The document proposes a novel automated process called ACTD for colorizing grayscale images using texture descriptors without human intervention. It analyzes sample color images to extract coherent texture regions, then uses Gabor filtering for texture-based segmentation. Texture descriptors and color information are computed and stored for each region. These are then used to colorize a new grayscale image based on texture matching. The method combines techniques such as Gabor filtering, fuzzy C-means clustering with a new "Gki factor" for noise tolerance, and content-based image retrieval of texture descriptors. Preliminary results found the approach viable but improvements were needed for scale and rotation invariance.

A New Method for Indoor-outdoor Image Classification Using Color Correlated T...CSCJournals
In this paper a new method for indoor-outdoor image classification is presented; where the concept of Color Correlated Temperature is used to extract distinguishing features between the two classes. In this process, using Hue color component, each image is segmented into different color channels and color correlated temperature is calculated for each channel. These values are then incorporated to build the image feature vector. Besides color temperature values, the feature vector also holds information about the color formation of the image. In the classification phase, KNN classifier is used to classify images as indoor or outdoor. Two different datasets are used for test purposes; a collection of images gathered from the internet and a second dataset built by frame extraction from different video sequences from one video capturing device. High classification rate, compared to other state of the art methods shows the ability of the proposed method for indoor-outdoor image classification.

Multispectral Satellite Color Image Segmentation Using Fuzzy Based Innovative...Dibya Jyoti Bora
Multispectral satellite color images need special treatment for object-based classification like segmentation.
Traditional algorithms are not efficient enough for performing segmentation of such high-resolution images as
they often result in a serious problem: over-segmentation. So, an innovative approach for segmentation of
multispectral color images is proposed in this paper to tackle the same. The proposed approach consists of two
phases. In the first phase, the pre-processing of the selected bands is conducted for noise removal and contrast
enhancement of the input multispectral satellite color image on the HSV color space. In the second phase, fuzzy
segmentation of the enhanced version of the image obtained in the first phase is carried out by FCM algorithm
through optimal parameter passing. Final shifting from HSV to RGB color space presents the segmentation
result by separating different regions of interest with proper and distinguished color labeling. The results found
are quite promising and comparatively better than the other state of the art algorithms.
This document summarizes image indexing and its features. It discusses that image indexing is used to retrieve similar images from a database based on extracted features like color, shape, and texture. Color features can be represented by models like RGB, HSV, and color histograms. Shape features include global properties like roundness and local features like edge segments. Texture is described using statistical, structural, and spectral approaches. Texture feature extraction methods discussed include standard wavelets, Gabor wavelets, and extracting features like entropy and standard deviation. The paper provides an overview of the different features used for image indexing and classification.
This document summarizes a capstone project that developed a vision-based system for classifying turf and non-turf regions for an autonomous lawn mower. The system extracts color and texture features from blocks of the camera image and then classifies each block as turf or non-turf using k-means clustering or support vector machines (SVM). An SVM classifier with a radial basis function kernel produced the best performance across varied lighting conditions. The project aims to allow the mower to avoid non-turf regions and obstacles in real-time using computer vision instead of boundary wires or contact sensors.

This document proposes a new method for segmenting outdoor images called Color Cluster Elimination (CCE) which utilizes color clustering and texture analysis. CCE performs color clustering in a multi-resolution pyramid to gradually eliminate larger color clusters, preventing them from dominating segmentation and allowing smaller clusters to emerge more clearly. It then examines regions for adjacent homochromatic objects with different textures, introducing Texture Sewn Response (TSR) to indicate texture strength across resolutions/directions. The method is evaluated on the BSDS500 dataset against other metrics, demonstrating satisfactory performance for outdoor scene segmentation.

