Introduction to
Make In India
The Make in India initiative
was launched by the Prime
Minister in September
2014 as part of a wider set
of nation-building initiatives.
Devised to make India a
global manufacturing hub, It
was a timely response to a
critical situation.
By2013, the much-hyped
emerging markets bubble
had burst, and India’s
growth rate had fallen to its
lowest level in a decade.
The promise of the BRICS
Nations had faded, and
India was tagged as one of
the so-called ‘Fragile Five’.
Hence Make in India was
launched against the
backdrop of this crisis and
quickly became a rallying
cry for India’s innumerable
stakeholders and partners.
Make in India has been
initiated by DPIIT on layers
of collaborative effort.
About The Logo
The Make in India logo is a
lion’s silh
ouette filled with
cogs (or gears). This
symbolizes the national
pride of India and it's
industrial might. It was
designed by Kennedy &
Weiden, one of the largest
advertising firms globally.
The logo has been
designed to be both
timeless and
contemporary, and it is
instantly recognisable as a
symbol of the Make in India
initiative. This logo cannot
be modified or altered in
any way.
The Make in India logo has
been protected under the
Trademarks Act of 1999
& the Copyright Act of
1957; However You can
use the Make in India logo
on any product that is being
manufactured in India.
Primary Objectives
of Make In India
In
spiring confidence in
India’s capabilities amongst
potential partners abroad
(by encouraging FDI for
defence manufacturing,
railways, space, single
brand retail, etc.), the Indian
business community and
citizens at large.
Providing a framework for
a vast amount of technical
information on 25 industry
sectors, Giving a push to

of the Rupee and Creating
more employment
opportunities, especially for
the youth of India.
Collecting more innovative
ideas from the younger
generation, simplifying
business, developing
rural India, and making
rapid technological
advancements are among
the other important aims of
the Make in India initiative.

Bharatmala
Pariyojana Scheme:
The Bharatmala Pariyojana is
the country’s largest ever
highways development
programme. It aims to optimize
the efficiency of road traffic
movement across the country by
bridging critical infrastructure
gaps. Multi-nodal integration is
one of the key focuses of this
programme.
Integration of Multi transport
mode has also been built into
the Bharatmala Programme

National Ropeways
Development
Programme:
“Parvatmala” will be will be a
preferred ecologically
sustainable alternative to
conventional roads in difficult
hilly areas. It will improve
connectivity and convenience
for commuters, and promote
tourism.
The scheme is being presently
started in regions like
Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh,
Manipur, etc.
New Car
Assessment
Programme:
Shri Nitin Gadkari has approved
the Draft GSR Notification to
introduce Bharat NCAP wherein
automobiles in India shall be
accorded Star Ratings based
upon their performance in Crash
Tests.
The program will encourage
manufacturers to provide
advanced safety technologies to
earn higher ratings.
PM Gram Sadak
Yojana:
This initiative has been taken
with an aim to provide
connectivity to unconnected
habitations in the hinterlands
of India as part of a poverty
reduction strategy.

alone ‘Project(s)’.
As a part of “Mission Raftaar”
and during the period 2015-16
and 2021-22, 414 passenger train
services have been converted
into MEMU services.

Adarsh Station
Scheme:
Railway stations are
upgraded/modernized under
Adarsh Station Scheme based on
identified need of providing
better enhanced passenger
amenities at stations.
1253 railway stations have been
identified for development
under Adarsh Station Scheme.
Out of these, 1211 railway
stations have already been
developed and the remaining 42
stations are targeted for
development in Financial Year
2022-23.
Bharat Gaurav
Scheme:
Indian Railways had launched
the operation of theme-based
Bharat Gaurav train in the
month of November 2021.
The objective of this scheme is
to showcase India’s rich cultural
heritage and magnificent
historical places to the people
of India and the world, through
Bharat Gaurav Trains.
Amrit Bharat
Station Scheme:
Total of 1275 railway stations
have been identified in the
country including border
areas for development and
modernization.

