Sermon slides from message "the Letter & the Law (Luke 11:37-54)" by Rev Dr Ng Swee Ming on 16 Nov 2014. Concluding Part # 4 of Sermon Series "Bring Jesus to your World"
The document discusses the rapture doctrine and whether the Bible teaches it. It summarizes that most denominations teach there will be a secret rapture where faithful Christians are taken away before tribulation. However, the only Bible passage used to support this, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, instead teaches that the dead will be resurrected and living believers will rise together to meet Christ, not be secretly taken away beforehand. The document concludes the rapture teaching was a recent development and the Bible teaches of a single resurrection and judgment of all, not a secret prior rapture.
This document contains passages from the Gospel of John that discuss Jesus' metaphor of himself as the true vine. It contains 7 "I AM" statements by Jesus where he identifies himself as the bread of life, light of the world, gate for the sheep, good shepherd, resurrection and life, way and truth and life, and true vine. The passages emphasize that those who remain in Jesus will bear much fruit but those who do not remain in him will wither and be burned.
This document discusses the importance of unity in the church. It provides scriptural support for unity from passages like Ephesians 4:11-13 and Hebrews 10:23-25. It defines unity as oneness and agreement. It encourages focusing on commonalities over differences, avoiding criticism and gossip, resolving conflicts biblically, supporting leaders, and encouraging one another. The document warns that lack of unity through things like cliques, debts, or not working can hinder the church. Overall, it promotes practicing love and focusing on Christ to preserve unity.
The document discusses the rapture and different views on its timing according to eschatology. It provides background on the rapture, summarizing it as an event where Jesus descends from heaven with a shout and trumpet call to gather believers to meet Him in the air. It then outlines the strengths and weaknesses of pre-tribulationism, mid-tribulationism, and post-tribulationism views on whether the rapture occurs before, at the midpoint of, or after the tribulation period. The document concludes by emphasizing that the exact timing is a mystery known only to God and that believers should focus on being faithful in light of Christ's imminent return.
This document provides biblical evidence that Jesus Christ is God based on passages from the Old and New Testaments. It asserts that Isaiah 9:6 refers to the Messiah as the "mighty God" and "everlasting Father". Several other Old Testament passages referenced, including Isaiah 7:14 and Micah 5:2, also identify attributes of the Messiah that align with Jesus being God. The New Testament further establishes Jesus's deity, with passages like John 20:28 where Thomas calls Jesus "Lord and God", and Colossians 2:9 which says all the fullness of God resides in Jesus. Overall, the document argues that Jesus is the manifestation of God in human form to reconcile humanity and reveal God to people.
The document discusses the divine origin, absolute truth, and sovereign accomplishing power of God's word. It argues that the Bible is inspired directly by God and contains his unfailing truth, as demonstrated through its divine consistency over many authors over centuries. God's word will achieve his purposes as he speaks things into existence and directs history according to his commands and truth contained in scripture.
Many of us have an endless list of questions when it comes to Bible prophecy. It is quite possible that the more we study, the more confusing it all becomes. Taken from Dr. Jeremiah's "Answers to the Unsolved Mysteries of Prophecy" booklet, these charts will help you navigate through end-times prophecy and will answer your questions about the final days of this world.

The document discusses end times theology and debates around the timing of the rapture. It argues that the common belief in a pre-tribulation rapture is a relatively new doctrine, and cites several biblical passages that suggest Christians will experience the tribulation period and the second coming of Christ will occur at the end of the tribulation. The document aims to dispel popular rapture theories and outline what it sees as the true biblical timeline of end times events based on scripture.