Region-based color image segmentation is elementary steps in image processing and computer vision. The region-based color image segmentation has faced the problem of multidimensionality. The color image is considered in five-dimensional problems, in which three dimensions in color (RGB) and two dimensions in geometry (luminosity layer and chromaticity layer). In this paper, L*a*b color space conversion has been used to reduce the one dimension and geometrically it converts in the array hence the further one dimension has been reduced. This paper introduced, an improved algorithm modified moth flame optimization (MMFO) algorithm for RGB color image segmentation which is based on bio-inspired techniques. The simulation results of MMFO for region based color image segmentation are performed better as compared to PSO and GA, in terms of computation times for all the images. The experiment results of this method gives clear segments based on the different color and the different number of clusters is used during the segmentation process.

improving differently illuminant images with fuzzy membership based saturatio...INFOGAIN PUBLICATION
Illumination estimation is basic to white balancing digital color images and to color constancy. The key to automatic white balancing of digital images is to estimate precisely the color of the overall scene illumination. Many methods for estimating the illumination’s color has proposed. Though not the most exact, one of the simplest and quite extensively used methods are the gray world algorithm, white patch, max-RGB, Gray edge using first order derivative and gray edge using second order derivative, saturation weighting. The first-three methods have neglected the multiple light sources illuminate. In this work, we investigate how illuminate estimation techniques can be improved using fuzzy membership. The main aim of this paper is to evaluate performance of Fuzzy Enhancement based saturation weighting technique for different light sources (single, multiple, indoor scene and outdoor scene) under different conditions. The experiment has clearly shown the effectiveness of the proposed technique over the available methods.
PDE BASED FEATURES FOR TEXTURE ANALYSIS USING WAVELET TRANSFORMIJCI JOURNAL
This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a novel method for texture analysis using wavelet transforms and partial differential equations (PDEs). The method involves applying wavelet transforms to images to obtain directional information. Anisotropic diffusion, a PDE technique, is then used on the directional information to compute a texture approximation. Various statistical features are extracted from the texture approximation. Linear discriminant analysis enhances class separability of the features before classification using k-nearest neighbors. The document presents a method for detecting copy-move forgery in digital images using center-symmetric local binary pattern (CS-LBP). The key steps are:
1. The input image is converted to grayscale and divided into overlapping blocks.
2. CS-LBP features are extracted from each block to represent textures while being invariant to illumination and rotation. This reduces the feature dimensions compared to local binary pattern (LBP).
3. The distances between feature vectors are calculated and sorted lexicographically to group similar blocks together. Distances below a threshold indicate copied regions.
4. Post-processing with morphological operations fills holes and removes outliers to generate a mask of the forged regions.

This document discusses color modes in Photoshop including bitmap, grayscale, duotone, indexed color, RGB, CMYK, and Lab color. It also covers multichannel color mode and layers. Bitmap uses 1-bit color while grayscale uses 8-bits per pixel for black, white, and shades of gray. Duotone allows using two colors and Lab color represents lightness and color opponent dimensions. The document also briefly discusses type tools, vertical and horizontal type, and shortcuts for entering and committing text.
The document discusses color models including HLS and YIQ. It provides background on visible light wavelengths and introduces the YIQ and HLS color models. The YIQ model with Y for luminance, I for in-phase, and Q for quadrature was used in analog television to transmit color information using one signal. The HLS and HSV models represent color as Hue, Lightness/Value, and Saturation in a double hexagonal cone with white at the top and black at the bottom to better match human color perception compared to the RGB model. The models have applications in color selection, comparison, editing and image analysis.
This document discusses color models and color spaces. It defines color models as specifications for representing colors as points within a coordinate system. Common color models include RGB, grayscale, and binary. It describes how human vision perceives color through red, green, and blue cone receptors in the eye. Hue, saturation, and brightness are also defined as the three properties that describe color, with hue being the actual color, saturation being the purity of the color, and brightness being the relative intensity.

3) Converting between color models and adjusting color properties like hue, saturation, and intensity.
4) Applications of color processing like pseudocoloring grayscale images and correcting color imbalances.
5) Approaches for adapting color images to be more visible for those with color vision deficiencies.

This allows the contour to globally evolve to object boundaries while handling topology changes.