Programme:

Sagarmala project.
The project also aims at
optimizing the EXIM costs of
logistics and container
movement, reducing the costs of

SAROD-Ports:
SAROD-Ports was launched on
10 September 2020 by Shri
Mansukh Mandaviya, MOS(IC)
Shipping. These ports are for
affordable and timely resolution
of disputes in a fair manner and

arbitrators.
This institution will promote

Coastal Berth
Scheme:
The scheme aims to provide

    Introduction to Make InIndia The Make in India initiative was launched by the Prime Minister in September 2014 as part of a wider set of nation-building initiatives. Devised to make India a global manufacturing hub, It was a timely response to a critical situation. By2013, the much-hyped emerging markets bubble had burst, and India’s growth rate had fallen to its lowest level in a decade. The promise of the BRICS Nations had faded, and India was tagged as one of the so-called ‘Fragile Five’. Hence Make in India was launched against the backdrop of this crisis and quickly became a rallying cry for India’s innumerable stakeholders and partners. Make in India has been initiated by DPIIT on layers of collaborative effort.

    4 The speed ofhighway construction has increased three fold from ~12 km/day in 2013-14 to 37 km/day in 2020-21. 5 In the last 7 years, length of NHs has gone up by more than 50% from 91,287 km (as on April 2014) to around 1,41,000 km in 2021. 7 A New Guinness World Record was created by NHAI in laying 75 km of bituminous concrete in a single lane on NH53 in 105 hours and 33 minutes. 6 A World record was created in Nagpur by constructing the longest Double Decker Viaduct (3.14 KM) with a highway flyover & metro rail supported on single column piers. Key Achievements 1 Construction of the Atal Tunnel was completed by the BRO in 2020 and currently holds the record of being the highest highway tunnel in the world. 2 The Delhi-Chandigarh highway is the 1st highway in the country which has been made e-vehicle friendly by BHEL. 3 14.5 km long Rail-cum-Road- bridge project on NH 333B in Munger, Bihar is with the aim to connect every city, every village of Bihar.

It aims to optimize the efficiency of road traffic movement across the country by bridging critical infrastructure gaps. Multi-nodal integration is one of the key focuses of this programme. Integration of Multi transport mode has also been built into the Bharatmala Programme Key Schemes National Ropeways Development Programme: “Parvatmala” will be will be a preferred ecologically sustainable alternative to conventional roads in difficult hilly areas. It will improve connectivity and convenience for commuters, and promote tourism. The scheme is being presently started in regions like Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Manipur, etc. New Car Assessment Programme: Shri Nitin Gadkari has approved the Draft GSR Notification to introduce Bharat NCAP wherein automobiles in India shall be accorded Star Ratings based upon their performance in Crash Tests. The program will encourage manufacturers to provide advanced safety technologies to earn higher ratings. PM Gram Sadak Yojana: This initiative has been taken with an aim to provide connectivity to unconnected habitations in the hinterlands of India as part of a poverty reduction strategy.

As a part of “Mission Raftaar” and during the period 2015-16 and 2021-22, 414 passenger train services have been converted into MEMU services. Key Schemes Adarsh Station Scheme: Railway stations are upgraded/modernized under Adarsh Station Scheme based on identified need of providing better enhanced passenger amenities at stations. 1253 railway stations have been identified for development under Adarsh Station Scheme. Out of these, 1211 railway stations have already been developed and the remaining 42 stations are targeted for development in Financial Year 2022-23. Bharat Gaurav Scheme: Indian Railways had launched the operation of theme-based Bharat Gaurav train in the month of November 2021. The objective of this scheme is to showcase India’s rich cultural heritage and magnificent historical places to the people of India and the world, through Bharat Gaurav Trains. Amrit Bharat Station Scheme: Total of 1275 railway stations have been identified in the country including border areas for development and modernization. Allocation of fund for development and maintenance of stations are done zonal Railway-wise.

    4 The National Mineral ExplorationTrust Completes 117 Projects out of 200 Approved Mineral Projects. 5 Project Information & Management Module of Single Window Clearance System (SWCS) is launched to obtain various clearances for operationalization of coal mines in the country. 7 The first six lane highway road is made by using Steel Slag at Surat, Gujrat to connect the port with the city. 6 BiSAG-N has created an application through which the Ministry of Steel is planning to upload the Geo location of more than 2,000 units. Key Achievements 1 Steel sector has witnessed a huge transformation during the past eight years, and has emerged globally as the 2nd largest producer and the 2nd largest consumer of steel. 2 GOI has handed over 52 GSI approved mine blocks to 15 State Governments. An E- portal for accreditation for Mineral exploration has been launched as well. 3 NMET has approved 187 exploration projects with a total cost of Rs.895.72 crore up to 31st December 2019.
