assessments that may include projects, quizzes, and
tests. Formative assessments will be used to monitor
student progress before giving summative assessments.

be successful, you must study. Be sure to take

Daily Supplies
Students will need the following supplies every
day in algebra class this year:
1. Paper (loose-leaf & graph paper)
2. Pencils (sharpened with eraser)
3. Red pen & highlighters (at least 2 colors)
4. Three-ring notebook
For school & home use, I strongly recommend a
TI-84 or TI-83 Plus graphing calculator. A class
set is available for school use only.
Students are asked to donate one 4-
pack of AAA batteries. Thank you!!

An organized notebook = success in math class!
• Use your Assignment sheet!
• Keep up with your BW sheets!
• Number every page!!!
Many eighth grade students find studying for
math tests difficult because they have not had to
‘study’ in previous years to maintain an A/B
math average. Simply looking over already
completed problems is not studying for a math
test. Studying for tests and quizzes involves:
• reviewing/reworking formative assessments,
• reviewing properties and vocabulary,
• reworking sample problems (from scratch),
• completing additional problems not assigned
in class
Assessments must be completed within the
class period.
Do Corrections!!!
Students scoring below a 70% on major
assessments have the option to retake their
assessment to raise their score up to 70%.
Re-take Requirements: corrections on ALL unit
assessments, up-to-date on HW, spartan time
remediation, retakes will be given after school.
