The document proposes a new signaling technique called Auto-Correlated Optical OFDM (ACO-OFDM) for free space optical communications based on bit error rate. ACO-OFDM uses the autocorrelation of frequency coefficients to generate signals directly without constraining modulation bandwidth, ensuring non-negativity. Simulation results show that ACO-OFDM has better bit error rate performance compared to existing techniques like DC-biased OFDM and Asymmetrically Clipped Optical OFDM.