This document discusses color image processing and color models. It covers:
1) The basics of color perception and how humans see color through cone cells in the eye sensitive to different wavelengths.
2) Common color models like RGB, HSV, and CMYK and how they represent color.
3) Converting between color models and adjusting color properties like hue, saturation, and intensity.
4) Applications of color processing like pseudocoloring grayscale images and correcting color imbalances.
5) Approaches for adapting color images to be more visible for those with color vision deficiencies.
The document discusses different types of images in Matlab including binary, grayscale, indexed, and RGB images. It also summarizes commands to convert between image types such as converting grayscale to indexed or truecolor to binary. Finally, it provides examples of how to view images, measure pixel values and distances, and crop images using the imtool command.
A color model specifies a color space and visible subset of colors within it. There are four main hardware-oriented color models: RGB, CMY, CMYK, and YIQ. However, these are not intuitive for describing color in terms of hue, saturation and brightness. Therefore, models like HSV, HLS, and HVC were developed which relate more directly to human perception of color. The RGB and CMY models represent colors as combinations of red, green, blue and cyan, magenta, yellow primary colors respectively and are used in monitors and printing.
The document provides an overview of basic image processing concepts and techniques using MATLAB, including:
- Reading and displaying images
- Performing operations on image matrices like dilation, erosion, and thresholding
- Segmenting images using global and local thresholding methods
- Identifying and labeling connected components
- Extracting properties of connected components using regionprops
- Performing tasks like edge detection and noise removal
Code examples and explanations are provided for key functions like imread, imshow, imdilate, imerode, im2bw, regionprops, and edge.
This document discusses various color models used in computer graphics including RGB, HSV, HSL, CMY, and CMYK. It explains the key components of each model such as hue, saturation, value, and how colors are represented. Common applications of different color models are also summarized such as RGB for computer displays and CMYK for printing. In addition, the concepts of dithering and half-toning techniques used to reproduce colors on devices are introduced.
This document discusses different color models used in computer graphics and printing. It explains that color models are systems for creating a range of colors from a small set of primary colors. The two main types are additive models which use light, like RGB, and subtractive models which use inks, like CMYK. RGB uses red, green and blue light and is for computer displays. CMYK uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks and is the standard for color printing. It provides details on how each model mixes colors and describes other models like HSV which represents color in terms of hue, saturation and value.

A Survey on Image Segmentation and its Applications in Image Processing IJEEE
As technology grows day by day computer vision becomes a vital field of understanding the behavior of an image. Image segmentation is a sub field of computer vision that deals with the partition of objects into number of segments. Image segmentation found a huge application in pattern reorganization, texture analysis as well as in medial image processing. This paper focus on distinct sort of image segmentation techniques that are utilized in computer vision. Thus a survey has been created for various image segmentation techniques that describe the importance of the same. Comparison and conclusion has been created within the finish of this paper.
1) The document discusses image segmentation in satellite images using optimal texture measures. It evaluates four texture measures from the gray-level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM) with six different window sizes.
2) Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is applied to reduce the texture measures to a manageable size while retaining discrimination information.
3) The methodology consists of selecting an optimal window size and optimal texture measure. A 7x7 window size provided superior performance for classification. PCA is used to analyze correlations between texture measures and window sizes.
An effective RGB color selection for complex 3D object structure in scene gra...IJECEIAES
Our goal of the project is to develop a complete, fully detailed 3D interactive model of the human body and systems in the human body, and allow the user to interacts in 3D with all the elements of that system, to teach students about human anatomy. Some organs, which contain a lot of details about a particular anatomy, need to be accurately and fully described in minute detail, such as the brain, lungs, liver and heart. These organs are need have all the detailed descriptions of the medical information needed to learn how to do surgery on them, and should allow the user to add careful and precise marking to indicate the operative landmarks on the surgery location. Adding so many different items of information is challenging when the area to which the information needs to be attached is very detailed and overlaps with all kinds of other medical information related to the area. Existing methods to tag areas was not allowing us sufficient locations to attach the information to. Our solution combines a variety of tagging methods, which use the marking method by selecting the RGB color area that is drawn in the texture, on the complex 3D object structure. Then, it relies on those RGB color codes to tag IDs and create relational tables that store the related information about the specific areas of the anatomy. With this method of marking, it is possible to use the entire set of color values (R, G, B) to identify a set of anatomic regions, and this also makes it possible to define multiple overlapping regions.
COLOUR BASED IMAGE SEGMENTATION USING HYBRID KMEANS WITH WATERSHED SEGMENTATIONIAEME Publication
Image processing, arbitrarily manipulating an image to achieve an aesthetic standard or to support a preferred reality. The objective of segmentation is partitioning an image into distinct regions containing each pixels with similar attributes. Image segmentation can be done using thresholding, color space segmentation, k-means clustering.
Segmentation is the low-level operation concerned with partitioning images by determining disjoint and homogeneous regions or, equivalently, by finding edges or boundaries. The homogeneous regions, or the edges, are supposed to correspond, actual objects, or parts of them, within the images. Thus, in a large number of applications in image processing and computer vision, segmentation plays a fundamental role as the first step before applying to images higher-level operations such as recognition, semantic interpretation, and representation. Until very recently, attention has been focused on segmentation of gray-level images since these have been the only kind of visual information that acquisition devices were able to take the computer resources to handle. Nowadays, color image has definitely displaced monochromatic information and computation power is no longer a limitation in processing large volumes of data. In this paper proposed hybrid k-means with watershed segmentation algorithm is used segment the images. Filtering techniques is used as noise filtration method to improve the results and PSNR, MSE performance parameters has been calculated and shows the level of accuracy
A CONCERT EVALUATION OF EXEMPLAR BASED IMAGE INPAINTING ALGORITHMS FOR NATURA...cscpconf
Image inpainting derives from restoration of art works, and has been applied to repair ancient
art works. Inpainting is a technique of restoring a partially damaged or occluded image in an
undetectable way. It fills the damaged part of an image by employing information of the
undamaged part according to some rules to make it look “reasonable” to human eyes. Digital
image inpainting is relatively new area of research, but numerous and different approaches to
tackle the inpainting problem have been proposed since the concept was first introduced. This
paper analyzes and compares the recent exemplar based inpainting algorithms by Minqin Wang
and Hao Guo et al. A number of examples on real images are demonstrated to evaluate the
results of algorithms using Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR)

