The combination of the main product (a music album digipack) and ancillary texts (research on other album packaging and designs) was effective. Research on other albums informed the design of the digipack, ensuring a consistent theme and attention to details. The digipack cover design shares similarities with the album it was inspired by, including a central image and minimal other features. Fonts and color schemes are also consistent throughout the digipack and ancillary poster to recognize the album and link the pieces together.

2. Digipack research
• The digipack of the Gorillaz album
called Plastic Beach was able to
improve my understanding of how
a well designed Digi-pack is
meant to look. The artwork of the
Digi-pack followed a set theme of
the album which is of the plastic
beach and this showed me that it
is important for there to be some
form of correlation throughout the
Digi-pack. Therefore the
combination between my main
product and ancillary tasks are
strong as it was designed based
on my prior research

3. Digipack
• The creation of my digipack was done entirely on Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 and was an
effective tool in putting together the pieces in order for me to create a realistic project. The
design of the digipack was inspired by the research into various other Cd covers of different
genres and mostly the cover of an album by American rapper Mac Miller called “Go:od am”
Here we can see the similarities of the two covers as they both have central image and minimal
other features however this is to ensure the simplicity of the cover and signifies the artists face.
It was important to have a reoccurring theme among the digipack so people could recognize
and become familiar with the album such as the colour scheme or the fonts. My ancillary tasks
also enabled me to see the minute details that authenticate a digipack which is why I decided
to add a parental advisory label as it featured on many of the other covers that I researched.

4. Digipack continued
The back cover of the digipack consists of
the song titles and keeps with the theme of
the digipack as it has the same colours
and also the two white eyes which also
appear on the front cover. This idea was
mainly generated from my research of the
gorillaz digipack from one of their albums
and saw that the back cover shared many
similarities with the front perhaps to keep
with the theme. The font is also the same
as on the front cover and this was
important as it shows continuity and
makes the album recognizable to people
even if they have just seen the title of it in
that specific font.

5. Main Product and ancillary text
• I thought that my ancillary tasks just gave me a idea of what is expected in a
successful Digi-pack and as a result the combination of my ancillary text and
my main product is effective. In the production of my music video the
narrative which deals with emotional stages from a male perspective is
intense and also a serious issue, this is seen in the Digi-pack as the colour
scheme and fonts are also bold and dark.
• The poster that I created also links well with the main product as if differs but
sticks to the important themes such as colour and narrative. The poster
consist of a black and white colour scheme and features an almost mask like
face as the main central image similarly to the digipak front cover. The poster
is effective because it can be interpreted as a metaphorical image that being
that the mask represents the artificial emotions of the character and what's
real is being hidden.

6. Correlation between main product and
ancillary tasks…
As you see there is a clear similarity across the ancillary tasks and the main product. Firstly they
follow the same colour scheme which is important as I wanted them to link and also portray the
mood of the narrative. Secondly they somewhat focus on the expression of the character and his
true feelings towards the unfortunate break-up
