The document discusses plans for an initial graphic novel project. It includes a mind map, mood board analysis, and informal proposal. The mood board analysis notes repetition of styles, fonts, and tones across different graphic novels. The proposal outlines a concept for a digital and printable apocalyptic graphic novel developed over chapters. Products would include a cover, page, and poster created in Photoshop using references from Google, fonts from 1001Fonts, and a Planning PowerPoint. The target audience is described as males ages 15+ from a middle class, balanced psychographic. Earlier ideas for a game or movie poster were passed over in favor of a more creative graphic novel.
This document contains a student's evaluation of their final media production project (FMP) creating a graphic novel. In the summary, the student outlines the strengths and weaknesses of their research, planning, time management, and technical and aesthetic qualities of the project. They also include feedback from peers on what they liked about the project and areas for improvement. The student agrees with feedback praising the mysterious cover and use of different art styles, but disagrees that the silhouette needed more design, as it was meant to be mysterious. They would consider changing some comic strip panels to move the story along faster, but kept the current pacing to build suspense.
Jack Garner reflects on the process of creating a graphic novel cover and sample comic page in Photoshop. He began by setting the canvas size and creating characters using various drawing tools while referencing online images. Backgrounds were added using filters on stock images or gradient tools. Text and logos were incorporated. The comic page was assembled using templates edited with selection and eraser tools. Character and scene details were drawn across tiles to depict a story through movement and sound effects. Layer styles were applied throughout for effects like outlines.
Jack Garner is working on pre-production for a graphic novel. He has decided to use color instead of black and white based on survey feedback that color better shows characters and backgrounds to tell the story. He will use a simple panel layout and change the arrangement based on the story. For the cover, he plans to have the main character in color with the antagonist in the background and the title in a contrasting dark color to stand out.
This proposal is for a graphic novel called "Infection volume 1 quarantine" that will entertain readers through a post-apocalyptic story set 3 months after a disease outbreak. Research showed the intended male audience is now balanced between males and females ages 15+. The story will follow an average protagonist trying to save humanity. Considerations were given to the mature content including violence and death, with an age rating to restrict younger access and avoidance of offense through unique characters.
The document describes the process taken to create a magazine cover experiment. The artist started with an A4 canvas and colored the main icon using layers. They then created the title using layers to change the color and add a white outline. A background was added and parts were filled with red using selection and paint bucket tools. Layer styles were used to add texture to the background and a black border. In reflection, the artist intends to include similar techniques like borders, coloring, and layout in the final product.
Jack plans to create an apocalypse-themed graphic novel. He will make a graphic novel cover and page using Photoshop and Google. The target audience is males ages 15+ who are middle class. His mood board analysis found repetition in styles across comics - consistent themes but varied colors, fonts that change for shouting, and sound effects not in speech bubbles. This will influence his work to have a consistent theme but varied colors and fonts and placement of sound effects.
The document is a first-person account from a pizza delivery driver in rural northern Canada describing a disturbing delivery experience. While responding to a late-night delivery call, the driver came across an accident scene with a badly damaged vehicle and signs of blood. He attempted to follow a trail of blood to help the injured driver but encountered an unusually large, hairy, bipedal creature breathing heavily in the snowy woods. The driver fled in fear and reported the incident to police, though what actually occurred remains ambiguous.
The student conducted research on stories to find one to adapt for an audio book recording. Their research provided ideas for the story and format but lacked detail. Planning helped determine using an audio book format with sound effects. Time management allowed completing the project on time, but more time could have improved editing and shortening. Feedback noted the fitting use of sound effects and music but a slow start. The student agrees the start was slow and actor occasionally misread lines, and would rerecord lines and shorten the beginning if repeating the project.
Jack imported an mp3 audio file into Adobe Premiere Pro and edited it by adjusting the volume, cutting parts, and adding online sound effects and backing music to the timeline. He balanced the volume of each audio channel and exported the final product as an mp3. Overall, Jack felt the audio production went well because Premiere Pro was easy to navigate, allowing him to quickly and easily create a final product that met the deadline.
T delivers pizzas in a rural town in northern Canada. On a recent delivery over 50km from the store, T arrived at an abandoned house with broken windows and no door. T heard strange laughing from inside and a voice telling them "I'm very hungry please hurry" in an inhuman way. Terrified, T dropped the pizza and ran as fast as possible back to their car. T has witnessed many creepy things delivering pizzas late at night to remote areas.
