman is killed by a 25 foot killer great white shark while skinny dipping near the
New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody (Roy Scheider) commits
himself to serve and protect his town by closing the beaches. Unfortunately, the mayor of the island
has a different idea. Mayor Larry Vaughn (Murray Hamilton) overrules him, fearing that the loss of
tourist revenue will cripple the town. Ichthyologist Matt Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) and grizzled ship
captain Quint (Robert Shaw) offer to help Brody capture the killer 25 foot beast, and the trio engage in
an epic battle of man vs. nature. Steven Spielberg s, Jaws is an instant classic horror film that ll bring

This is no mystery or surprise. The creature, which has long been the topic of numerous studies and
experiments, is still a source of great mystery. Why in the world does a shark need to grow the size of
a school bus? Who is it trying to impress with that massiveness? And those teeth? They taught us in
elementary school that a shark might use over 20,000 teeth in its lifetime. If one falls out, another
replaces it. Say what you may about the special effects in Jaws, those teeth look real and they will eat
your face off. So, therefore the movie was so successful. Because of the productions ability to create a
mechanical shark that is similar in anatomy and identical to the real predator, the film could create this
higher sense of man vs nature, good vs evil. This horror film will leave you wondering with the
question of what if this happens to me. Spielberg took something that was so real and had happened
before (shark attacks), and produced a movie that not only warned us and opened our eyes to its
reality, but was also able to deliver us with one of the most classic horror films in the history of

The Role Of Mercy Killing In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
When a person, puts another person out of their misery to save them is called mercy killing. George
Milton and Lennie Small are migrant workers that travel together throughout Of Mice and Men by
John Steinbeck. At the end George has to take Lennie s life. George did it to put Lennie at peace.
Mercy killing is a way of ending people s lives in a peaceful way and George is a great example of
that. George has the right to take Lennie s life. Mercy killing helps people out of their misery and from
becoming hurt. In the book, Of Mice and Men, when Lennie breaks a lady s neck and kills her and her
husband exclaims, I m gonna shoot the guts outta that big bastard! (Steinbeck 98). All the men at the
ranch are angry at Lennie and craving for revenge. George knows what has happened and he fears for
the worst when he asks the lady s husband if he can take it easy on Lennie. Similar to Lennie s death,

That is true, however, seeing people struggle and suffer is grievous to do, as for the man in the article
about killing his wife and sister. When asked about his client, Lance Anderson s defense attorney,
described his client as a man who was simply overcome with the circumstances of caring for his ailing
wife and sister (Serna). People do not like seeing other people suffer and that is what the article
responded with and feels. If people liked to observe people suffer, wouldn t there be more murders?
Killing people to save them is the main form of mercy killing and is used for an acceptable reason. In
conclusion, people who like to watch people suffer are animals and cruel, compared to people who
grieve when witnessing people agonize over their own pain. Mercy killing is to help hurting souls by
putting them out of their misery. It can be shown as an act of cruelty against people who never fully
affirm they want to be killed. But, watching someone endure pain for a long time it is acceptable to
have them pass

Critical Analysis Of Supernatural
ANALYSIS OF SUPERNATURAL
Supernatural. Anyone s first impression upon hearing the name of this tv show would be that it is one
for teenagers, full of nonsensical, fictitious storylines. At least my parents have always thought of the
show that way, but that is because they have never taken the time to see even one episode of this
utterly creative and emotional horror tv series that brings it viewers back season after season. Now, the
series is on its 13th season and it is going strong as ever. Why? Because of its themes, because of all
the underlying messages it sends to its devoted fans amidst the entertainment of all the surprising plot
twists and the show s stance on various issues existing in today s world.
So what is Supernatural about? The plot revolves around the adventures of two brothers, Sam and
Dean Winchester as they hunt the big, bad monsters that hurt innocent humans. They travel all around
the country searching for cases out of the ordinary and take care of the demons, or ghouls, or
vampires, whatever terrorizing and rampaging small towns or big cities with their heinous activities.
Characters have come and gone but the brothers have always stayed together, except for a c few times
when they went their separate ways due to certain disagreements, huge ones, which I will get to later.
However, they always seek each other out, accept their fault and apologize. After all, family is family.
