This paper presents the Advanced Notification Congestion System (ACNS), which enhances TCP congestion avoidance by prioritizing younger and higher-priority TCP flows while penalizing older, lower-priority ones. The authors outline the limitations of existing TCP mechanisms and introduce their approach, which focuses on selectively notifying specific TCP end nodes to adjust their congestion windows based on flow age, priority, and queue length. Simulation results indicate that ACNS can significantly improve network performance by providing more bandwidth to prioritized flows under congested conditions.
