The document is a summary of the Sunday celebration service at SSMC Sungai Way-Subang Methodist Church on January 1, 2017. The service focused on reading through the entire New Testament as a church family in 2017. It provided background on the structure and books of the Bible. It also summarized the Gospel of John chapter 1 verses 1-18, emphasizing that Jesus came to give life and light through his incarnation, and that all people can become children of God by believing in him.
The first teaching in the series "Growing Deep in the Gospel". In this teaching we answer the question "Why is the Gospel Important?" by looking at Romans 1:16, several other Bible verses and quotes from pastors and Christian authors. Then in light of the importance of the gospel we look at what we should do with the gospel.
People need to hear the essential elements of the Gospel in order to be saved. They will not be saved by hearing your testimony but by the truth of the Gospel. Declare the complete message of redemption for forgiveness and eternal life thru Jesus.

Today we are going to talk about a very basic question, what is a church, and how can we see as being in a church? When we drive on the street, we often see church buildings one after another in the city. But is this the church mentioned in the Bible? What else should be in the church? We often see young people no longer go to church after they leave their parents. Parents often worry about their spiritual condition and whether they believe in Jesus Christ can be passed on. We will discuss this issue from the perspective of the Bible.
The second study in our "Growing Deep in the Gospel" series in which we answer the question, "What is the Gospel?" In answering the question we looked at how the word "gospel" was used in Jesus' day and how the Bible describes the gospel. We also looked at what is the heart of the gospel, a outline of the basic gospel message and an outline of the gospel based on the entire Bible.
Believer's assurance of salvation based on their hope on Christ who is coming again. In addition His return is motivation for their sanctification and purification.

In today’s society, Jesus Christ is often spoken about, and everything is Jesus Christ. Some young people in Sunday school even answer Jesus Christ no matter what the teacher asks. But Jesus Christ is not in the flesh today. Then, if a disciple want to follow Jesus Christ, just like in ancient times, how shall we do it in the present time. We must understand this matter clearly, and should not be shouting like slogans, and has no benefit. This chapter will discuss this issue in depth, I hope everyone can be benefit from this discussion.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

23. 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word
was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him
nothing was made that has been made.
4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness
has not understoodit.
John 1:1-18
24. 6 There came a man who was sent from God; his
name was John.
7 He came as a witness to testify concerning that
light, so that through him all men might believe.
8 He himself was not the light; he came only as a
witness to the light.
9 The true light that gives light to every man was
coming into the world.
John 1:1-18
25. 10 He was in the world, and though the world was
made through him, the world did not recognize
him.
11 He came to that which was his own, but his own
did not receive him.
12 Yet to all who received him, to those who
believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God—
John 1:1-18
26. 13 children born not of natural descent, nor of human
decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling
among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the
One and Only, who came from the Father, full of
grace and truth.
15 John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying,
"This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after
me has surpassed me because he was before me.'"
John 1:1-18
27. 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received
one blessing after another.
17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and
truth came through Jesus Christ.
18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and
Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him
known.