There are misunderstandings, fights and Bobby Winchester says it the best:

The excerpt above is the caption from the notorious video, Welcome to the Islamic State Land, released by the State Department s Center for Strategic Counterterrorism Communications on July 23, 2014. The State Department s video vividly depicts graphic images and short clips of the Islamic State in action. It portrays the way the group treats people on the ground and urges Muslims not to join the Islamic State. The video is one of the strategic releases by the State Department s Think Again Turn Away media campaign to frame the Islamic State as inconsistent in its ideology, and as a dangerous place for Muslims whom follow the terrorist group. Specifically, its mission is to identify, confront, and undermine the communications of al Qaeda affiliates. To achieve its goals, the CSCC is divided into three entities: intelligence and analysis, plans and operations, and a Digital Outreach team (DOT). Within its intelligence and analysis section, the CSCC coordinates its efforts with various U.S. intelligence agencies. There are two guiding principles the intelligence and analysis section follows. First, it must ensure all of its efforts are interagency coordinated. Prior to the launching of the CSCC, there was very little interdepartmental coordination. Within the U.S. government, there were multiple agencies with overlapping responsibilities within the counterterrorism/counter violent extremist realm, yet their efforts were uncoordinated. Second, the intelligence and analysis section attempts to make the best use of information provided by intelligence agencies and academic analysis of the adversary of interest. The plans and operations team is responsible for designing and implementing all non digital counter violent extremist communication tools. These tools are used to counter terrorist groups ability to gain support and to recruit new members. The materials produced by this section are available to be used by all U.S government agencies. • 3. Barbara Brown Taylor s An Altar In The World Many people consider themselves spiritual, but they would not consider themselves religious. People seek deep meaning in everyday life, but they are not church goers. Barbara Brown Taylor seeks to speak into this divide in An Altar in the World by revealing meaningful practices to discover the sacred in everyday life. Taylor outlines twelve practices addressing vision, reverence, incarnation, groundedness, wilderness, community, vocation, Sabbath, physical labor, breakthrough, prayer, benediction and how through these simple practices we can engage God in different and new ways. Taylor seems to pair her twelve practices as she progresses. Therefore, she opens with the practice of waking up to God celebrating vision. This is the practice of awakening to seeing the presence of God in all that we do. This is accomplished by acknowledging the divine when it happens in the midst of life and taking time to stop long enough to reflect on where you are, who you are with and how awesome that place is in the moment. This practice pairs nicely with the practice of paying attention. Playing attention is the practice of having reverence for everything in life. While this is a rather nebulous chapter from Taylor the practice focuses on intentionally coming before God and being transparent and available to God. Pronouncing blessing express a common wisdom that acknowledge the world for what it is and embracing it with gratitude as we have been embraced with God. Benedictions are a blessing to send people on their way. When we practice pronouncing blessing we affirm God in all things and send other in God presence as we wish and practice to be in God ... Treatments for anxiety has been created based on research found on how to tackle anxiety. A common treatment is medication. Two common medications for anxiety is serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Although other drugs are used, these are the most common ( Treatment ). This suggests that since medications are the most common, more severe symptoms may need extra treatment. Anxiety has multiple treatments including psychotherapy. Psychotherapy has multiple branches, one being cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on management of symptoms and skills to help relaxation. Another would be cognitive restructuring, which enforces positive thinking, along with coping plans for certain situations (Landro 2). This passage suggests that psychotherapy takes a personalized approach for treating anxiety. Although the treatments main focus is to better the patient, it leaves a lot for the victim s family and future. Treatments make take a while to help, which leaves victims feeling worse ( Depression 2). The book, 1984, follows the life of Winston Smith, who lives in a country called Oceania. Oceania is a totalitarian society, ruled by a government known as The Party, whose leader is called Big Brother. In Oceania, every movement and sound a person makes is surveillanced, and one wrong facial expression, statement, or action can cause the Thought Police to take the person away to never be seen again. A small percentage of the population questions The Party s dictatorship, and the novel follows Winston s struggles to keep his hatred of The Party under control, along with his attempt to fight The Party. Many, such as as Joseph Stalin, and you, the school board of Sowell High, wish to ban 1984. However, the Classic Dystopian novel, 1984, should under no circumstances be banned in any school library. The novel, 1984, has a plethora of reasons supporting why it should not be banned in the libraries of schools. For example, 1984 teaches its readers the dangers of government control and totalitarianism. In addition, banning books in general is unconstitutional and violates the First Amendment. Lastly, 1984 reveals aspects of present day societies that go unnoticed. Iphigenia Among the Taurians is a tragedy written by