An Analysis and Comparison of Quality Index Using Clustering Techniques for S...CSCJournals
This document presents a proposed methodology for microarray image segmentation using clustering techniques. The methodology involves three main steps: preprocessing, gridding, and segmentation. Segmentation is performed using an enhanced fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm (EFCMC) that uses neighborhood pixel information and gray levels. EFCMC can accurately detect absent spots and is tolerant to noise. The methodology is tested on real microarray images and its segmentation quality is assessed using a quality index. Results show EFCMC improves the quality index compared to k-means clustering and fuzzy c-means clustering.
Image Segmentation from RGBD Images by 3D Point Cloud Attributes and High-Lev...CSCJournals
The document describes an image segmentation algorithm that uses both color and depth features extracted from RGBD images captured by a Kinect sensor. The algorithm clusters pixels into segments based on their color, texture, 3D spatial coordinates, surface normals, and the output of a graph-based segmentation algorithm. Depth features help resolve illumination issues and occlusion that cannot be handled by color-only methods. The algorithm was tested on commercial building images and showed potential for real-time applications.
Low level features for image retrieval basedcaijjournal
In this paper, we present a novel approach for image retrieval based on extraction of low level features
using techniques such as Directional Binary Code (DBC), Haar Wavelet transform and Histogram of
Oriented Gradients (HOG). The DBC texture descriptor captures the spatial relationship between any pair
of neighbourhood pixels in a local region along a given direction, while Local Binary Patterns (LBP)
descriptor considers the relationship between a given pixel and its surrounding neighbours. Therefore,
DBC captures more spatial information than LBP and its variants, also it can extract more edge
information than LBP. Hence, we employ DBC technique in order to extract grey level texture features
(texture map) from each RGB channels individually and computed texture maps are further combined
which represents colour texture features (colour texture map) of an image. Then, we decomposed the
extracted colour texture map and original image using Haar wavelet transform. Finally, we encode the
shape and local features of wavelet transformed images using Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) for
content based image retrieval. The performance of proposed method is compared with existing methods on
two databases such as Wang’s corel image and Caltech 256. The evaluation results show that our
approach outperforms the existing methods for image retrieval.
This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a novel background removal algorithm using fuzzy c-means clustering. It begins by introducing background subtraction and some of the challenges. It then describes the proposed algorithm which uses edge detection to locate regions of interest before applying fuzzy c-means clustering to segment the foreground object. The algorithm achieves significant computation time reduction compared to other methods. Experimental results show the proposed method has higher true positive rates and accuracy compared to other algorithms, though precision and similarity are slightly lower.

