Initial Reaction
• I have 2 main ideas at the moment, one idea is to make an
underground music and fashion themed podcast where me and some
others talk about anything fashion or music related. I also could
implement an interview portion of the podcast because one of the
people I will be doing it with is actually a music artist so it would all fit
together nicely. The other idea I have is to make a short horror
themed film, it would be a mixture of ‘scream’ and ‘nightmare before
elm street’ as I think a combination of the two could work very well
and would allow me to experiment with a lot of cool and fun ideas. I
think I am pretty good at handling a camera and filming specific
things, I did Media studies at gcse also so I'm rather familiar with the
different shot types, these skills would definitely help with the short
film idea. Audio work and navigating audio software and using a
microphone are also very familiar to me which would positively
impact the quality of the podcast if I chose to do that.
Mind Map
Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood. The camera shot displays
everyone in the podcast, similar fashion style and ornaments and
decorations on the walls, in most cases to advertise the podcasts
brand.
How will your mood board influence your final product? I will be using
the same sort of fashion style the people in the podcasts are wearing,
this is because the topics we will be discussing in my podcast are
closely related to the artists in the mood board pictures, they are all a
part of the underground which is what we will be talking about in my
piece of work.
Influence/Inspiration
• The no jumper podcast- The no jumper podcast is a well known podcast
YouTube channel/company that interviews certain underground and industry
artists of all sizes. Adam22 is the host of the podcast and owner of the company,
his real name is Adam John Grandmaison, he is 38 years old and was born on the
24th November 1983, he founded the no jumper podcast in 2011 and has been
interviewing artists ever since. He has stated before that he considers himself a
committed fan of underground music in general. He has also said before multiple
times that he puts everything into his podcast and tries to help out up and
coming artists by providing them with a platform.
Influence/Inspiration
• The masked gorilla podcast- The masked gorilla podcast, host is Oscar
Gengo, he interviews underground and upcoming artists and uploads the
videos to YouTube, he founded the masked gorilla brand in in 2009, it
started as a blog post devoted to underground hip hop and rap, Masked
gorilla then evolved into the podcast YouTube channel it is now. Oscar was
born in 1992 and is 29-30 years old. He has always been a fan of hip hop
and rap music since he was a kid and grew up listening to artists/bands
like, Wiz Khalifa, Green day, Kendrick Lamar, MCR and Lil Wayne. He has
also said that he enjoys newer age rap from artists like Bones,
Ghostemane, Lil Peep and Pouya.
Skills Audit
• My skills- Audio editing, Handling a camera, Editing Footage,
Syncing audio with video, General Technical knowledge and Fast working
when needed.
• I think out of those skills my main ones are audio editing, I've
been engaging in activities to do with audio for years now and
have gained a lot of experience and now can easily record and
edit audio to a high level quite efficiently. I don’t really have
that much experience in using a camera, but I still have decent
ability of catching the subject of a shot in frame at all times.
Why are you making this project?
• I am making this project as I have always wanted to make a
podcast/interview piece of media, I watch a lot of them and
take heavy inspiration from popular podcast YouTube
channels/companies, for example, masked gorilla, no jumper,
montreality and the cufboys show. Additionally, I like
educating people on the underground scene as it’s a part of
fashion and music that I think deserves more recognition,
there is a lot of talent within the community and I would like
to provide more exposure even if not much. Probably the
main component of creating a podcast is the audio which I
have a lot of experience in, meaning I have a decent chance in
making a high quality piece of media.
Hopes for the FMP
• For the FMP I hope that I can gain some valuable experience
in terms of audio recording and camera angles/recording.
Also, hopefully I can better refine my editing skills in both
auditory and visual aspects, this will also help with future
projects that may be similar in nature. Having fun and being
provided with entertainment whilst in the production part of
the FMP is also a hope of mine, if I do have fun, this will also
help my work be the best it can be.
Strengths and Limitations
• As for my strengths, I am very good at talking about things and topics
I am passionate about, for example, I can talk about fashion for hours
if with the right people, the same goes for music talk. Since music and
fashion are such big industries there are multiple different sub topics
that can be brought up when talking about it, this will provide me and
the guests of the podcast a long list of specific things to bring up
throughout the podcast. There will be 3 people in the podcast which
will also increase conversation quality as instead of 1 or 2, there are 3
people inputting different opinions and statements. As for limitations
there aren’t really any apart from technical stuff for example we
don’t have a huge space to use for the set of the podcast so things
might look a bit cluttered/close together, also no microphone stand
available, the mic will be placed laying on a small table.
Potential Research Activities
• I will be conducting a lot of research for my FMP so that I can
as closely replicate as possible a high quality
podcast/interview. As for the specific things, I will be
researching how well known podcasts introduce there guests,
if I find any methods that I like a lot I may take inspiration
from them. ill also be looking for ways to introduce new topics
and different types of conversations into the podcast as I think
it’s a bit boring simply saying ‘ok moving on to the next
subject’ so if possible I would like to include something better.
Another aspect I will be researching is the editing, I want to
know if the more high production podcasts use a lot of editing
or if they normally just leave their podcasts raw and uncut.

Editor's Notes

  • #4 Log your initial thoughts regarding the FMP - What could you make? What are you good at? Your opinions? Can be a list of bullet points of reactions- does not have to be full prose. Can be hand drawn and scanned in.
  • #5 Bubbl.us or hand drawn-scanned using college printers exploring 3 potential ideas
  • #6 Collection of images related to your product/inspirational/visually interesting At least 15 needed
  • #8 Collect their work, beliefs, approaches to work. Focus on the person- who they are? What they believe? Their approach to work. What have they said about the medium your working in? Make it detailed. Become an expert on the people you look at. Include images to illustrate the topic.