Euripides in the early 400 s BC that follows the family of Orestes. While Iphigenia Among the Taurians is considered within the genre of ancient tragedy, the play may not be the first example someone might conjure up since the main conflict is resolved and the story ends with Iphigenia and her brother Orestes successfully escaping the barbarians to go home to Greece. There are several incidences of suffering in the plot. The most prevalent one, again, is Iphigenia about to kill Orestes. Even the chorus laments this tragic deed and they cry out I cry for you, for your end marked out, the bloody rain of lustral water. Orestes replies that his death needs no pity. Although there is no physical suffering, the audience still feels pity for Orestes because he believes he is about to die, until the recognition occurred. The next major part of suffering occurs towards the end of the book as Orestes, Iphigenia, and Pylades attempt to escape the barbaric lands by pretending to do a cleansing ritual. Corruption also lead to reduced government fiscal funding by investors (lenders) and may result in increased taxes which may result in country instability overtime. I begin by providing the context of a country s economy as it relates to government and firm s roles in developing a country and its economy. The second factor is this, it is probable that firms have lost confidence in the government s trust and transparency and they (firms) do not invest as much as they should to be more productive and hire more people. Furthermore, the Brazil political environment led to instability in the country and during that period, it is almost impossible for Brazil s economy to be as productive as it should be because of mass protests, mass stay away from work and firm investment protests. • 21. Islamophobia Many people remember September 11, 2001 as a day when 19 Muslim extremists hijacked four commercial airplanes and flew them into sundry buildings and areas across the United States. This includes the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., a field in Pennsylvania, and the place where the most damage occurred, the North and South Twin Towers in New York City. Over 3,000 people were killed in these attacks, mostly workers in the towers and the Pentagon who were of all races and religions including Muslims, Sikhs, and Hindus. Calamities like this should bring people together so that they may comfort one another after a great loss. Instead, it drove people apart out of fear of their safety in their own homes. People should remember this day as a tragic event that took the lives of many innocent people, instead many Americans remember this day as the day the Muslims attacked America. This is why Muslim Americans have become pariahs post 9/11 because, of the amount of conflation that has occurred with Muslim Americans and Sikh Americans, the amount of anti Islam behavior practiced in America involving various ideologies of Islam, and the amount of disrespect shown towards Muslim Americans in America on a daily basis. Conflation plays a big role in Muslim Americans becoming pariahs post 9/11. • 22. Baroque Violin Research Paper Since the Baroque period the violin (Baroque violin) has been a standout amongst the most important of all instruments in music, for a few reasons. The tone of the violin emerges above different instruments, making it necessary for playing a tune line. In the hands of a decent player, the violin is greatly lithe, and can execute fast and difficult successions of notes. In reality, the violin appears to fit virtuosity more than any other musical instrument ever created. In spite of the fact that it is widely held belief that the Italian luthier Andrea Amati made the cutting edge violin family around the year 1555, bowed stringed instruments were created much earlier than that. While Stainers and Amatis were more suited for orchestral music in little halls, Stradivaris and Guarneris were more preffered extensive halls with ensemble symphonies, and by 1800 these violinists were the most prominent in Europe. It is no incident that the rise in popularity of the Stradivaris and Guarneris corresponded with the rise of large scale orchestral works, exemplified by Mozart s last orchestras and Beethoven s Eroica orchestra (1805) and his Violin Concerto (1806). Stradivarious improvements, however, incorporated the refinement of the blueprint of the instrument, the diminishment of the general swell of the top plate, an alteration of the state of the f openings, and the formation of the present day state of the extension. Updike continues his portrayal of the vast splendor of nature through metaphors, similes, and diction pertaining to a large flock of starlings that flew and over and lit on the gold course where the two men in the poem are playing. The approaching flock of birds seem like a cloud of dots (Line 16) on the horizon to observers. The author compares The image of the steadily approaching flock of starlings to iron filings (the birds) stuck to a magnet through a piece of paper (the horizon). The men stand in awe of the black, writhing, approaching mass, much like children do when the magnet picks up the filings through the paper. By comparing the approaching birds to the magnet and iron filing scenario in a simile, Updike subtly likens the men reaction to a small child s reaction when he/she sees the magic of the magnet and the iron filings for the first time. The simile purpose is to show how nature can make grown men feel like small, free little kids when experiencing nature at its best. As the observers continue to watch the looming flock of birds, the flock became one huge pulsating mass of birds that seemed as much as one thing as a rock. THE MARKETING OF FOODS AND NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES TO CHILDREN Name Course Professor University City, State Date Introduction Even though marketing has the ability to influence people of all ages, children seem to be the most vulnerable ones. The 2003 