The document discusses the importance of reading the Bible in order to grow in Jesus. It provides several reasons why everyone needs to read Scripture, including that kings were commanded to read it daily, it has been read aloud to groups of people, and must be taught to families. The Bible alone is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction in righteousness. To grow in Christ, we need to read the Bible regularly, analytically, systematically, persistently, completely, expectantly, reverently, and fervently, as well as collectively.
The document discusses the second coming of Christ based on biblical teachings. It covers what the second coming is, the signs that will precede it, and how believers should respond. The key points are:
- The second coming will be personal and visible, in which Christ returns to establish his kingdom and judge unbelievers.
- Signs preceding it will include religious delusion, wars, natural disasters, and the re-establishment of Israel as a nation.
- Believers should watch and pray, evangelize others, and live holy lives as they wait patiently for Christ's return. The rapture will come secretly to take believers before the tribulation.
Tomorrow we are starting a new series of study:
“The New Man” is a seminar that will focus on the spirit of man, its soul and its body.
We will learn the properties of each one of these three parts of man.
Our spirit is called to be the ruling part of us, actually, our spirit is the main part of our being, and is the place where the spirit of God dwells in.
We meet in Room #3 at CTF Toronto Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. I invite you to come and participate with us in this discovery of how to let our spirit become the ruler of our life.
Being transformed in your mind (Romans12) means rethinking your self image. Those who have placed their trust in Jesus are in Christ. This is a fundamental change. Our identity is now who we are in Christ. The New testament has many descriptions of who we are in Christ and we need to live on the basis of these statements and not by what the world tells us were are or should be.
The document discusses biblical prophecies about the end times from books such as Daniel and Revelation. It analyzes prophecies about four kingdoms that would rule Israel and the world, culminating in a final world kingdom. It asserts that current global events like wars and rumors of wars match Jesus' description of signs that precede his second coming. The document aims to show that biblical prophecy provides confidence about what will happen in the end times.
1. God had three great plans laid out before the universe existed and time began - eternal life, salvation, and grace.
2. Eternal life refers to God's offer of an unending relationship with Him and resurrection to everlasting life. Salvation involves God's plan to call people to repentance and forgive their sins through Jesus' sacrifice. Grace refers to God's undeserved favor and provision of forgiveness and help through Christ.
3. These three overlapping and interrelated aspects of God's plan were designed carefully by God before the beginning of time.
The document discusses Jesus being tempted by Satan in the wilderness for 40 days. It describes the three main forms of temptation Jesus faced: lust of the flesh when tempted to turn stones to bread, pride of life when tempted to jump from the temple, and lust of the eyes when tempted with rulership over all the kingdoms. While Jesus was fully God, he also had a human nature and was tempted. However, Jesus overcame each temptation by quoting scripture. His example teaches that we too can resist temptation through God's word and strength.
Why do you think Rahab is listed among the “heroes” of faith in Hebrews 11? Do you feel that some sins in your past or present are so terrible that they can’t be forgiven or that you are unworthy to serve God? How does Rahab’s story encourage you? What was the emotional state of the people in Jericho? (Josh. 2:9, 11; 6:1) How did this confirm God’s promises in Deut. l:21, 29–31? Read carefully Josh. 2:9–13. What did Rahab know about Israel's history? How long before had the Red Sea been crossed? (Ex. l4). How long before had Sihon and Og been conquered? (Deut. 2:26-3:ll) What did Rahab specifically say she believed about the God of Israel? What is impressive about her faith? Could anyone else in Jericho have come to the same conclusions?
The document discusses waiting on God's timing. It notes that God has a plan and timing that should not be ignored. It uses the example of David, who was anointed king at a young age but had to wait 14 years and hide from King Saul before becoming king, to illustrate God's plan and timing. The document also includes several Bible verses about waiting on God from Psalms. It states that God requires waiting to receive direction, keep people in step with his timing, test and strengthen faith, and bring people through to his timing. Finally, it recommends waiting patiently, with trust, expectation, steadfastness, and standing on God's word.
The document discusses temptation and how Jesus overcame temptation. It provides examples of biblical figures who faced temptation, such as Abraham, Jacob, Joseph and Job. It describes Jesus being tempted by Satan in the wilderness and overcoming each temptation by quoting scripture. It explains that temptation shows we can defeat Satan with God's help and develops perseverance. People can react to temptation by giving in, struggling with it, or overcoming it through Christ. The document offers advice on dealing with temptation and falling into sin.
The document outlines steps believers must take to prepare for Christ's return, which is described as imminent. It states that we must (1) grow spiritually through regular prayer, Bible study, and obedience; (2) strengthen relationships with other believers for accountability and community; and (3) continually share the gospel with non-believers through acts of service and compassion. Preparing also requires depending on the Holy Spirit's power, and getting one's personal life, family, and finances in order. The conclusion urges urgency, saying Christ's coming will happen very quickly with no time left for reflection once it arrives.
The document discusses the importance of spiritual growth and maturity. It outlines different stages of spiritual development using the analogy of an infant, child, teenager, and mature adult. Each stage is characterized by certain behaviors and mindsets. The goal is to progress from basic understanding to discernment, submission to authority, and mentoring others through mature character and intimacy with God.
Make Me A Servant
Make me a servant Lord, make me like you
For you are a servant, make me one, too.
Make me a servant, do what you must do
To make me a servant, make me like you.
To love my brother, to serve like you do.
I humble my spirit, I bow before yo.
And through my service, I'll be just like you.
So make me a servant, make me like you.
Open my hands Lord and teach me to share
Open my heart Lord and teach me to care,
For service to others is service to you.
Make me a servant, make me like you.
The document discusses the events surrounding the second coming of Christ and the aftermath. It states that when Jesus returns, the wicked will be destroyed while the righteous will be resurrected or translated. As a result of the wicked being destroyed, Satan will be alone on Earth with no one left to tempt. He will then be bound to a desolate Earth for 1,000 years while the righteous reign with Christ in heaven. During this time, the saints will participate in the judgment of the wicked and righteous. After 1,000 years, Satan will be released briefly to go out and deceive the nations again before being defeated by fire from God and cast into the lake of fire along with all the wicked, facing the second
The document provides an introduction and overview of Paul's letter to the Philippians. It discusses the purpose of presenting Jesus Christ as the source of joy, Paul as the author around 60-62 AD while imprisoned in Rome, and the original audience as the Philippians and early Christians. The outline presents four sections where Paul discusses his circumstances, appealing to have the mind, knowledge, and peace of Christ.
This document poses a series of "what if" scenarios exploring what would happen if God treated humans the way they treat Him. It suggests that while God will continue blessing and providing for humanity even when they fail to thank, follow, study the Bible, love others, or listen to Him, eternal condemnation awaits those who persist in sin and fail to repent. The document encourages readers not to take God's gracious gifts for granted and to get saved through faith, repentance, confession, baptism and faithfulness to avoid losing God's blessings or facing His judgment.
II Corinthians is Paul's most personal letter, written to defend his ministry against false teachers undermining his authority at the church in Corinth. Paul explains his delayed visit, comforts repentant church members, warns the rebellious minority, and defends his apostleship. The letter addresses Paul's ministry, the collection for believers in Jerusalem, and warns the Corinthians against the false teachers while urging unity.
The seeing are blind, while the one who is blind can see. Jesus tells the twelve disciples that he will suffer, die and rise again in Jerusalem, but they do not understand. However, a blind man calls out to Jesus as the Son of David and asks for mercy. Jesus is the Lord's anointed who lays down his life for the sheep. He is the incarnate love of the Father who suffers long and is kind. Jesus opens the eyes of the blind to see him not by outward appearances but by faith in his mercy and compassion. Those who behold him by faith follow him to the cross and into life.

