 Gujarat’s Business hub Surat is all set to be India’s 1st Bullet
Train Station as per the details shared by the Ministry of
Railways.
 Bringing PM Modi’s vision of Bullet Train to fruition, Surat
is being developed as the 1st Dedicated Bullet Train station
that will be a major port for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad
bullet train project which is under development now.
 The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is being
managed by National High-Speed Rail Corporation Ltd
(NHSRCL) at the cost Rs 1 lakh crore of which Rs 88,000
crores will be funded by the Japan International
Cooperation Agency (JICA).

3. Indian Railways Management Service (IRMS):
Centre issues gazette notification to unify 8
existing services
 The Central Government has issued a gazette notification announcing
unification of 8 Existing Services of IRMS under one banner of IRMS -
Indian Railways Management Service.
 Announced in Cabinet decision of 24th December 2019, the notification
comes two years later formalizing formation of a new Group 'A' Central
service known as the Indian Railway Management Service.
 The unification of 8 existing services under Ministry of Railways, is being
done to end ‘departmentalism’ in railways and following this exercise, it
would be left only two departments i.e.
 Railway Protection Force (RPF)
 Medical Service Department (MSD)

4. RailTel wins ICAI Award for excellence in
financial reporting
 RailTel has won the ICAI Award for Excellence in
Financial Reporting for the year 2020-21 in the Public
Sector Entities Category.
 RailTel is a Miniratna Central Government PSU under
the Ministry of Railways.
 The company was named winner in the category
"plaque".
 The ICAI award was presented to the awardees by
Union Minister Jitendra Singh at a ceremony held in
New Delhi.

5. Quad Foreign Ministers Meet: EAM S
Jaishankar calls for Free and Open Indo-
Pacific
 On 11th February 2022, Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar
attended the Fourth Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting held at
Melbourne – Australia.
 The meeting was attended by his counter parts from US, Australia and
Japan.
 While representing India at the Quad Forum, Mr Jaishankar called for a
free can open Indo-Pacific and also called upon the member nations
to work to uphold international order based on respect for territorial
integrity, sovereignty, and freedom of navigation.
 At the 4th Quad Foreign Ministers Meeting, EAM Jaishankar called for a
free and open Indo-pacific and urged member nations to work
towards ensuring a rule-based international order.
 He said since their last meeting in Feb 2021, the global geo-political
and geo-economic order has become more complex.
