This document discusses new community-based initiatives in India to detect diabetic neuropathy early. It describes efforts by Nicholas Piramal India Ltd. to raise awareness among doctors and at-risk individuals, conduct neuropathy screening programs using vibration perception threshold testing and sensitometers, and leverage their network of territory managers to screen over 5000 patients per month across India. The initiatives aim to detect neuropathy early to prevent progression, ulceration, and amputation by holding over 250 in-clinic and community screening programs monthly. Challenges include the large high-risk population and reaching underserved rural and low-income groups.
