With the emergence of the international and domestic markets for aviation cargo, the volume of cargo, including
postal cargo, for civil aviation has increased, and several purely cargo airlines have emerged. Consequently,
competition among aviation logistics enterprises has intensified, and traditional air transportation can no longer meet
customer demands for services. Aviation logistics enterprises must strengthen the aviation logistics service supply
chain to expand their market. Accordingly, this paper discusses the situations and problems of the aviation logistics
service supply chain in China. Moreover, the strategic planning of aviation logistics enterprises in China for the
development of this supply chain is examined. To achieve the objectives of this study, the domestic aviation logistics
service supply chain in China is first investigated. Three of China’s aviation logistics enterprises are selected as
research objects for SWOT analysis. From the results of SWOT analysis, four key issues in the service supply chain
of China’s aviation logistics enterprises are identified: cargo terminals, competitiveness, diversification of service
types, and internal information sharing platforms. Finally, TRIZ analysis is performed on the four issues, and 11
strategies are designed for China’s aviation logistics service supply chain and then are divided into three phases
according to implementation time frame (i.e., short-, medium-, and long-term) to provide references that can be
applied to the practice of China’s aviation logistics enterprises.

To Move Or Not To Move: Cathay Pacific AirwaysMuhammad Anowar
An explosion and fire caused a shut-down at one of Cathay Pacific’s Data Centre offices in Hong Kong in 1991. This was an unprecedented incident for Cathay Pacific. Although the
company managed to restore the systems in just thirteen hours after the disaster recovery operation began, and the overall impact on the company’s business was kept to a minimum, the company’s senior management realized that the company should not be exposed to such a risk again. The immediate question raised was: how could the company ensure the security of its Data Centre operation? The overcrowded situation in the multi-tenanted office buildings in
Hong Kong had already placed limitations on the Data Center, as it was operating out of three separate offices. Could Hong Kong provide the solution?

The Indian automotive industry, comprising vehicle and component manufacturers, has grown steadily
since the economic liberalization of the early 1990’s. The arrival of major global auto companies has
galvanised the domestic sector into adopting Supply Chain best practices. This has enhanced
competitiveness leading to a quantum growth in exports. However, the Indian automotive industry has to
operate in an unique environment further posing challenges to the already complex automobile supply
chain. Therefore, a need is felt to continually study supply chain practices in this sector from a
contemporary, practitioner’s viewpoint in order to identify key factors of differentiation which would
ultimately provide competitive advantage. This paper seeks to understand the present status, complexities
and challenges facing the Indian automobile sector. It examines trends such as visibility and innovation,
collaboration and supply networks and evolving leadership roles impacting supply chain effectiveness.
Strategies for overcoming challenges are presented as also a framework for further study and analysis.

How to build an effective IoT demo with OSGi - Derek Baum & Walt Bowersmfrancis
OSGi Community Event 2016 Presentation by Derek Baum (Paremus) & Walt Bowers (Eurotech)
Physical IoT devices are more exciting than any software user interface and should be central to any demo. Initially attracted by the IoT device, visitors’ are naturally receptive to learn more about the software platform and/or products controlling the solution.
This is why the OSGi Alliance based their IoT demo on a LEGO® train. OSGi and the OSGi enRoute platform had no existing integrations for Lego® trains, but provided a great base for IoT development. The demo showcases how the OSGi ecosystem of open source and commercial products can be used together to build a compelling IoT solution.
This talk reviews the end to end architecture used to deliver the demo and describes how the custom actuators and sensors needed to operate the LEGO® train were constructed and controlled. It also explains the issues encountered and how they were resolved. It then describes how the demo has been evolved for this conference.
The OSGi IoT demo is on display in the exhibition area. Please visit the demo and try it out for yourself.
OSGi Community Event 2014
Abstract:
At the OSGi Community Event 2014 the OSGi Alliance invited you to visit our OSGi IoT stand in the Eclipse IoT playground where we showed a demo of a wind farm using Raspberry Pi’s and an OSGi Cloud plus OSGi based SaaS. People who brought along their Raspberry Pi (B or B+) to the stand had the opportunity to join the demo and turn their Raspberry Pi's into a ‘virtual’ windmill.
We hosted a OSGi Extended Session to explore this demo and launch a hackathon competition. Attendees participated in the OSGi IoT demo, using a Raspberry Pi. Each of them received a microSD card and adapter, kindly contributed by the SD Association (along with SanDisk and Cardwave).
The microSD card included the bootstrap software for each attendee to participate in the demo. After becoming an OSGi-enabled device the Raspberry Pi discovered the OSGi based cloud platform, Paremus Service Fabric, where ProSyst mPRM and a MQTT server were running. A Bitreactive wind farm application was dynamically installed on the OSGi enabled Raspberry Pi from the mPRM in the Cloud. Once installed the Raspberry Pi automatically joined our ‘virtual’ wind farm demo using MQTT.
Having seen the wind farm demo the attendees were given the opportunity to take part in a hackathon to develop new applications to be submitted by close of play the next day. There was a great competition between attendees to develop the best application and win a brand new devolo Home Control starter kit. The winner of the hackathon was Tobiasz Dworak, System and Software Architect at the Research & Engineering Center Sp.z o.o.
The OSGi IoT demo will be reused and extended for future events to include other products and additional applications. Please send us an email if you would like to get involved.
Logistics stakeholders are under increased pressure to guarantee reliable real-time information exchange. A vast amount of technologies are already available, but these are “island applications” and missing the opportunity to optimize the performance of their cooperation. This session aims to show the benefits of merging two worlds: logistics and cooperative mobility services. The aim is to demonstrate the exchange of information in a secure and controlled way in currently existing freight and transport systems and services, to enhance the mobility of goods in the field of urban mobility and city logistics.
End-to-end IoT solutions with Java and Eclipse IoTBenjamin Cabé
The IoT market is poised to an exponential growth, but there are still lots of barriers that prevent building a real, open, Internet of Things. Over the last years, Eclipse has been growing an ecosystem of open-source projects for IoT, that are used in real-world solutions, from smart gateways bridging sensors to the cloud, to device management infrastructures or home automation systems.
Java is a key-enabler for IoT, and this presentation provides you with concrete examples on how to build end-to-end solutions with the Eclipse IoT Java stack and projects like Paho, Kura, SmartHome, Californium, OM2M, Eclipse SCADA, Concierge ... This session will give you the keys to build a scalable IoT solution on top of open-source technology and open standards.

Implicitly or explicitly all competing businesses employ a strategy to select a mix
of marketing resources. Formulating such competitive strategies fundamentally
involves recognizing relationships between elements of the marketing mix (e.g.,
price and product quality), as well as assessing competitive and market conditions
(i.e., industry structure in the language of economics).
Putting the SPARK into Virtual Training.pptxCynthia Clay
This 60-minute webinar, sponsored by Adobe, was delivered for the Training Mag Network. It explored the five elements of SPARK: Storytelling, Purpose, Action, Relationships, and Kudos. Knowing how to tell a well-structured story is key to building long-term memory. Stating a clear purpose that doesn't take away from the discovery learning process is critical. Ensuring that people move from theory to practical application is imperative. Creating strong social learning is the key to commitment and engagement. Validating and affirming participants' comments is the way to create a positive learning environment.