Hastings report concluded, on the evidence up to that date, that children in the UK are exposed to extensive food advertising, and that the diet advertised is considerably less healthy than the diet healthcare experts would recommend (Halford and Boyland, 2013, p, 182). The case is not much different in other countries also. Reports from North America (Gantz, et al. 2007; Institute of Medicine, 2005) clearly indicated the increased vulnerability of children towards advertising and marketing activities of foods and non alcoholic beverage manufacturers. The majority of the children do not have the maturity to segregate between the good and evil. They are unaware of the traps made by the product manufacturers and service providers. Influenced by the attractive advertisements and the sales promotion activities by the foods and non alcoholic beverage manufacturers, children often compel their parents to purchase these things for them. Parents, on the other hand, are ready to satisfy the needs of their children since many of the parents think that fulfilling the demands of their children might help them to strengthen their relationships with their children. Piercings are a body mod trend that is sweeping the nation, and is only becoming more popular. We have finally brought to you the top eight most surprising facts that everyone should know about piercing! Number Eight: Healing Time Because of the differences in skin thickness and blood flow in various parts of the body, the healing time for each type of body location is likely to fluctuate. Because ear lobes, tongues, and lips have an increased blood flow in comparison to the rest of the body, they will heal the fastest and be least likely to become infected. Number Seven: The Healing Balance While it is important to keep a pierced area clean, it is also important not to over clean it. Over cleaning can result in intense drying out of the wound (which requires moisture to heal), improper healing or prolonged healing, and increased risk of infection. His eyes were open, but he wasn t thinking or moving anymore, just that dead, stupid look on his face, that terrible look (212). By fighting smartly Ender won the fight with no injuries and ended up stopping the hatred against him. Later Ender heard Bonzo is to be iced, but in fact Bonzo was killed by Ender during the ... • 40. Gender Inequality During Latin American Countries How has gender inequality affected women in Latin American countries? Gender inequality has affected the women of Latin America in a multitude of ways, but it can be argued that the division of gender equality is extremely prominent when analyzing reproductive rights and health care access. Compared to countries such as Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, Latin America is far behind in terms of civil rights and reproductive rights. The lack of rights is not in question; women s barrier to reproductive health can be seen through anecdotes and statistics. The question thus becomes, is there a definite answer to why these rights are absent? Factors concerning the absence of reproductive rights include cultural norms and religion, but the one that plays the biggest role remains the lack of female political leaders in Latin American countries. What exactly is it that is keeping Latin America behind other countries in terms of being progressive regarding reproductive rights? Women s political absence in Latin America has shaped reproductive rights and health care services immensely. While Latin America s lack of reproductive rights would seem to be common knowledge, many are unaware of how exactly women in Latin American countries are affected. In a fairly large number of countries, abortion is illegal. In regards to this, in 2008, 12 percent of maternal deaths in Latin America and the Caribbean were due to unsafe abortions. (Mane, 2013) 95% of the abortions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Rule of Law Basmah Elahi Rule of Law London International Programs, UG Law, Public Law Essay 2. The Rule of Law, enforced by the courts, is the ultimate controlling factor on which our constitution is based. Discuss. The rule of law is one of the fundamental principles of UK s unwritten or uncodified constitution .The key idea of the rule of law is that the law should apply equally to all, rulers and ruled alike. This in the words of the 19 century constitution expert, A.V.Diecy ensures a government of law and not a government of men . The alternative to the rule of law is there for arbitrary government. In this way, the rule of law establishes the relationship between government and the people. AS John ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Law Is Always Applied Disputes must be resolved by the application of the law rather than by other means. This means that there must be a certainty of punishment for breaches of law law cannot apply in certain circumstances, but not in others. By the same token, there should be punishment only for breaches of law people should not be penalized except through the due process of law. However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK; * Not all crimes are reported and therefore legally addressed ( this applies, for instance, in the case of most rapes) * As polices resources are limited many crimes are not detected ( for example , speeding offences) * Trial by the media means that people may be punished without legal proceeding having taken, or, perhaps, despite being acquitted. 