This study analyzed prescription drug utilization data from a Medicare drug discount card program and employer-insured plans to estimate the extent to which seniors filled prescriptions in Canada prior to Medicare Part D. The authors found that those living closer to the Canadian border had lower rates of filling prescriptions domestically, suggesting some crossed the border for cheaper drugs. The effect was greater for brand drugs and those without insurance coverage. Living 10% closer to the border was associated with 1.15% and 0.80% fewer generic and brand prescriptions filled domestically. The results indicate that while Medicare Part D likely reduced cross-border drug purchases, some seniors may still obtain medications from Canada to save on costs.

The document discusses how the Bible has been used both to support and oppose slavery, the Copernican theory of astronomy, and views on poverty. It notes that passages from both the Old and New Testaments were cited by proponents of slavery to argue it was sanctioned by God. It also discusses how Christian leaders like Martin Luther and John Calvin rejected Copernicus' findings because they contradicted literal interpretations of certain Bible passages. The document questions whether the Bible should be seen as a rule book or library open to different interpretations, and suggests seeing it through the lens of Jesus' life and teachings rather than taking every passage literally.

Ezekiel was a prophet called by God to serve as a watchman for Israel. Through symbolic actions like lying on his side for 430 days and preaching, Ezekiel warned Israel of coming judgment for their sins and idolatry. He also had visions of Israel's future restoration, including receiving a new heart and spirit, dry bones coming to life, and the rebuilt temple. Ezekiel prophesied of a time when Satan will be bound for 1000 years and Christ will rule during the Millennial Kingdom before the final battle and judgment. The Minor Prophets also warned Israel and surrounding nations while offering hope for the future through messages focused on obedience, justice, and restoration.

True gospel 4: The TRUE GOSPEL IS THE KEY OF KNOWLEDGE THAT OPENS THE DOOR OF...Lope Columna
There are many Churches and religious leaders today, just like the Pharisees in Jesus' day, who object to the seeking of a deeper and advanced understanding of truth in the Scriptures. They believe there is only one Bible understanding, therefore, hindering the progression and growth of people. They are so satisfied with their comfort zone of just having the Bible Basics, even the Milk level of God's knowledge. Therefore, they became blind to the truth of the Kingdom of God. It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