BAYESIAN CLASSIFICATION OF FABRICS USING BINARY CO-OCCURRENCE MATRIXijistjournal
This document discusses classifying fabrics using a Bayesian classifier with features extracted from binary co-occurrence matrices (BLCM) and gray level co-occurrence matrices (GLCM). BLCM and GLCM capture texture information by calculating pixel pair relationships. Features like contrast, energy, entropy and homogeneity are extracted from both BLCM and GLCM and used to classify fabrics (silk, nylon, cotton, wool) with the Bayesian classifier. The accuracy of BLCM-based classification is compared to GLCM-based classification. BLCM performed better with an accuracy rate of 85% on test images.
BAYESIAN CLASSIFICATION OF FABRICS USING BINARY CO-OCCURRENCE MATRIXijistjournal
Classification of fabrics is usually performed manually which requires considerable human efforts. The goal of this paper is to recognize and classify the types of fabrics, in order to identify a weave pattern automatically using image processing system. In this paper, fabric texture feature is extracted using Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrices as well as Binary Level Co-occurrence Matrices. The Co-occurrence matrices functions characterize the texture of an image by calculating how often pairs of pixel with specific values and in a specified spatial relationship occur in an image, and then extracting statistical measures from this matrix. The extracted features from GLCM and BLCM are used to classify the texture by Bayesian classifier to compare their effectiveness.
This document describes an interactive multi-label image segmentation algorithm called "GrowCut" based on cellular automata. The algorithm can segment N-dimensional images with multiple labels. With modest user input of labeled pixels, GrowCut automatically segments the rest of the image in an iterative process. It requires less user effort than other techniques for moderately difficult images. The algorithm has advantages such as efficiency, parallelizability, and extensibility to generate new segmentation methods.
Image Segmentation Using Pairwise Correlation ClusteringIJERA Editor
A pairwise hypergraph based image segmentation framework is formulated in a supervised manner for various images. The image segmentation is to infer the edge label over the pairwise hypergraph by maximizing the normalized cuts. Correlation clustering which is a graph partitioning algorithm, was shown to be effective in a number of applications such as identification, clustering of documents and image segmentation. The partitioning result is derived from a algorithm to partition a pairwise graph into disjoint groups of coherent nodes. In the pairwise correlation clustering, the pairwise graph which is used in the correlation clustering is generalized to a superpixel graph where a node corresponds to a superpixel and a link between adjacent superpixels corresponds to an edge. This pairwise correlation clustering also considers the feature vector which extracts several visual cues from a superpixel, including brightness, color, texture, and shape. Significant progress in clustering has been achieved by algorithms that are based on pairwise affinities between the datasets. The experimental results are shown by calculating the typical cut and inference in an undirected graphical model and datasets.

Content Based Image Retrieval Approach Based on Top-Hat Transform And Modifie...cscpconf
In this paper a robust approach is proposed for content based image retrieval (CBIR) using texture analysis techniques. The proposed approach includes three main steps. In the first one, shape detection is done based on Top-Hat transform to detect and crop object part of the image. Second step is included a texture feature representation algorithm using color local binary patterns (CLBP) and local variance features. Finally, to retrieve mostly closing matching images to the query, log likelihood ratio is used. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated using Corel and Simplicity image sets and it compared by some of other well-known approaches in terms of precision and recall which shows the superiority of the proposed approach. Low noise sensitivity, rotation invariant, shift invariant, gray scale invariant and low computational complexity are some of other advantages.

IRJET-A Review on Implementation of High Dimension Colour Transform in Domain...IRJET Journal
This document reviews algorithms for detecting salient regions in images using high dimensional color transforms. It summarizes several existing methods that use color contrast, frequency analysis, and superpixel segmentation. A key method discussed creates a saliency map by finding the optimal linear combination of color coefficients in a high dimensional color space. This allows more accurate detection of salient objects versus methods using only RGB color. The performance of this high dimensional color transform method is improved by also utilizing relative location and color contrast between superpixels as learned features.