This proposal is for an audio book horror story aimed at entertaining audiences aged 15 and older. Specifically, it targets male listeners from middle-class backgrounds who enjoy being scared. The story will explore themes suitable for older audiences but avoid offensive content to prevent legal issues or upsetting social groups. Precautions will be taken to restrict younger access and ensure the content is sufficiently different from existing intellectual properties to avoid copyright claims.
The document describes experiments editing audio files. The experimenter cut unwanted sections from downloaded music using the razor tool in Adobe Premiere. They will include using the razor tool and adding music in their final product, and will record new audio with a different voice actor.
The document summarizes research on existing podcasts and documentaries, finding they generally have a slow pace, formal delivery, and are aimed at older audiences. The research also notes they contain either one long story or a collection of shorter stories, and include backing music fitting the theme. The author plans to incorporate a slow pace, backing music, and a single long story in their own work, targeting an audience aged 15+ that is mostly male and middle class seeking an instinctively scary experience.
The document outlines initial plans that involve Jack Garner and creating a mind map. It mentions Jack Garner and creating a mind map twice, suggesting these are the key elements of the initial plans being discussed. The short document focuses on outlining the involvement of an individual, Jack Garner, and the creation of a mind map as part of some early stage planning efforts.
The student created a magazine cover for their FMP evaluation. Their research involved examining various magazine covers to understand layout, cover images, and advertisements. Their planning included considering different magazine topics before choosing gaming. Their time management was good but the project was late. Feedback noted the cover was eye-catching with its bold title and colors, but the large red advertisement could be smaller. The student agreed the advertisement size could be improved.
Jack Garner created a video game cover by making a logo using text and shapes filled with color. He added this to a high quality background image that left space for additional details. He also made an advertisement by adding more text boxes and coloring a shape red with the game's logo. For a double page review, he made an A3 size horizontal document and used the gradient tool for the background with text and online images.
The document outlines Jack Garner's pre-production plans for a style sheet on the topic of Top Gaming. It includes sections on preferred colors and fonts, potential layouts, necessary software and online resources, contingency planning for issues that may arise, health and safety considerations for working on the computer, and a scheduled plan of action over 8 days to complete the front and back pages using Photoshop and conducting image and text searches through Google.
This proposal outlines a gaming magazine called "Top Gaming" aimed at teenagers aged 13 and older of any gender or social status. The magazine would entertain, inform, and educate readers about new and upcoming games through reviews, previews, and advertisements. Content would include specific reviews and sneak peaks of games. As the magazine covers some mature games, access would be restricted for younger audiences. Offensive or unlicensed material would be avoided to prevent legal issues.

24. Research Evaluation
• Give an overview of how you conducted your research. Discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of each method
– Product Research
• For product research I got type of horror graphic novels that I liked and thought would fit
the theme of what I'm going to create. The strengths of using this method is that you can
get a good idea of what other professional products are like. The weakness of this of this
method is that sometimes I was stuck with what I could analyse.
– Questionnaires
• For questionnaires I used survey monkey to make my survey and then I passed it out to
people in my class via email and I also gave it to some other people who I knew read
graphic novels. The strengths of this method are that it’s a good way to get information
from a lot of people and it helps you know what you should include to fit your target
audience. The weakness is that it can be limited to the people who you can send it to
also it might not always help as some people give stupid reply which don’t help at all.
– Interviews
for interviews I asked people in my class to answer a question to help me with
what I needed to know the strengths of this method is that people usually give helpful
answers to what you need. The weakness is that it can be limited by the people you
can ask and it doesn’t go to a wider audience its just one person.
25. Research Evaluation
– What sort of a response did you get?
For my survey I mostly got a good response as most of my replies were helpful
apart from a few joke replies which didn’t help at all.
– How did you distribute your survey? Give an advantage and a disadvantage
I distributed my survey with email which is an okay way to send it as I can send it
to my whole class to give me responses but not everyone in my class reads
graphic novels so they cant give the best response. I also sent it through text to
some friends which I knew reads graphic novels a lot which helped because I
then got responses from my target audience.