4. Legal Redress Is Available Through The Courts If people s rights have been infringed (whether by other citizens, organizations or the state,) they should be able to protect themselves through the law. For many legal experts and a growing body of senior judges this implies that the law should defend fundamental human rights .This is the aspect of the rule of law that safeguards the individuals from the state. However, concerns have been expressed about the extent to which this principle applies in the UK: * There is no entrenched bill of right to protect fundamental human rights * The Human Rights ... • 43. Jaws and Jurassic Park Films Steven Spielberg s Jaws (1975) and his other film Jurassic Park (1993) both contain a major theme of what makes a successful hero in society. In Jaws, police chief Martin Brody must successfully eliminate the threat of a Great White Shark from attacking Amity Island. In Jurassic Park, billionaire John Hammond creates a theme park where cloned dinosaurs come alive, hoping that his ideal resort becomes a major success. Through the use of film style elements, such as editing and mise en scene, Spielberg develops Brody s character as a person who must learn from his past mistakes in order to become a successful hero while Spielberg creates Hammond s character as a man who only sees himself as a hero of science and technology without realizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This contrast in lighting direction is another indicator of the inherent problem with Jurassic Park. The major use of backlighting on Grant represents the dark side of Jurassic Park as Hammond s plan to resurrect dangerous animals such as the Velociraptor for entertainment purposes while suppressing nature is what leads to the park s and Hammond s demise because Hammond can not possibly re create vicious predators from the past and suppress them in artificial environments for profit. Hammond did not envision Jurassic Park as a dangerous place or a violation of nature but as a triumph of scientific research and sees himself as a heroic figure of science. The lighting set up used on Dr. Wu represents the opposing side to Grant s views on Jurassic Park, which would be Hammond s view. If Hammond can get the best minds of the cloning field like Dr. Wu to help him realize his dream resort then he is surely an inspiring figure to the scientific community. Whereas Brody could see the problems that were literally sitting in front of him and learn from them to become a hero, Hammond does not even question what he sees and his decision to ignore what others have to say about his accomplishments only initiate his eventual failure as a role model of science. • 44. Science Engineering, And Biomedical Applications Nanotechnology has been fast expanding in the past decade. This field comprises of technologies that largely involve materials of sizes ranging from 1 to 100 nm. These minute materials may display distinct characteristics as compared to the same material of a larger form. Due to the smaller size, altered shape, arrangement, or increased surface area, these nanomaterials may exhibit unique properties like enhanced strength, flexibility, reactivity, or improved electrical conductivity and absorption.1 As advanced nano materials are produced and commercialized for extensive use in research areas like electronics, materials science engineering, and biomedical applications, there is also an increasing need to develop an effective environmental health and safety (EHS) risk management system for nanoscale particles. Therefore, an accurate determination of EHS risks of nanomaterials could be achieved by understanding nanoparticle interaction with other systems as well as integrating nanomaterials hazard and exposure datasets. Since nanoscale particles are orders of magnitude smaller than many larger organic molecules which are transported through cellular membranes and barriers, these particles are not subjected to the same degree of regulation and thus have far more potential to enter cells and tissues to cause damage. Nanoparticles can indeed exhibit greater toxicity than a larger sized particle of the same toxicant.2 There are several known mechanisms for nanoparticle toxicity, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The creature, which has long been the topic of numerous studies and experiments, is still a source of great mystery. Why in the world does a shark need to grow the size of a school bus? Who is it trying to impress with that massiveness? And those teeth? They taught us in elementary school that a shark might use over 20,000 teeth in its lifetime. If one falls out, another replaces it. Say what you may about the special effects in Jaws, those teeth look real and they will eat your face off. So, therefore the movie was so successful. Because of the productions ability to create a mechanical shark that is similar in anatomy and identical to the real predator, the film could create this higher sense of man vs nature, good vs evil. This horror film will leave you wondering with the question of what if this happens to me. Spielberg took something that was so real and had happened before (shark attacks), and produced a movie that not only warned us and opened our eyes to its reality, but was also able to deliver us with one of the most classic horror films in the history of ... • 47. Critical Analysis Of Supernatural ANALYSIS OF SUPERNATURAL Supernatural. Anyone s first impression upon hearing the name of this tv show would be that it is one for teenagers, full of nonsensical, fictitious storylines. At least my parents have always thought of the show that way, but that is because they have never taken the time to see even one episode of this utterly creative and emotional horror tv series that brings it viewers back season after season. Now, the series is on its 13th season and it is going strong as ever. Why? Because of its themes, because of all the underlying messages it sends to its devoted fans amidst the entertainment of all the surprising plot twists and the show s stance on various issues existing in today s world. So what is Supernatural about? The plot revolves around the adventures of two brothers, Sam and Dean Winchester as they hunt the big, bad monsters that hurt innocent humans. They travel all around the country searching for cases out of the ordinary and take care of the demons, or ghouls, or vampires, whatever terrorizing and rampaging small towns or big cities with their heinous activities.