Power System State Estimation - A ReviewIDES Editor
This document provides a review of power system state estimation techniques. It discusses both static and dynamic state estimation algorithms. For static state estimation, it covers weighted least squares, decoupled, and robust estimation methods. Weighted least squares is commonly used but can have numerical instability issues. Decoupled state estimation approximates the gain matrix for faster computation. Robust estimation uses M-estimators and other techniques to handle outliers and bad data. Dynamic state estimation applies Kalman filtering, leapfrog algorithms, and other methods to continuously monitor system states over time.
Artificial Intelligence Technique based Reactive Power Planning Incorporating...IDES Editor
This document summarizes a research paper that proposes using artificial intelligence techniques and FACTS controllers for reactive power planning in real-time power transmission systems. The paper formulates the reactive power planning problem and incorporates flexible AC transmission system (FACTS) devices like static VAR compensators (SVC), thyristor controlled series capacitors (TCSC), and unified power flow controllers (UPFC). Evolutionary algorithms like evolutionary programming (EP) and differential evolution (DE) are applied to find the optimal locations and settings of the FACTS controllers to minimize losses and costs. Simulation results on IEEE 30-bus and 72-bus Indian test systems show that UPFC performs best in reducing losses compared to SVC and TCSC.

paper. This study presents robust tuning of PID-PSS and
SVC-based controllers using Genetic Algorithms (GA) in

Optimal Placement of DG for Loss Reduction and Voltage Sag Mitigation in Radi...IDES Editor
This paper presents the need to operate the power
system economically and with optimum levels of voltages has
further led to an increase in interest in Distributed
Generation. In order to reduce the power losses and to improve
the voltage in the distribution system, distributed generators
(DGs) are connected to load bus. To reduce the total power
losses in the system, the most important process is to identify
the proper location for fixing and sizing of DGs. It presents a
new methodology using a new population based meta heuristic
approach namely Artificial Bee Colony algorithm(ABC) for
the placement of Distributed Generators(DG) in the radial
distribution systems to reduce the real power losses and to
improve the voltage profile, voltage sag mitigation. The power
loss reduction is important factor for utility companies because
it is directly proportional to the company benefits in a
competitive electricity market, while reaching the better power
quality standards is too important as it has vital effect on
customer orientation. In this paper an ABC algorithm is
developed to gain these goals all together. In order to evaluate
sag mitigation capability of the proposed algorithm, voltage
in voltage sensitive buses is investigated. An existing 20KV
network has been chosen as test network and results are
compared with the proposed method in the radial distribution
system.
Line Losses in the 14-Bus Power System Network using UPFCIDES Editor
Controlling power flow in modern power systems
can be made more flexible by the use of recent developments
in power electronic and computing control technology. The
Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) is a Flexible AC
transmission system (FACTS) device that can control all the
three system variables namely line reactance, magnitude and
phase angle difference of voltage across the line. The UPFC
provides a promising means to control power flow in modern
power systems. Essentially the performance depends on proper
control setting achievable through a power flow analysis
program. This paper presents a reliable method to meet the
requirements by developing a Newton-Raphson based load
flow calculation through which control settings of UPFC can
be determined for the pre-specified power flow between the
lines. The proposed method keeps Newton-Raphson Load Flow
(NRLF) algorithm intact and needs (little modification in the
Jacobian matrix). A MATLAB program has been developed to
calculate the control settings of UPFC and the power flow
between the lines after the load flow is converged. Case studies
have been performed on IEEE 5-bus system and 14-bus system
to show that the proposed method is effective. These studies
indicate that the method maintains the basic NRLF properties
such as fast computational speed, high degree of accuracy and
good convergence rate.
Study of Structural Behaviour of Gravity Dam with Various Features of Gallery...IDES Editor
The size and shape of opening in dam causes the
stress concentration, it also causes the stress variation in the
rest of the dam cross section. The gravity method of the analysis
does not consider the size of opening and the elastic property
of dam material. Thus the objective of study is comprises of
the Finite Element Method which considers the size of
opening, elastic property of material, and stress distribution
because of geometric discontinuity in cross section of dam.
Stress concentration inside the dam increases with the opening
in dam which results in the failure of dam. Hence it is
necessary to analyses large opening inside the dam. By making
the percentage area of opening constant and varying size and
shape of opening the analysis is carried out. For this purpose
a section of Koyna Dam is considered. Dam is defined as a
plane strain element in FEM, based on geometry and loading
condition. Thus this available information specified our path
of approach to carry out 2D plane strain analysis. The results
obtained are then compared mutually to get most efficient
way of providing large opening in the gravity dam.
Assessing Uncertainty of Pushover Analysis to Geometric ModelingIDES Editor
Pushover Analysis a popular tool for seismic
performance evaluation of existing and new structures and is
nonlinear Static procedure where in monotonically increasing
loads are applied to the structure till the structure is unable
to resist the further load .During the analysis, whatever the
strength of concrete and steel is adopted for analysis of
structure may not be the same when real structure is
constructed and the pushover analysis results are very sensitive
to material model adopted, geometric model adopted, location

analyzer. In this paper attempt has been made to assess
uncertainty in pushover analysis results by considering user

with experimental observations. Uncertain parameters
considered includes the strength of concrete, strength of steel
and cover to the reinforcement which are randomly generated
and incorporated into the analysis. The results are then
compared with experimental observations.

Selfish Node Isolation & Incentivation using Progressive ThresholdsIDES Editor
The problems associated with selfish nodes in
MANET are addressed by a collaborative watchdog approach
which reduces the detection time for selfish nodes thereby
improves the performance and accuracy of watchdogs[1]. In
the related works they make use of credit based systems, reputation
based mechanisms, pathrater and watchdog mechanism
to detect such selfish nodes. In this paper we follow an approach
of collaborative watchdog which reduces the detection
time for selfish nodes and also involves the removal of such
selfish nodes based on some progressively assessed thresholds.
The threshold gives the nodes a chance to stop misbehaving
before it is permanently deleted from the network.
The node passes through several isolation processes before it
is permanently removed. Another version of AODV protocol
is used here which allows the simulation of selfish nodes in
NS2 by adding or modifying log files in the protocol.
Various OSI Layer Attacks and Countermeasure to Enhance the Performance of WS...IDES Editor
Wireless sensor networks are networks having non
wired infrastructure and dynamic topology. In OSI model each
layer is prone to various attacks, which halts the performance
of a network .In this paper several attacks on four layers of
OSI model are discussed and security mechanism is described
to prevent attack in network layer i.e wormhole attack. In
Wormhole attack two or more malicious nodes makes a covert
channel which attracts the traffic towards itself by depicting a
low latency link and then start dropping and replaying packets
in the multi-path route. This paper proposes promiscuous mode
method to detect and isolate the malicious node during
wormhole attack by using Ad-hoc on demand distance vector
routing protocol (AODV) with omnidirectional antenna. The
methodology implemented notifies that the nodes which are
not participating in multi-path routing generates an alarm
message during delay and then detects and isolate the
malicious node from network. We also notice that not only
the same kind of attacks but also the same kind of
countermeasures can appear in multiple layer. For example,
misbehavior detection techniques can be applied to almost all
the layers we discussed.

It proposes using JAR (Java Archive) files for data sharing due to benefits like portability. The framework incorporates client-side verification using MD5 hashing, digital signature-based authentication of JAR files, and use of HMAC to ensure data integrity. It also uses password-based encryption of log files to keep them tamper-proof. The framework is intended to provide both accountability and security for data sharing in cloud environments.
Genetic Algorithm based Layered Detection and Defense of HTTP BotnetIDES Editor
A System state in HTTP botnet uses HTTP protocol
for the creation of chain of Botnets thereby compromising
other systems. By using HTTP protocol and port number 80,
attacks can not only be hidden but also pass through the
firewall without being detected. The DPR based detection
leads to better analysis of botnet attacks [3]. However, it
provides only probabilistic detection of the attacker and also
time consuming and error prone. This paper proposes a Genetic
algorithm based layered approach for detecting as well as
preventing botnet attacks. The paper reviews p2p firewall
implementation which forms the basis of filtering.
Performance evaluation is done based on precision, F-value
and probability. Layered approach reduces the computation
and overall time requirement [7]. Genetic algorithm promises
a low false positive rate.
Enhancing Data Storage Security in Cloud Computing Through SteganographyIDES Editor
This document summarizes a research paper that proposes a method for enhancing data security in cloud computing through steganography. The method hides user data in digital images stored on cloud servers. When data needs to be accessed, it is extracted from the images. The document outlines the cloud architecture and security issues addressed. It then describes the proposed system architecture, security model, and data storage and retrieval process. Data is partitioned and hidden in multiple images to improve security. The goal is to prevent unauthorized access to user data stored on cloud servers.
The main tasks of a Wireless Sensor Network
(WSN) are data collection from its nodes and communication
of this data to the base station (BS). The protocols used for
communication among the WSN nodes and between the WSN
and the BS, must consider the resource constraints of nodes,
battery energy, computational capabilities and memory. The
WSN applications involve unattended operation of the network
over an extended period of time. In order to extend the lifetime
of a WSN, efficient routing protocols need to be adopted. The
proposed low power routing protocol based on tree-based
network structure reliably forwards the measured data towards
the BS using TDMA. An energy consumption analysis of the
WSN making use of this protocol is also carried out. It is
found that the network is energy efficient with an average
duty cycle of 0:7% for the WSN nodes. The OmNET++
simulation platform along with MiXiM framework is made
use of.
Permutation of Pixels within the Shares of Visual Cryptography using KBRP for...IDES Editor
The security of authentication of internet based
co-banking services should not be susceptible to high risks.
The passwords are highly vulnerable to virus attacks due to
the lack of high end embedding of security methods. In order
for the passwords to be more secure, people are generally
compelled to select jumbled up character based passwords
which are not only less memorable but are also equally prone
to insecurity. Multiple use of distributed shares has been
studied to solve the problem of authentication by algorithms
based on thresholding of pixels in image processing and visual
cryptography concepts where the subset of shares is considered
for the recovery of the original image for authentication using
correlation function[1][2].The main disadvantage in the above
study is the plain storage of shares and also one of the shares
is being supplied to the customer, which will lead to the
possibility of misuse by a third party. This paper proposes a
technique for scrambling of pixels by key based random
permutation (KBRP) within the shares before the
authentication has been attempted. Total number of shares to
be created is dependent on the multiplicity of ownership of
the account. By this method the problem of uncertainty among
the customers with regard to security, storage, retrieval of
holding of half of the shares is minimized.

Band Clustering for the Lossless Compression of AVIRIS Hyperspectral ImagesIDES Editor
Hyperspectral images can be efficiently compressed
through a linear predictive model, as for example the one
used in the SLSQ algorithm. In this paper we exploit this
predictive model on the AVIRIS images by individuating,
through an off-line approach, a common subset of bands, which
are not spectrally related with any other bands. These bands
are not useful as prediction reference for the SLSQ 3-D
predictive model and we need to encode them via other
prediction strategies which consider only spatial correlation.
We have obtained this subset by clustering the AVIRIS bands
via the clustering by compression approach. The main result
of this paper is the list of the bands, not related with the
others, for AVIRIS images. The clustering trees obtained for
AVIRIS and the relationship among bands they depict is also
an interesting starting point for future research.
Microelectronic Circuit Analogous to Hydrogen Bonding Network in Active Site ...IDES Editor
A microelectronic circuit of block-elements
functionally analogous to two hydrogen bonding networks is
investigated. The hydrogen bonding networks are extracted
from â-lactamase protein and are formed in its active site.
Each hydrogen bond of the network is described in equivalent
electrical circuit by three or four-terminal block-element.
Each block-element is coded in Matlab. Static and dynamic
analyses are performed. The resultant microelectronic circuit
analogous to the hydrogen bonding network operates as
current mirror, sine pulse source, triangular pulse source as
well as signal modulator.
Texture Unit based Monocular Real-world Scene Classification using SOM and KN...IDES Editor
In this paper a method is proposed to discriminate
real world scenes in to natural and manmade scenes of similar
depth. Global-roughness of a scene image varies as a function
of image-depth. Increase in image depth leads to increase in
roughness in manmade scenes; on the contrary natural scenes
exhibit smooth behavior at higher image depth. This particular
arrangement of pixels in scene structure can be well explained
by local texture information in a pixel and its neighborhood.
Our proposed method analyses local texture information of a
scene image using texture unit matrix. For final classification
we have used both supervised and unsupervised learning using
K-Nearest Neighbor classifier (KNN) and Self Organizing
Map (SOM) respectively. This technique is useful for online
classification due to very less computational complexity.
In the realm of cybersecurity, offensive security practices act as a critical shield. By simulating real-world attacks in a controlled environment, these techniques expose vulnerabilities before malicious actors can exploit them. This proactive approach allows manufacturers to identify and fix weaknesses, significantly enhancing system security.
